Nestled in a cove on Seneca Lake, Scooter's offers a 90-foot private beach and pristine, clear water that is perfect for swimming right off the dock! About Gary Dinan

I have lived my entire life on Seneca lake. I have raised my family here. This cottage was my summer home for 29 years until I moved a few miles down the lake to be closer to my family this past season. I just love this place and I want others to enjoy it as well!

Gary Dinan purchased this cottage in 1984

Why Gary Dinan chose Geneva

This particular property has only seen 3 owners. The family I purchased it from had owned it since 1940. It is sort of an historic gem, as it was occupied by the 'B' Company prior to 1940. The view is just fabulous. The privacy is so enjoyable.

What makes this cottage unique

Fishing off the dock / campfires on the beach / lake view from every room or enjoy the winery across the road. Non-motorized boats for your use free of charge! So many places to sit and enjoy the lake, it will be hard to decide on your favorite spot!

Cozy lakefront cottage

  • 4 of 5

This cottage is small and cozy, but clean and taken care of. The location is amazing, it is close to town if you need anything and a convenient drive to trails and wineries. It is right on the water, and felt very private. The deck is amazing, and there is a great view of the lake from almost anywhere on the property. Also, amazing sunrise view over the lake right from the bedroom window! The property owners were helpful, willing to answer any questions, and returned our deposit quickly. We appreciated that there was a gas grill, however I think its best days are behind it. My only complaint about this place were the incredibly low ceilings on the majority of the first floor of this cottage. The entire kitchen/cooking area and a majority of the living space have at most 6 feet of clearance. We had two guys over 6'3" with us on this trip, and they both left with dings on their head and sore necks from hunching. Tall people beware- otherwise great!

Owner's Response: As you view the pictures you can see that the description that this person offers is not accurate. I am 6'3 and and don't seem to have the same issue. The gas grill is completely functional as other guests have used it to the point where I have replaced the propane tank 3 times this season. We have, however, decided to upgrade to a new infra-red gas grill for our guests' enjoyment. Keep in mind this is an affordable seasonal cottage.

Cozy Cottage, Pleasant Stay, Great Views

  • 4 of 5

We spent a very pleasant few days at Scooter's Cove. The house had everything we needed, the lake views were magnificent, we were able to watch the sun rise over the lake without getting out of bed. Nearby Watkins Glen, biking trails, and Sonnenberg Manor were enjoyable day trips. The owner was pleasant and professional.

In a Word, Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful little cottage, snugged neatly up along the shore of Seneca lake, served as the perfect setting for a last-minute getaway. Due to time constraints, my wife and I knew we couldn't be picky about the locale or price, but never in a million years did we anticipate finding a gem like this.

First of all, the owner and property caretaker was hospitable and a pleasure to work with (and he had our deposit mailed back to us in less than a week!!). Secondly, the accommodations are beautiful, quaint, simple, but all the while cozy and inviting. The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking utensils, pots, pans, an adequately sized fridge, flatware, a microwave, and out on the patio area there is a capable little gas grill that served our needs admirably. The sleeping arrangement was perfect, with one queen (or maybe double, I don't remember) for my wife and me, and several bunk beds used by the couple we shared the weekend with. Outside, the row boat, canoe, and beach got hours of use as we enjoyed the privacy and serenity of the lake. Surprisingly, there was almost no boat traffic near our portion of the lake all weekend, and the adjacent properties were either vacant or very quiet, so it felt like we really did have the place to ourselves. My friend and I enjoyed a good bit of fishing from the dock's end, though neither of us caught much (more an indicator of our lack of skill than the lack of fish).

An overwhelmingly enjoyable weekend, and certainly in the running for future getaways.

Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful cabin. Right on the lake so we didn't have to return our rental boat every night. We were there for 2 nights. Fishing was great. Built a fire in the firepit both nights. I would definately go back.

Perfect for small family

  • 4 of 5

My family had a wonderful time at Scooter’s Cove and look forward to going back. The cottage size and amenities were just what we needed and could accommodate our family of four very well. We used the boats (row and canoe) each day to tour the lake. The water around the cottage is clear and nice for swimming although most other parts of the lake had a lot of seaweed. Our girls could spend hours on the beach finding various treasures and enjoyed a bon fire at night as well. The surrounding area is beautiful and we spent lots of time at parks hiking and went to a winery as well. The property is private but you are also close enough to town if you need anything. The property is clean and well maintained and the owners are close by (and wonderul) should you need anything.

Wonderful experience

  • 5 of 5

This was the quintessential lake house experience. We loved the property, very well maintained and clearly a source of pride for the owners. The home is close to town while feeling secluded and private. Truly awesome lakefront scenery, some nice wineries nearby, a fabulous Wegman's (if you don't know Wegman's, you're in for a treat). Other key comments: the water was crystal clear for swimming; the sunrise was amazing; and the stars at night were incredible from this vantage point. If you're looking for privacy and a good space to enjoy the lake, this may well be the place for you. Our thanks to the owners for being so accommodating and pretty much anticipating whatever we could have needed during our stay. We certainly plan to return one day!
