Fantastic view!

We enjoyed our stay at Wings of Eden. The view was incredible! We loved having breakfast on the lanai every morning and enjoyed a drink on the couch outside at the end of the day. The whole house was more than spacious enough for the four of us. As mentioned before by other reviewers the kitchen equipment and the fridge might need a little makeover. The bedrooms are nice and the beds comfortable, the bathroom was a little used but ok. We liked the Hawaiian decor of the living room. There is also an iPod docking station with speakers, which was very nice. The steep driveway is a little adventure, but nothing to worry about with a decent car. The coqui frogs at night were a little annoying. But you get used to it and they are everywhere on the Big Island. A boogie board was also provided. We didn't use the kayak, because we had no idea how to take it with us. ;)

Owner's Response: Thanks for loving your stay at Wings of Eden!
Yes it's very spacious and comfortable with gorgeous views that cover the whole south coastline and almost all of Kealakekua Bay with it's pods of dolphins and whales in season.
I am adding new items to the kitchen and updating to make it the best vacation experience possible. I love to get feedback from guests to make it better.
There are some noodles and straps down by the kayak for putting the kayak safely on a car for transport. I'm sorry these guests didn't ask me , as I do give everyone my phone # and email.
I will put this info into the the guest notes at Wings of Eden so everyone will know.
Much Aloha

Unparalleled View

I agree with the reviewers who pointed out the need to upgrade the kitchenware and dishes (and bath towels), but we also found the house (and bed) comfortable, imaginatively decorated and utterly unique. The two main reasons you should stay there are: the incomparable view from Capt. Cook monument to South Point, and that it is cool and comfortable at night to sleep without need of an air conditioner. I spent hours on the deck, looking through binoculars at all the beauty and activity on K-Bay, and came home completely rested and relaxed!

More Than We Could Have Ever Asked For

Wings of Eden was more than we could have ever asked for. Upon arriving, we were pleasantly surprised to see the pictures on the website don't do the place justice. The views from the master bedroom and patio are breathtaking. It was so amazing we would start our day by having our breakfast enjoying the view as well as ending our evenings with a drink outside.

The location is centrally located near many great cafes, restaurants, and shops. The owner, Cynthia could not have been more delightful or helpful in advising us where the best spots were for snorkeling and kayaking. We will definitely be coming back!

Wings of Eden ...What a view!

The ride up the hill to Wings of Eden is worth the adventure! The property is private and perfectly located with a glorious, breath-taking view of Kealakekua Bay. The view is gorgeous and can be seen from both bedrooms, and from the main room. The photos accurately depict the house which was decorated in a charming ,casual ,comfortable way. My daughter and I especially enjoyed the openness of the design with the kitchen overlooking the living area and the wonderful lanai. Washer and dryer were much appreciated; the house truly had everything you would need to make your stay comfortable and easy. There were times I just wanted to sit on the lanai, sip my coffee, and bask in the beauty of the surroundings; however, snorkeling at Two Step , shopping at South Kona Fruit Stand (a must-do) and a drive to the green sand beach and black sand beach would beckon. The beautiful Painted Church built in 1899 is also highly recommended...not far from Wings of Eden. After a mix-up with scheduling at another property on the North Shore , we were so lucky to be able to book another day at Wings of Eden ( turned out it was the only day that was open !). The owner was definitely helpful and available to answer questions. Hopefully we can return as we loved our experience and would recommend Wings of Eden to friends and relatives.

Funky but fun

When we first arrived at the house we weren't sure how we'd like it, but it "grew on us" so by the end of our stay we were really comfortable there. The views are fantastic--we drank coffee in the early morning on the deck and dinner there in the evening. The bed up on chests appears quirky, but it's really cool to see the views while lying in bed. For the most part the house was adequately furnished, although some of the cooking gear and dishes were on the short side. Some of the lightbulbs needed to be replaced. The house is quite roomy, but kind of old and worn--maybe "funky" is a good description. We would have appreciated a few more instructions--it took me a long time to figure out how to make the TV work and I still wasn't sure I was doing it right. I wouldn't recommend it to people with disabilities or bad knees because of the very steep driveway and steps. But we'd probably return, as it fit us okay.
