BEAUTIFUL WELL EQUIPPED MOUNTAIN CABIN - SUPREME QUIET GREAT VIEWS!

Deep Gap Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Mountain views, 4 BR, 3 1/2 BA, 2700 sq ft, wraparound deck, 2 balconies

Posted nightly rate is for 8 people. Our rates range from 90 for two guests, up to 190 for 14. See schedule of rates below. Email owner for quote, as nightly rates & cleaning fees are calculated based on the number in your party & includes pets at no extra charge (ask owner for details)!

This cabin is centrally located for visiting Blowing Rock, Boone, Lenoir & Leatherwood, plus many NC waterfalls, parks, hiking, biking and many other activities! Your own home away from home cabin to come home to from a day of sight-seeing!

(Note, some maps may show us as being near Deep Gap but we are NOT. We are off of a state maintained road called Sampson between Boone and Blowing Rock)

This home is a joy for families & pets alike! Spacious & homey, with pine paneling throughout. Parents with small children LOVE the deck, as do dog owners.

The Cabin is situated in the Deer Crossing Community, just off of state road Sampson, on Little White Rock Mountain. Rain or shine, the views from the cabin are incredible, in the fall or when the mist moves over the treetops.

The distance from the home to the Blue Ridge Parkway is 7 mi, 9 mi to Blowing Rock, 13.5 miles to Boone, 13.5 mi to App Skiing, 13.1 miles to Kilwins for ice cream, 15.5 miles to great food at Daniel Boone Inn and a visit to App State, Mystery Hill 13.5, Tanger Outlets shopping 12.2, 6.1 miles to horseback riding or fly fishing at Leatherwood (Ferguson)!

Our guests do spelunking at Linville Caverns, hike & boat at Julian Price Lake along the Parkway, white water raft at Wahoo, bike on Railroad Grade rd then tube at Todd while others do some fly fishing & horseback riding at Leatherwood. Some guests have found Wilson Creek to be well suited for canoeing and hiking. There are directions to these locations in the binder just inside the home. You can take one of the pages out, go on your adventure then return the page to the binder for the next visitor. The Blue Ridge Parkway area has many Birding sites. One is located at Julian Price Memorial Park and another is located at Elk Knob near Todd. Check out North Carolina Birding Trail org for more info!

There are wonderful long range layered mountain views from the deck, upstairs balcony and from inside the living room.

We have 4 bedrooms, 2 upstairs come with two double beds that share one bathroom, the master and basement bedrooms have a queen bed and ensuite bathroom.

You will enjoy preparing meals in the well equipped kitchen and grilling on the huge gas grill. Everything you need is at hand! For those not helping in the meal preparation, there is WIFI, PC games & loads of things to check out on the internet. If you find something new & different, like looking for precious stones, print the location directions on the printer to take with you. We hear western NC is a fabulous place for that kind of thing. Good luck mining!

Later, watch TV, get on the internet or watch a movie. For that romantic touch, turn on the fireplace with the remote, watch the flames & pulsating embers, while enjoying the long range layered mountain views.

After a day of hiking, you may want to wash your duds, then play a rousing game of Pool or Foosball. For the family that enjoys various activities, we have 3 DVD players, 2 TVs, & a large basement with space for games. Some of the guests have named the basement 'The Kid Zone'.

The home is great for reading & relaxing. It is so quiet & peaceful. Or just sit & do nothing on one of the 4 swings on the covered & gated, wrap around deck. So many things to enjoy!

This lovely home has features for everyone! Fabulous views, wonderful breezes with a balcony for each upstairs bedroom. The home is very welcoming, decorated with horse prints, photos of Italy & includes some of the photography of a local artist Margaret Denny. We have several antiques in the home that you will enjoy. The antique dining table has several leaves, allowing it to seat 1-8 comfortably. Check out the coffee table, read the inside! There is also an antique book that is fun to page through.

Outside the home, you'll find a reflection bench, a swing surrounded by daffodils in season with long range views. The pond has a soothing waterfall. There is a fenced dog run for your favorite pooches, but can accommodate 2 horses (that get along well).

Bring your cycling, canoeing or fishing gear, the pull through drive way accommodates 5 or more cars, or car & trailer (motorcycle, canoe, horse or 4 wheeler).

There are multiple bird feeders next to the home, come watch the birds! A small supply of bird seed is provided in a black can on the deck, or bring your own. We also have sugar to make food for the two Hummingbird feeders (during the summer)!

This secluded home has irises, daffodils, mountain laurel & rhododendrons. The night time views are spectacular, with the stars so close you think you can touch them. We have a star book to help you identify constellations, plus a pair of binoculars.

Use the drive to the home to enjoy the beautiful scenery, look for wild turkeys & expect deer to be munching along the road. During the recent rains, a waterfall has appeared along Sampson, so look to see if there is water there. Have the kids count the craggy rock locations. Just off the parkway, the kids will enjoy Tow-Mater in Coffeytown. It's fun to see that character where you'd never expect it!

You will love your day trip to laid back Blowing Rock, Kilwins ice cream shop is a must do, as is Tweetsie for the kids (April-Nov). Boone is famous for App state & Mast General Store, plus, Daniel Boone! They say the food at Daniel Boone Inn is terrific! We like to stop in at Earth Fare for organic or other health foods. Don't worry, buy what you want & protect it in one of the Styrofoam coolers. Or, take one with you on a day trip to keep sandwiches & drinks cool.

There are guide books at the home to find the less-traveled hiking paths along the Blue Ridge Parkway and the locations of waterfalls in the area.

This is truly THE place to unplug from the hustle and bustle of life! Just you & nature & your loved ones!

We have granite countertops now, hardwood flooring, new carpeting & flooring in the basement. You and your party are very important to us, so we try to make the home comfy & inviting with everything you need.

My husband is an avid cyclist and I love to ride my paint horse. We love our family and friends and love to entertain them and have fun! This is a vacation home, our main residence is in Pleasant Garden, NC.

We were relocated to NC from Illinois, where we both grew up. I'm originally from Sandy Springs GA. We met over a pitcher of beer after a softball game and have been together now for over 24 years. My husband is so much fun to be with and we love it here in NC. My son and his wife live in Oregon, Wisconsin, a very long distance for a mom to endure! We love our visitors and will go to the nth degree to make your stay wonderful!

Mary Ellen Smith purchased this cabin in 2006

We chose this property because it accommodated both our interests! For my husband, the proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway and all the cycling opportunities it offered, the cooler temps of the mountains and the ability to keep my horse at the property and sometimes trailer the 6.1 miles to Leatherwood for a day of riding. Plus we really love the mountain area. The photo shown here is of a day trip we took to Elk Knob. Elk Knob has a 1.9 mile hiking path to the heavens with heavenly views!

The biggest benefit of this home is that it is very quiet. It has wonderful mountain views, is spacious enough for the whole family so that everyone can do what they please without impacting the others. Proximity to Leatherwood is a real plus! 10$ and a coggins gets you a full day of trail riding! Another sensational feature of the home is the gated wrap around deck. There are 4 swings that allow you to take in the views, the breezes and the pond with waterfall. A favorite is the upstairs bedrooms with private decking. Sit and read or gaze out at the long range views from the back bedroom, or listen to the waterfall below from the front bedroom. The main floor master has access to the deck and has an ensuite bathroom. The basement bedroom has an ensuite bathroom, yet is private. Home includes washer and dryer. The views can be shared from the living room with a french door leading to the deck. With all the windows open, there is rarely a day you need to turn on the AC, but it is at the ready. The home has a wonderful wood stove in the basement and a wall heater, plus an extra refrigerator for those times you have guests for meals. The fenced in paddock will accommodate a horse or your favorite pooch! Also, featuring photography and music by VividPeace.com (Margaret Denny and Jim Pearson) See their site for photos.

Church ladies retreat

Our ladies group had a wonderful visit on our retreat in March. Mary was more than accommodating to work with and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The house met all our needs and we had more than enough space to lounge around and have our meetings that we enjoyed while we were there. The scenery was beautiful around the house, and we made a day trip to blowing rock where it was beautiful as well. We definitely felt closer to the Lord on top of the mountain! We did have a few ladies that get car sick, but thankfully everyone made it up the curvy roads without any incident. It was very peaceful and relaxing and I know everyone enjoyed there time there! Thanks again for everything, it was just what we needed!

Great secluded retreat to spend time with family

Mary was great to work with and let us go a little early since nobody was there the night before. The cabin is very nice & probably has the most well equipped kitchen I've seen in a cabin and the price was awesome! Be advised that it is VERY far out and a good ways on a gravel road. I would suggest buying groceries before you go so you don't have to go back to the grocery store. We never left the cabin. I didn't like that part very much (the curvy-gravel road) but what do you expect for a mountain rental?

We loved the wrap around porch and the swings on the porch and it was nice to let the dog onto the porch without worrying. There isn't any grass so getting the dog to potty was a challenge but she finally found some leaves to go in & all was good. :) The weather started out crappy on FRI but was beautiful by the time we left on MON.
My only complaint and the only reason I rated 4 instead of 5 would be that there were no TVs in the upstairs bedrooms or the master bedroom on the main floor and if it told that in the listing I must have missed it because I wouldn't have rented it without that. There were plenty of books, games and things to do but my elderly mother was with us (staying in the main bedroom) and all she likes to do is watch TV. Lucky for us there was a computer that played DVDs so I rounded them up in the cabin and she watched movies but this was really inconvenient. I have Netflix so I had hoped we could just stream it onto the computer but that didn't work either. There is WiFi but the computer is so old it wouldn't work and the WiFi isn't fast enough to stream. Overall a very nice secluded cabin in the NC mountains.

Owner's Response: thanks for staying with us. I'll make sure the listing shows that there are two satellite TV's, each operational of each other, one on the main level and one in the basement. good point. The area doesn't yet have high speed internet but that is projected for the end of 2014, so they promise. As for dogs and grass, we don't have much grass this time of year, but the side of the home has plenty of leaves and there is lots of grass/weeds in the fenced in area. We've never had a comment on needing pet grass as those who walk their dogs do so with baggies, which we have loads of for disposal.

As for very far out, it is 7 miles from the parkway, seems like a long drive and yes, best if you bring what you need for your meals, (we recommend this in our listing). Most of our guests go back and forth into town for what they need and the kitchen has the rest.

I'll be sure to note in the listing that not all the bedrooms have a TVs.

I do thank you for feedback and for staying with us!

If you are seeking peace and quiet then this mountain home is the perfect place! My husband and I and our dogs truly enjoyed just relaxing inside this beautiful and well equipped home. The area to us is perfect. Away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We love traveling and exploring the gravel roads and the paved roads in the area. You cannot get lost. Blowing Rock, Boone and Wilksboro is all within 25 miles. We are familiar with the are and we loved being away from it all and just relaxing! We will be back!

Rained the first day but mostly perfect! We explored, went to Tweetsie, had a blast there, came back and roasted hotdogs and smores, so delicious! We met a deer with tiny antlers, a flock of wild turkeys and chipmunks running around the road. We mostly relaxed! Tweetsie was my favorite moment as we had a blast with family!
