Guestbook comments from the manager

The cabin was exactly as described. It provided a wonderful setting for a fantastic week on Vancouver Island. Communication with the host was always fast, friendly, and efficient. Highly recommended!

Perfect Location!

  • 5 of 5

This little cabin is so cute! It was very comfortable and had everything we needed. It is the perfect walking distance between Mackenzie Beach and downtown. the only thing I would change was that there was only a Tassimo in the cabin rather than a regular coffee maker, and those things are so wasteful! Other than that it was a perfect weekend at this cozy little spot. Added bonus were the resident cat and the chickens!

A Bit Disappointed

  • 2 of 5

We surprised about a few things - specifically the proximately of the cabin to the other buildings on the property. It was very close to the highway, the neighbour to the back is very close, vehicle parking is very close. I don't know exactly what the other buildings are used for, but there were people and vehicles coming and going at all hours of the day and night. People peering at the cabin as they go by (or plain stopping to try and look in), and plenty of talking as they go by. We shut all the blinds and curtains within 30 minutes of arriving. The cabin's roof has a plywood patch so I'm glad we had great weather. As mentioned before, the shower water pressure is almost non-existent - and we expected that. I didn't expect a hand-held shower nozzle that wouldn't stay set on spray and would randomly turn, nor did I expect it to be connected to the outflow pipe. No spigot, no tap, nothing at head-level. The pipe was level with the taps. And there's a weird and old piece of wood screwed in to the tub just above the "safety" drain. The first night, I thought there was something under the tub - it turned out to be a darkened and crusty looking rag of some sort. Lastly, the lighting was poor. Most of the switches did nothing, the light socket in the loft is empty, the ceiling light is coverless which doesn't disperse light well.

However, the cabin is within walking distance to town. There seems to be plenty of hot water and the heat is very responsive. Not all of the windows have screens and it got a little stuffy - I'd suggest a ceiling fan in the main room. It's compact and for the most part, a cosy hideaway (with the drapes drawn) and the loft is a great place to laze and read.

If you drink a lot (and I don't mean specifically alcohol) this may not be a good place. The ladder the loft is daunting as you descend for a mid-night trip to the bathroom.

We wouldn't stay here again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone I know.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your very thorough feedback Lei. We really appreciate it. I'll be looking into all the things you've mentioned right away and will have them dealt with as soon as possible. We've got the Cabin blocked off for some dates in March to replace the entire roof, which you noticed has a patch on it. It started leaking a few weeks ago and we haven't had a chance to replace it properly yet because there have been guests booked. Thanks again for your feedback, it helps us make the stay for others more enjoyable. -Jason

Had an amazing time! Situated ideally for beaches and shops restraunts! Stayed a week and loved the place! Clean and cozy! Lost keys but owner arranged for replacement straight away! Nice neighbours and will defiantly stay again ! Shower not the most powerfull ! Had to sit in bath to shower! But hay! It was piping hot water and we only paid a fraction of the price on other properties! Plus it was fun!

Small but charming and close to town! A lovely place to stay. Kitchen was fully equipped, and the bed was very comfy. We were particularly happy that our dog was welcome too!

Relaxing Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I loved staying in this rustic cabin for our three-night getaway to Tofino. It was cozy, clean, and simply perfect. We enjoyed cooking in the well-equipped kitchen and waking up to a bright window in the attic-bedroom. We spent most of our time in Tofino doing our neglected hobbies in the cabin--reading, drawing, and knitting--and when we ventured out, we loved exploring Chesterman Beach, Long Beach, and trying coffee at Rhino Coffee House and the Tofino Coffee Roasting Company. The cabin is a 15-20 minute walk to the centre of town and is also steps away from an inlet. We count it as our favourite travelling experience together and hope to come back again next year. Our only recommendation would be for a better shower head, but that is easy alleviated if one opts for a soak in the clawfoot tub instead!
