Overview

Estes Park House Rental Photos and Description

5 Bedroom, 4 Bath Home Located In A Beautiful, Mountainous Neighborhood

This 5 bedroom, 4 bath home is located in a beautiful, mountainous neighborhood at the base of what is known as 'Old Man Mountain' It is just 5 blocks or 1/2 mile from the west end of downtown Estes Park, and only 2 blocks to the river walk trail that goes through downtown all the way to and around Lake Estes. It is also close to the north entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park.

The interior of the house was completely remodeled in the spring of 2012. It has all new cabinets with stone tile countertops, all new appliances, all new tile, fixtures, and faucets in the bathrooms, and new bedroom carpet, and hardwood floors in the kitchen, dining room, and living room. Besides being very tasteful, the home has a warm, cozy, mountain feel to it.

The property has a hot tub that seats 6 people, has 38 jets, underwater lights, bucket seats, foot jet and a lounge.

On the property are mature ponderosa pine trees and some truly amazing rock formations that provide wonderful privacy and play. The deck on the back side of the house is surrounded by rocks and trees and invites a peaceful, quiet outdoor living experience.

Old Man Mountain is a popular hiking area close to downtown Estes Park. It is one of the oldest and largest sacred Native American sites in Colorado. The area has many sloping rock walls and ledges, which offer access to the top. The view of the Estes Valley is well worth the hike/climb.

About Mick & Judy Scarpella

Hi, we are Mick and Judy Scarpella, the owners of the home at Old Man Mountain. In March 2012 we were blessed to find this magical property but it needed some major attention. So, we spent four long months tearing everything out and putting it all back new. Then we added a Family Room. The end result was better than expected. We love to come here and hang out when it is not rented. Old Man Mountain feels like home with the added serenity of wild creatures that seem to feel as much at home on our property and the surrounding area as we do. Just today, we were getting ready to go home to Fort Collins when I walked out the garage door and found myself staring at a six point Bull Elk munching grass. We have a pesky little pine squirrel living under our storage shed. I named him Sam. He showed up as a baby when I was doing the remodel and made me laugh. Now I threaten to transplant him because he chews the new growth off of our ponderosa pine trees. I also love the wild turkeys. They march through like they own the place and look at us like we are a nuisance. Judy and I grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado so Estes Park and RMNP have been in our blood for a long time. I (Mick) have spent many days--and nights--on the high mountain walls, ice falls and steep snow slopes along the continental divide. Look up from Estes Valley, you will see those black walls and near vertical snow slopes. You will also see the climbing areas of Lumpy Ridge, the Craiges and the rugged east face of Longs Peak, referred to as 'The Diamond'. One would be hard pressed to find a place amidst this natural beauty where I haven't stretched myself on something scary. Now I enjoy hanging out at Old Man Mountain with Judy. Drinking a cup of coffee in the morning while looking out the dining area window or sitting on the deck makes both of us grateful for our Estes home. The only enhancement we need is our grandchildren climbing on our rocks, filling the air with laughter.

Why Mick & Judy Scarpella chose Estes Park

We looked at seven or eight properties on the day we started our search for a second home in Estes Park. We came back to this one because it felt right. We could look past the needed remodel and see the potential. But it was the property that really drew us. The rock formations, the old growth ponderosa pines and Old Man Mountain rising up across the street felt like it had history with a sense of permanence.

Fantastic Family Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

This is the third time we have stayed a long weekend in this home with our family of seven. It is a great location, close to town and to Rocky Mountain National Park. The kids love the large rocks outside to play and run around on. We love to hike Old Man Mountain or just relax and watch the wildlife that comes through. The house is clean, spacious, and has everything we could want, this place feels like home. Definitely plan to come back.

Family Christmas vacation

  • 5 of 5

We took our family of 9 adults and 2 small children to Old Man Mountain and had a wonderful Christmas vacation here. The location is ideal for access to the town. Even when the roads are icy and slick, we were able to make the drive. It's also a very short trip to Rocky Mountain Natl Park, where we went snowshoeing for the first time and really had fun there. The house is very well equipped; we did not lack for anything, including a baby gate and a pack-n-play that we weren't expecting but were very glad to find. We also loved watching the wild turkeys walk through the property in the mornings and there are elk everywhere. It's a lovely home and we had a most enjoyable vacation there. Thank you!

Absolutely wonderful

  • 5 of 5

We were in town for a wedding and five couples stayed here. There was definitely enough space for all of us and the amenities were great. We saw two elk in the backyard as well as many more wildlife in the area. We were able to go to the Christmas parade on Friday night in Estes Park which was also amazing. Great vacation home!! Thank you!

Wonderful stay at the base of Old Man Mountain.

  • 5 of 5

This property is a wonderful home away from home. Rocky Mountain National Park a short distance away, grocery store in driving distance, shopping in downtown Estes Park, restaurants nearby. The location is perfect! 4 adults and 4 children in our group, enough beds and bathrooms for all. The house is very spacious, clean and well maintained. And the kids loved the yard and wildlife that wandered by.

We felt very much at home the first night. We will definitely be returning in the future and hope this home is available.

Yes, Five Stars

  • 5 of 5

Renting this house was the best decision I made when planning my little destination wedding. My guests loved the house, and felt so comfortable there that it set the whole tone for our stay. The place is beautifully, tastefully, and thoughtfully appointed (even adorable plastic dishes to feed a toddler). The notes to the guests had just the right tone, and the owners truly have thought of everything. The house has a very convenient location, the owners are responsive and businesslike, and the house is every bit as good as the online pictures. This is truly a home-away-from-home when visiting Estes Park.

I would also recommend the Waterfront Grille, where we had our reception dinner, as an excellent restaurant with a stupendous view, and a very photogenic herd of Elk on the grounds.

EXACTLY WHAT WE NEEDED!

  • 5 of 5

This home was beautifully updated, well-maintained, comfortable, and exceptionally clean. Perfect for our gathering of friends and family. Had everything we needed and plenty to do (hot tub, lots of TV/DVDs, games, gathering space, washer/dryer). Yard was beautiful--kids loved crawling over the boulders. Well-positioned near town, but in a quiet, calm neighborhood. Enjoyed the woodsy mountain feel. Exceeded all our expectations! We would love to come again!
