Tammy is from North Carolina and has directed non-profit youth programs and a local Americorps program. She is currently on a sabbatical while starting a business to assist seniors in navigating the adventures of aging. Tammy has worked to be a good steward of the land, these mountains and our mother earth: growing her own fruits and vegetables, preserving them for the winter, recycling and composting all garbage, trying to reuse instead of buying new when possible. Efforts are always made to buy local and American made products. After a great deal of planning and hard work, Tammy is excited to invite you for a luxurious, romantic stay in the cabin!

Why the Owner Chose Asheville:

Tammy planned and renovated this cabin with her own two hands over the last twenty years, while continuing to work full-time. She started the project with the goal of renovating a cabin with a small carbon footprint and utilizing many materials from the mountain. WOW, what a project! With lots and lots of hard work and the loving support of her family the cabin is ready for guests. Why the property? Tammy spent most of her childhood in this area and fell in love with the beauty and majesty of these mountains in the Pisgah National Forest at an early age. When looking to move back to the area and purchase a home in 1991, she would only look at homes in the Candler/Upper Hominy area believing this to be the most beautiful community in the Asheville area. Twenty years ago Tammy began to clear land and landscape the 4-acre property. The project was worth it---she built a mountain oasis beyond belief.

The cabin provides all of the modern comforts in a peaceful wooded setting at the base of Mt. Pisgah. The yearround views of the mountain through the large glass windows are spectacular. Couples can enjoy both the sunrise and the sunset over the mountain tops. The property is a certified wildlife habitat proving the four basic elements needed for wildlife to thrive: food water, cover and places to raise their young. The wooded canopy of oaks, poplar and maple cover the mountain view during the summer months, and provide cool shade for relaxing outside on the decks, gazebo or in the hammock beside the waterfall. The cabin is positioned so that passive solar assists the heating and cooling.

Cozy Romantic Cabin to get away from it all

  • 5 of 5
Great Cabin, the picture do not do this cabin justice. The grounds and views are wonderful to see. The only complaint I have was a few of the lights weren't working (wall sconces) which made it a little darker in the cabin to see.

Owner's Response: I am glad that you liked the cabin. Thank you for pointing out the problem with the lights. I just learned that the sconces weren't working and I have already replaced the switch. I also added to the instruction booklet that the track lights are on a dimmer switch and light the entire room when turned up. I just planted the fall garden this week with kale, beets, turnips, collards spinach and lettuce. The grapes are ripe now and we still have cucumbers and tomatoes. I hope to see you again soon.

Excellent view

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I go on vacation to Asheville at least once a year. We've stayed in several rental houses. This was one of the best. It was nice to have use of the garden. We used the onions, squash, raspberries, radicchio, and asparagus. The house wasn't big but the design was very open making it feel very roomy. The view from inside the house was great because of all the windows, and the view outside was very nice too since an area was cleared away and a table set up. We enjoyed breakfast there and watching the full moon rise. We also loved being so close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The road lead right up to the Pisgah Inn area where there was plenty of hiking and sightseeing opportunities. And it's not too far of a drive into downtown Asheville.

Owner's Response: I am glad that you enjoyed your stay! The view is amazing up there. It was great that you were able to use so many of the fruits and veggies. I am planting the fall garden next week so there will be plenty of fall and winter veggies lasting until mid winter. I hope that you will return to the mountains soon. Thanks for leaving the cabin so clean!
Peace Always,
Tammy

Hidden gem in the NC Mountains

  • 5 of 5
Our only regret is that we did not plan to stay for enough time! This place was adorable, extra clean, great landscaping with flowers, veggies, and so much more. Pictures do not do it justice! We felt like we were using a close friend's house with all of the great furnishings and decor the place had to offer not to mention flowers in bloom, water features and so much more. It did not "feel" like your average vacation rental. We were lucky enough to meet the horses on our final night. We took in all of the great views on all sides of the house and enjoyed the cozy accomodations. I took 100 photos in two days so if anyone intersted in viewing those I would be happy to share. We will definitely be back!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your wonderful review! I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay. Feeding the horses is one of my favorite things do to each night. The garden is beautiful this year allowing each guest to pick lots of fresh vegetables for dinner. I really appreciate how clean you left the cabin.
Peace Always,
Tammy

Would recommend this cabin rental. Very comfortable & clean. Up a rough gravel single lane road but really really perfect location. Quiet. Just far enough away from downtown Asheville. And you get to pick fruit & veggies from the garden! Very very nice! Wonderful outdoor sitting areas with great views. Thanks Tammy!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay! The garden is full of squash, cucumbers, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and lots of culinary herbs ready to be picked and enjoyed by our guests. During the summer months the nights are cool and the tree frogs from the ponds hosts a symphony each night accompanied by the light show from the lightening bugs. I hope that you will return next year. Thank you for leaving the cabin so clean!

Our visit was quite amazing. Pictures don't do it justice. You immediately notice the love and care that has been put into this property. I've been selfishly keeping it to myself but realized it was a mistake. If you are a couple looking to enjoy the mountains this is the place to go.

Owner's Response: Thank you! I am so glad that you had a great time. It is really nice at this time of year to pick the fresh strawberries and vegetables from the garden, fix dinner and relax at the table on the upper deck. I look forward to your return. Peace Always,

Quiet and Relaxing with Great Views!

  • 5 of 5
My Boyfriend and I chose to go to Asheville to celebrate our anniversary and my birthday. This cabin was PERFECT for us! It was so cute and cozy, all of the amenities we needed and the perfect size. The dressing room was great for us to store all of our stuff and keep the studio portion of the cabin open and clean. The kitchen had all the tools we needed to cook dinner and make breakfast/ coffee in the mornings. Unfortunately it was rainy the weekend we were there so we did not get to enjoy the hot tub but the views from the decks are fantastic! We did get a little sunshine Sunday morning before heading out and enjoyed our coffee at the cute bistro table looking down to the farm below. The cabin has windows on 3 sides of the main room with views all around you. Amazing! Friday we spent the day in Asheville getting lunch, shopping and having drinks. Stopped at the local Trader Joes to get food to cook dinner at the cabin. Saturday we hoped to do some local hiking trails but due to the rain we had a lazy morning relaxing in the cabin and then headed back into Asheville for the afternoon. Spent some time at a few of the local breweries (there are so many!) and then had dinner out. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a nice relaxing, quiet getaway with easy access to the city and downtown.

Only 16 miles from downtown Asheville, the cabin is located beside the Pisgah National Forest. Hiking trails are abundant only minutes away on the Blue Ridge Parkway. March to November you can enjoy breakfast at the Pisgah Inn on the Blue Ridge Parkway. A favorite downtown shopping spot in Asheville, Hendersonville, and Waynseville is Mast General Store. Our favorite restaurants are the Admiral and Curate', you must make reservations early though. Other great plances to dine in downtown Asheville include Limones, Salsa, Zombra, Tupelo Honey and Mela.
