Charming compound comprised of two houses in the rolling green hills of Bearsville. 2 miles from Woodstock Village Green. There is a brand new heated, saltwater, in-ground 40 x 20 foot pool and brand new hot tub, and for the cooler months a toasty fireplace. Both houses are renovated in a relaxed lodge style. Please Note the guest house only rents out with the main house in the summer months. Unless it is a last min booking. The compound consists of a one bedroom, one bath guest house ( if you have a child the couch is also usable to sleep 3) And a two bedroom, one bath Main house. Go to our facebook page for last min deals on on the whole compound and like us there for updates.
The main house has two bedrooms 1 king 1 queen, both sunny and comfortable with new skylights. The brand new kitchen is easy to use and the new bathroom is a relaxing treat at the end of a day hiking with a deep soaking tub. Woodsy open living room has a fireplace and plenty of seating. lots of little seating spots around the house for private time inside and out. There is a sun room to relax in that leads out onto a suntrap patio with a dining table. A favorite room is the dining room, like an old fashioned Captain's cabin wood-lined and super cozy for the best dinner parties, a room for passing the port and telling tall tales.
The Guest house has a sun filled, well appointed open living room with wall of windows. In the summer keep it wide open to live out doors with ceiling fan. And in the winter very cozy, central heating plus wood-stove (wood provided). Brand new kitchen, dishwasher and Microwave, all stocked with the basics. Spa-like bathroom with a lovely deep tub and a skylight, relax in while gazing at the stars. Sunny bedroom queen size bed. Spacious dining area seats 6. Flat screen TV & new DVD player & iPod dock. fan for bedroom. Mini Library filled with books DVDs and magazines. Brand-new washer & dryer. Hairdryer, Soaps, fresh new linens & towels provided. We are new on VRBO.

Sarah Hale purchased this lodge in 2011
Charm Charm Charm, Built by the neighboring farmer's family in 1937 for an emigre family from Germany. It has a woodsy feel with charming little details. When we first saw it it was the setting that grabbed us, it's not grand but super relaxed and now a little lux with the new bathrooms and kitchens and the addition of the new hot tub and heated saline pool. The Hamlet of Bearsville reminds me of where i went to school in Somerset, England, green hills and dark starry nights.
You can come and rejuvenate yourself in the relaxing compound, set in landscaped grounds surrounded by flowering apple and magnolia trees.
You are in the country with all delicious benefits, from the farm next door where you can walk over in the morning and buy your happy eggs, to swimming holes, hiking, tubing & trout fishing, yet close to everything you would need to have a relaxing time with art galleries, Zagat rated restaurants, a cute little village for a stroll and some shopping and the relaxed atmosphere of a cosmopolitan environment.
My wife and I (and our dog) came to Bearsville from NYC for our 1 year wedding anniversary. It was AMAZING. Since we are from the city we treasure peace and quite and that is what this place provides. Not only that it provided plenty of running room for Wilson, our dog, to stretch his legs. He even made friends with the cows in the pasture next door! The town of Woodstock is beautiful as well with plenty of art shops and some very good restaurants. The music scene is awesome too! We are 100% coming back!!
My girlfriend and I spent valentines day weekend with another couple and both of our dogs. The fenced in yard allowed our pups to play and run like crazy! We drove to Bellayre to ski for a day, came back to the house and warmed up by the fire and in the hot tub outside! The fireplace is amazing! The house was beautiful and super clean when we arrived. The kitchen is fully stocked- there was even a garlic press! :) We felt so cozy and comfortable and we can't wait to go back in the summer! Sarah was available for us as well and very friendly! We have rented houses from Air BnB and VRBO before and sometimes we are disappointed when we arrive. We were, however, not only thrilled when we arrived to see the home and space, but honestly blown away from how perfect it was.
My boyfriend treated me to a weekend getaway upstate. This property is just the place to go if you need some R&R. The house far exceeded my expectations. The decor is lovely. Sarah left very clear instructions and suggestions, which made our stay even better. I would love to stay here again in the summer, and would highly recommend this gorgeous retreat.
My 3 friends and I rented this amazing property over Thanksgiving. We rent a house every year and i have to tell you...this one was absolutely our favorite! the house is BEAUTIFUL and sits on the sweetest piece of land ever. perfectly decorated, the bathroom I'd live in and the fireplace was perfection. comfortable, quiet and with a window view in the living room you just have to see to believe. the jacuzzi was a welcomed retreat and the view of the stars was stellar. Sarah was gracious for opening her house to us and we're eying a repeat visit in the summer to enjoy that enormous pool! A must rental for anyone looking!
Two hours and a world away! Bearsville is just what I needed to take a break from NYC. Super clean, spacious, and with great light. It's back off the road so you really feel like you're away from everyone. Close to Woodstock and Phoenicia and with a great little grocery store nearby to boot. My go-to for a much-needed retreat.
We arrived to find both houses very clean and very tastefully decorated. They maintain the charm of an older home with just the most important updates throughout. My wife and my friend's wife are extremely harsh judges on cleanliness and we got their big thumbs up which is impressive indeed. Love the wood burning fire place, the huge yard, the neighbors farm with goats coming right up to our fence. It was all a lot of fun. Now we need to get back in summer to use the pool!
Perfect for all four seasons. Snowy & Cozy in winter, close to 3 ski resorts In autumn stunning leaf color, fresh in spring when all the apple and magnolia blossoms appear and summer is stellar by the 40x 20 pool.
The tree-ringed houses are in the peaceful hamlet of Bearsville. It is perfectly private with out being isolated, spend all day and night in the restful grounds or go into town for dinner or drinks.
No car needed if you want to come up from the city you can bike or walk to dinner and to the village - and the bus drops you in Bearsville with a short walk to the Retreat.
Comfortable, modern furnishings, art throughout the interiors. The property is set back from the road down a long driveway, next to a old-world farm. Fully fenced private property with gate great for kids and pets. Well-behaved pets considered.
