We stayed at the Chauvet House for 3 nights as part of our wedding weekend. We got married at a local park with a few of our friends but wanted to have a "compound" for our friends to gather for meals and fun activities. I found the house online after researching many properties in the area and thought the style and layout would work well for our group (i.e. large kitchen, 3 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, pool, cool style, etc.). The house has great pictures online but once we arrived I knew I found the right place!! We loved the stunning grounds filled with tall trees, all the seating areas (1 with a fire pit), lounge chairs by the pool--outside is its own private oasis. We ate every meal outside!
The inside was just as spectacular. The interior is open and easy to move around. It has great furnishings and very well stocked kitchen. Our "cook" loved all of the nice pots/pans, range, refrigerator, etc. The kitchen lacks nothing! Many of our guests also marveled at the house and wanted to stay longer! I wish we had more time than just our 3 days too! It was so relaxing – I truly didn't want to leave. Liselle, who handled all my questions prior to arriving, was a gem. She never seemed bothered by my questions and always answered them timely. I can’t wait for a return visit to the amazing A++ property!
This home is fabulous. The photos of the property do not do it justice and we were all surprised by how much better it was in life than on the website. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and the master bedroom is huge, ideal for us as a couple travelling with a toddler, our nanny and adult friends. The interior of the house is beautiful, spacious, tasteful and - everything worked perfectly, was well designed and comfortable. Every single lightbulb and piece of equipment was in tip top condition - as someone who travels and rents homes frequently, this is a rare convenience. Luxurious linens, towels, bathrobes definitely put this home way ahead of others. The privacy of the property was particularly appealing, and as the garden matures and the grove of pear and apple trees grow to full size it will be a magical 'hidden' garden. This is not a complaint, rather a niggle/observation - the pool is surrounded by slabs and then gravel, so to get from the house to the pool it is necessary either to walk across the gravel barefoot of find flip flops - my toddler struggled a bit with this idea. For older children/adults this isn't a problem ... and of course there are 'house' flipflops by the door from the house to the pool - indeed every comfort is catered to in this home.
We rented the Chauvet home for 2 nights for a 40th birthday party. When we arrived, we didn't know what to expect as you cannot see the home from the driveway (the home sits above a short winding driveway). When we reached the home, we were delighted at the serenity and secludedness of the property. The pool was surrounded by just enough grass to play badminton (this was one of our favorite things to do, as well as horseshoes). The pool is only 4 ft. deep but just fine for our group as we just used it for cooling off. The house was also amazing and very modern (loved the concrete floors throughout and the Nest system - very cool). The master suite was enormous and our guests all loved that all the rooms had en-suite bathrooms. Ping pong was also another nightly enjoyment . We highly recommend this property and glad we skipped all the wineries and stayed at the house most of the time!
Note to owners: a couple of the faucets need tightening (we let Lisille know already).
I’m reluctant to write this review because I selfishly want to rent this house again in the future without competing against everyone here reading these reviews.
Rent this house. It is the perfect jumping-off point for Sonoma and even the Napa Valley… central to everything.
The quality of furnishings and the miscellaneous house items are impressive. I’ve rented many houses around the world, and this feels most like a private home.
Glen Ellen Star is a short walk away. Eat there. Have fun. This is a great house.
Chauvet was a gorgeous property for our girl's weekend! Everyone gushed over every
little detail of the home -- from the decor, to the landscape, to the home furnishing -- the
property was absolutely beautiful! I highly recommend this place if you're looking for something nicer than an ordinary weekend. Sarah and Lisille were very responsive and made me feel at ease during and after the booking. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your home. I just wished we spent more time on the property.
WOW! This home far exceeded our expectations. Although it's a little pricier than other spots in the area, it is more than worth it. We looked at several other properties and this one is far and above the others in terms of beauty and quality. The house is well stocked with beautiful, clean linens and the kitchen is equipped with anything you could possibly need. Plus, the pool and garden are amazing and well maintained and it's walking distance to all the great places in Glen Ellen as well as some of the wineries. We had the best weekend and hope to be back soon! I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a great, relaxing spot.
