Overview

Webster Lake Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description

Farmhouse, 4 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

This century old cape with its breezeway and attached barn is situated on ¾ acres at the end of a town road with over 300 feet of frontage on Highland Lake (a 212 acre, deep lake). The house has two bedrooms upstairs and two bedrooms downstairs. Also downstairs is the bath with shower, cozy living room, dining room and kitchen with cathedral ceiling and skylights. The major food preparation space has bar stools tucked on one side for those who love to help or watch the cook.

Views of the water, mountains, and open pastures captivate you from many angles, both inside and out. Sunsets can be enjoyed from Adirondack chairs in the backyard which overlooks Kearsarge and Ragged Mountains. A waterfront dock and deck provide wonderful spaces to swim, fish, read or keep an eye on the kids. The gradual water depth in the channel is ideal for young children.

The sloping grounds provide sledding in the winter and Highland lake offers good ice fishing, cross country skiing and snowmobiling adventures.

The Town of East Andover is just a 5 minute walk from the house. This quaint little settlement has a small public library, lovely old New England church and post office.

With prior arrangements, in warm weather, the 'Clock Shop' can be set up for additional guests. The house next door is listed on VRBO if you are planning a large gathering.

About Margaret Lanphear

My husband and I live in Western Massachusetts and enjoy traveling to NH.

Margaret Lanphear purchased this farmhouse in 1995

Why Margaret Lanphear chose Webster Lake

Our children are grown with families of their own. This lovely vacation spot encourages family gatherings and provides great relaxation and fun.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Swimming, boating and winter skiing are the things we most frequently do but the area offers many other attractions.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our family came to stay here while attending a conference at nearby Proctor Academy. We had a great time and the spot is perfect for young kids. There are kayaks and 2 private docks. The house is at the end of a dead end, so no traffic. The lake frontage is actually on a small channel, which is quiet and has no fast motor boats, making it a great spot to splash with the kids. In all, a lovely spot with plenty of fun things to do.

Cozy country retreat

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in this charming farmhouse for Presidents' Day weekend with our three-year-old and one-year-old girls, and we had a wonderful time. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed for cooking, as well as plenty of spices and condiments. The house's floor plan accommodated our family perfectly: we used the two downstairs bedrooms and put the baby's travel crib in the passageway between the living room and master bedroom. One thing I'd note to families with small kids is that there isn't a bathtub; but our girls did fine with a big bowl and some wash cloths in the shower. The setting is idyllic, with views eastward across the lake in one direction and westward over a big pasture in the other direction. We had frigid temps and loads of snow while we were there, but we were still able to play outside a bit, using the sleds stored in the barn on the quiet dead-end road that the house sits at the end of. We also enjoyed a little time at the local branch of the town library, where the librarian was nice enough to let us borrow a few DVDs. It was the perfect "country getaway" that we'd been looking for!

farmhouse on highland lake

My husband and I stayed at the hose for 2 weeks. Our kids and grandkids joined us for 5 or 6 days also. The house came completely as advertised. The descriptions and pictures were very accurate. We also rented the clock shop to accommodate everyone and we all had our own beds even though we were a large group. The kids just loved it. They were either in 1 of the many boats or in the water the entire time. And the yard is quite large and well cared for.-plenty of room for lawn games. It is also very private since it is at the end of a dead end street. The nearby bike trail also got a lot of use. The owners were very accommodating and open to questions or suggestions. We also hiked to the summit of mt Kearsage.

Everyone enjoyed it so much we are talking about doing it next year. And the weather was perfect.

A perfect spot with the kids

  • 5 of 5

We planned a mini-reunion with some old friends, so all together we had 6 children under 7 yrs for the week. This house was perfect for us - plenty of beds, no neighbors to bother with playing children, the lake warm and close, boats, wild berries on the island, and at the end of a dead-end road so we didn't worry about traffic. The breezeway with the swinging chair was great for reading books on the one day it rained a little. And the kitchen was so well stocked with supplies. A perfect week.

My family has stayed at this charming and warm home several times.

It is relaxing, quiet, and peaceful. The convient location offers easy access to many attractions, but we rarely left the lake. We highly recommend it!

We'd recommend this fabulous house to anyone looking for an adventure or a relaxing atmosphere. The jacuzzi is wonderful after a long day of skiing. The lake is so refreshing on a hot day. And don't forget to check out the nearby shopping outlets! We can't wait to go back again....thanks!
