Come visit our peaceful, fun and family friendly retreat on Lime Lake in stunning Leelanau County, Michigan. Recently voted one of the world's most beautiful places, Leelanau County is known for its idyllic countryside, lakes, beaches, roadside fruit stands and beautiful scenery.
We are pleased to welcome you to our waterfront, Lighthouse inspired home. Nestled at the end of a private road on emerald green Lime Lake, the water is gin clear with depths suitable for wading and swimming (12-24 inches). The water reaches into the high 70 degree temperatures in July and August. Bring your water toys or boat and enjoy the fishing, tubing, skiing or a sunset cruise. Or relax in the sun, read and soak up the sounds of Michigan. We have a newly installed dock with a 12 x 10 foot platform at the end. There is a deck at the house that faces the lake and a firepit by the water's edge to roast marshmallows or sit by as you view the spectacular stars.
The house is extremely comfortable with a great room, open kitchen and dining area, family room loft and 3 bedrooms (King, Queen and 2 Twin over Full bunks). You can even view most of Lime Lake (and beyond) from our very own look out tower. We have two bathrooms (shower upstairs, tub/shower down) - one in the master suite upstairs and one shared downstairs.
Near miles of pristine Lake Michigan beaches on the National Lakeshore and situated almost halfway between Leland and Glen Arbor Michigan (off M-22), our home is the perfect spot for your family's vacation. We are surrounded by Sleeping Bear National Park with hiking trails, tennis, and skiing/snowmobiling in the winter months. If you are a golfer, enjoy the Manitou Passage Golf Club, an Arnold Palmer course, that is only 1/2 mile from the house.
It is a quick 25-30 minutes to Traverse City (and TC airport) where you can shop, take a sail on a Tall Ship, see a movie, attend one of its many summer festivals, have dinner or simply stroll along its main street. The Interlochen Academy for the Arts with its world renowned music and theater performances is also nearby. Michigan is becoming well known for its wineries, with more than two dozen local wineries nearby.
You will not run out of ways to relax or things to do at our special retreat.
Have used VRBO on several other occasions and this is one of the best. Very nicely equipped with everything one could want. Great kitchen. Good family room area plus extra space to spread out as needed. Friendly communications from owner. Highly recommended.
Our multi-generational (ages 13 to 86) family vacation on Lime Lake was one we will always remember. The house itself had everything a family would need...laundry room, 'quiet' areas, well appointed kitchen and bath and plenty of room to gather together. Lots of outdoor chairs and loungers made it easy to relax by the water and enjoy the beautiful view. We celebrated our anniversary there and had a small dinner outside on the lawn. It was the perfect setting. Throughout the week it was an easy drive to all of the area activities... Sleeping Bear Dunes, cherry picking, Fishtown, area restaurants (Pegtown Station has a GREAT breakfast). We loved our stay and look forward to returning!
The house was great! It had everything we needed & were looking for. We loved the "gin clear" lake although the water was still really cold. We enjoyed the fire pit, swing, & playing games in the backyard- it was big enough for our Kubb matches. We also loved the beautiful flowers & great views of Lime Lake. Our adult daughter painted great watercolors of each. The location was very convenient to many great activities & food/drink. We would highly recommend- hiking in Sleeping Bear Dunes N.L., exploring Mission Peninsula (including the wineries) & Traveres City, golf @ Manitou Passage, food & shops in Leeland, and the GREAT taco stand in Cedar. We loved our 1st vacation in MI & will definitely be back.
We spent a fun and relaxing week at this Lime Lake place. It was private, but really quite convenient. It was well appointed and we had everything and more to feel immedeately at home. There was plenty of room for our family.
Our family enjoyed an amazing vacation on Lime Lake in this gorgeous home. It was beautifully appointed and had everything we needed for everyone -- aged 6 to 76! The picturesque lake was shallow by the shore (great for our kids), deep in the middle, and perfect for kayaking; Crystal River Outfitters in Glen Arbor offered free drop-off and pick-up. We saw pontoon boats, fishing boats, and jet skis on the lake as well -- so that seems to be an option for folks interested in faster boat travel! We also swam and enjoyed floating around on the beach toys/rafts provided. S'mores around the lakeside fire pit in the evening. Perfect for kids and adults of all ages. We were close to everything we wanted to do at Sleeping Bear Dunes -- the Dune Climb, hiking, beaches, biking the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail, golfing at various courses. Everything seemed to be within a 15-25 minute drive. Easily worth it for this gorgeous, quiet location. Owner could not have been nicer or more helpful. This cottage is a no-brainer.... Best rental cottage ever!
Could not ask for a better vacation house. Gorgeous house, spacious and comfortable, every detail covered. Secluded yet close to everything. Gorgeous sunsets, beautiful lake, perfect for kids -- water is shallow out to almost 100 yards. Bring a boat if you have one, or rent one in advance. Would absolutely recommend to anyone!
