Jennifer purchased this cottage in 2009
We had a really pleasant stay from Jan. 8 - 13. The cottage is sort of like a Duplex where you share the same wall with your neighbor so considerate and quiet people are appreciated and that is exactly what we experienced. Located in Haiku in the country which is what I love, close enough to the beaches and restaurants by car. I'm an old Maui resident so getting around is easy although there are some new places to eat these days. Jennifer your host was very friendly and had everything set out for us. We had a very nice stay and would certainly come back. I think anyone looking for a relaxing place to stay away from West Side would really enjoy it there.
Jennifer was very nice and chill. We stayed in the studio which comes with its own deck! ! For our budget this place was beyond what we expected located in a nice neighborhood in Haiku. Jennifer also hooks up the studio with bath and beach towels, appliances, plates, utensils, etc... I'm overly satisfied! !! Thank you!
I had a last minute trip to Maui and was very lucky to have found that this gem was available for a week. I love this area of the island (away from the tourists) and found the room to be quiet and relaxing. It had everything I needed to be comfortable - a great base to head to every night. Jennifer (the owner) is delightful and made me sure I had everything I needed. Would definitely return!
This property is an ideal location to get away from the tourist hubbub and heat. We loved ending the day in a quiet peaceful and cool spot. The close proximity to the villages of Haiku, Paia, and Makawao gave us the opportunity to get the feel of being a local. The shops and restaurants were great for food and entertainment. The property is beautifully kept and the photos are "what you see is what it is". The distance to the beaches is about 10 miles but not a problem. Jennifer, the property owner, is gracious and helpful and "available" but not too present. Loved the resident chickens and cat.
Jennifer was the first to respond my inquiries to place hunt !
The place as exactly same as listed on the site.It was clean and well maintained.
My kids enjoyed playing with the pets specially Stub the cat and the chickens :-)
I highly recommend this place who plan for Hana road trip.
We spent our honeymoon on Maui and thought it would be romantic to stay in a secluded place, away from the hustle and bustle. Haiku fit the bill - it wasn't too far from numerous locations we visited throughout our time there but we felt like it provided us with a special experience, alone in paradise.
It was a definite cost savings to be able to cook and grill many of our meals. We stopped at Costco, conveniently nearby, to stock up on some essentials. There was also a Super Kmart we frequented as well, great for souvenirs and some essentials.
We enjoyed the chickens and even the rooster that woke us up at the crack of dawn each morning. The friendly cats hung around as well. My husband is allergic, so we didn't let them in the cottage.
We had several days of monsoon quality rain while we were in Maui - but sunshine was typically just an hour or two drive away. One thing I noticed was the bedroom seemed a little "musty" and I'm sure it's due to the dampness.
The bed was comfortable but the headboard made a lot of noise slamming against the wall. Kind of annoying. The shower was awesome, great water pressure and big enough for two to use at once. (Like I mentioned, we were on our honeymoon...) TV had limited channels, we didn't really watch too much in the evening.
We never did see a garden or sheep on the property but it wasn't that big of a deal. There was a tangerine tree, though we didn't partake. The property was gorgeous, full of lush greenery that was a sight to behold.
There was much to see and do in Maui - and even being there ten days or so, we promised one another we'd come back for a second honeymoon in ten years or so.
Haiku was a lovely place and the cottage was ideal for us on this trip!
