Hi! We are Gisele Plouffe and Guy Keller and are the owners of this property. We also live on the premises. Gisele is a local real estate agent at Sotheby's International Realty in Los Feliz, and Guy is a General Contractor. Silver Lake has been our home for about 15 years and we love it here.
Gisele is an LA native and Guy is a mid-west transplant of 30 years, which makes him a native as well. The other resident of the property is our cat 'Pepi le pew'. He can be seen roaming the property.
The two of us have restored many property's back to their original glory. Dahlia Lodge is just one of them. It is our passion to bring these old residences back to life!
Gisele Plouffe purchased this lodge in 2011
Los Angeles as well as Silver Lake is our home. We LOVE it here! We chose this area because it has a great diversity of people, architecture, history, art, cafes, restaurants, and nature. We are close to downtown, midtown and the beach. We can be in the desert in a couple of hours, any local beaches or skiing on snow in the same amount of time. We have it all here along with great weather.
When we first bought this property, everyone that walked into the Lodge said 'WOW'. It has that 'WOW' factor! We bought it from a mature lady who had let the lodge run down, Guy & I lovingly restored it back to its original glory.
It is surrounded by windows on all sides and the sunset views are beautiful from there. We know anyone staying there will enjoy it and return to stay.
This was all we were looking for and more! Nestled in a perfect part of LA. We would stay here again, again and again!
We loved this quiet oasis in LA. The Lodge is charming and is centrally located with nearby access to major freeways. Silver Lake is a great hillside residential neighborhood with nearby restaurants. After spending the day visiting attractions and dealing with LA's traffic, it was relaxing to come back to this quiet retreat and enjoy refreshments on the patio. We awoke to birds chirping and felt like we were in an upscale mountain cabin, not in the heart of LA.
We had two nights in Los Angeles before our journey through the desert, and this place was perfect. Near silent, hard to believe we were in the city, and the landscaping was so beautiful, I nearly resented my social obligations as I enjoyed nothing more than reading on that patio. Meticulous attention to detail, one of our favorite rentals. Definitely will book for our next SoCal adventure. Thank you so much.
We very much enjoyed at The Lodge. The living area inside is old-fashioned and lovely. It's also very comfortable. The kitchen and bathroom are clean a very please. The neighborhood is very attractive. We did a bit of walking the area; there are interesting houses and fascinating plants to look at. The Lodge is within a 20 minute walk of Sunset Blvd, where we found two restaurants that we liked (near Golden Gate Ave: El Cochinito (Cuban food) and Alegria. It's far enough away from Sunset Blvd so that things are very quiet, and we slept well.
There is a flight of stairs to get into and out of it, so do not take this one if you must have an elevator.
My husband and I stayed here for three nights with our daughter as an unexpected guest. Even though it is a studio with a double bed in a corner, it was very comfortable for all of us. The secluded patio made for an extra room. Our daughter slept on the comfy couch but the owners had brought over a twin mattress in case we needed it. The neighborhood is very quiet and parking was never a problem. A yummy.com grocery store was a few blocks away and a great restaurant and bar, The Cliff's Edge, is across from yummy's - all walkable although the Lodge is on a hill.
This rustic lodge is very charming, comfortable and clean. Although my wife and I have previously stayed at the Dahlia Chateau, which was exceptional, this was our first stay at the Dahlia Lodge. This property also exceeded our expectations. We especially enjoyed have a glass of wine or two out on the upper patio in the evening. The owners do a nice job in making your stay enjoyable. We would definitely return to this property.
This home is located in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles. Silver Lake is in the East Hollywood Hills area of LA. Forbes magazine called Silver Lake number one of 'America's Best Hipster neighborhoods'. Celebrated modernist as well as varied architecture, local farmers markets, shops and cafes are everywhere. A multicultural blend of residents with electric professionals and a booming arts scene.
The Lake (which is a reservoir in City terms) has a walking path surrounding it, with a dog park and recreation center at the South end. Local attractions include the Hollywood Sign, Griffith Observatory, LA Zoo, Greek Theater, Hollywood walk of fame, and Hollywood & Highland. Silver Lake is also Downtown LA close, for the many attractions to be seen there.
The owners live on the property as well, and are available to recommend good eating spots and many local must sees!
The home is situated North of Sunset Boulevard in a lovely residential neighborhood. It is walking distance to the farmers market, as well as cafe's, eateries and bars.
