Why George Vona chose West Tisbury
Martha's Vineyard is a resort island with great beaches but it's more than that. It has an amazing history from the Wampanoag legends of the great chief Moshup through to the colonial days, the whaling industry, and the burgeoning vacation industry of the mid-19th century. So much of the historic architecture is intact and you feel like you stepped back in time. Join the sing-along at the Camp Meeting grounds during Illumination Night and you will feel like stepped into a Norman Rockwell painting. There are tons of great restaurants, great galleries, lots of hiking, biking, sight-seeing. You can be as busy as you like or you can just spend your time in perfect tranquility.
What makes this house unique
When we decided to buy, we wanted to find a little piece of heaven: Something that was secluded but still close to all the places we like to visit. Something we wanted to come back to over and over again. And we found it! The property is located on the great Old House Pond. Ice used to be harvested on this pond for the island. It is legendary on the Vineyard for its freshwater swimming. There is now limited public access to the pond but this property is located directly on the banks of the pond.
