I stayed here with my elderly parents and sister for a week in July 2014. From my initial questions right through to our departure, things could not have been better. Ruth was prompt in her responses my my numerous questions before booking which gave me peace of mind when trying to book a holiday with family with mobility issues. Gordon was on hand when we arrived to assist my parents up the 5 steps as it was absolutely pouring. Luckily that didn't last and we had a beautiful week of sunshine. The lounge and open plan kitchen were spacious and perfectly equipped with lovely bone china mugs ( large) and cups/ saucers if you preferred, very nice crockery and plenty of glasses for wine and soft drinks. It was lovely to sit each morning and enjoy a leisurely breakfast while watching the sea life in front of our eyes. The seals really do sit on the rocks every day :) The bedrooms are compact with everything required for a home from home holiday. Plenty of storage, lovely towels and bedlinen and a hairdryer in each room :) Great flat screen tv in the lounge with DVD player and the normal free view channels for our evenings entertainment. I spent most of my evenings on the balcony, glass of wine in hand, watching the beautiful sunsets. Girvan is 7 miles away and has a well stocked supermarket which we used for supplies. Transport links were super be it road or rail. We used to live in Kilmacolm so knew the area well and it was lovely to revisit childhood memories, Culzean Castle, Dunure, Largs and all the surrounding areas. Fabulous restaurant in Kirkoswald next door to Souter Johnnies House, The Souters Inn. Highly recommend it but I advise booking. So it had to come to an end and after a wonderful week we invited Ruth, Gordon and their grandson to join us watching our final sunset with a glass of wine. What a lovely family they are and how lucky to live with all that beauty on their doorstep. I have made new friends and hope to go back again soon. I would definitely recommend this beautiful place :) Jan

Owner's Response: Hi Jan,
It was a privilege and a pleasure to meet and get to know such a warm and loving family and so sad waving you off but hopefully it won't be too long before you return, there will always be a warm welcome waiting for you (and wine chilling in the fridge!). Thank you for the invite to share your last sunset and the great company, your Mum is an inspiration with her love of poetry and her words that brought it all to life, I often reflect on it. Really glad you enjoyed your time at Lendalfoot and feel like we have made lifelong friends, thank you.
Thank you, Ruth and Gordon for allowing us to stay in your beautiful log cabin. The cabin was immaculate, cosy and very comfortable, just as described on the website and in previous reviews. The beds were comfortable with lovely linens and plenty of storage space. The living area was spacious, allowing us room to prepare meals, dine and sit and relax all the while enjoying stunning views of the sea, the majestic Ailsa Craig and the rugged Ayrshire coastline. Absolutely beautiful!!! During the booking process, Ruth was prompt with responses, friendly and courteous. During our stay, Gordon was always at hand if we needed anything and he provided us all the information we needed to make the best of our holiday.. We felt as though we were staying with friends. It was a wonderful week and hopefully we can return in the future sometime. I have no hesitation recommending the cabin to others. It was a perfect experience from beginning to end!

Owner's Response: Thank you Gillian for taking the time to write such a wonderful review and all of your kind words. It was a pleasure and privilege to have met such a warm and friendly family and there will always be a warm welcome waiting for you if you do manage a return visit. I hope you had a comfortable journey back to Canada.
First impressions were WOW!. The views from The Log Cabin are truly breathtaking. From the moment we arrived at the property we felt at home, it was unbelievably spacious and spotlessly clean. The welcome basket on arrival was a lovely surprise and the bottle of wine in the fridge was enjoyed on the first evening across at the beach watching the tide roll in. Even after reading the reviews my expectations were surpassed, the views seemed surreal. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners and the locals are really friendly and informative. The only sad part of the holiday was driving away as one week is definately not long enough, we will return ASAP!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind comments and being such a lovely couple. So glad you enjoyed your break and took away so many happy memories.
We really do not have a lot to add to the reviews already written here, they all say how fantastic the cabin is and that, I think, is a slight understatement!! It was so comfortable, it felt like home the moment we walked in the door. As for the welcome basket, highly appreciated! We used the cabin as a base for our tour of Western (and Eastern) Scotland going as far north as Kelburn Castle & Country Park, as far east as Edinburgh where our son performed at the Fringe festival and as far west as the Isle of Arran! One thing I would say, if you do take a day trip to Arran via ferry, do not skimp on the ticket price and take your car. We didn't and wished that we had, the bus service there is virtually non existant! All in all, a great weeks holiday was had by all, despite having driven a total of 1600 miles in all!! We will be back, without a shadow of a doubt!

Owner's Response: Thank you Stephen for the lovely review. So happy you had a lovely holiday and enjoyed your stay. Really looking forward to welcoming you back to The Log Cabin and Lendalfoot.
We have just returned from a happy Christmas and New year at this wonderful property. My wife, daughter, son in law, new baby grandson (3 months old) and myself have really enjoyed the festive period spent at this delightful place. We really felt at home and have collected some memories we will cherish forever. The climate was so mild for this time of year and what a beautiful unspoilt coastline. The views were out of this world!. The Log Cabin was spacious, well equiped and warm. The owners are really friendly and accomodating, nothing was too much trouble. Looking forward to returning and exploring the caves of the legendary Sawney Bean and a boat trip to Ailsa Craig. I would highly recommend The Log Cabin and Lendalfoot, there is only one word to describe it AMAZING!

The beautiful Hamlet of Lendalfoot is located at the foot of the river Lendal. The Property has unspoilt coastal views of The Ailsa Craig, Arran and Kintyre. There is a private slipway onto the beach. The Russian Maritime Memorial is just a short stroll along the beach. The picturesque harbour village of Girvan is 7 miles along the coast road. World famous Turnberry golf course is only a short drive away. Further along the coast is Culzean Castle which can be approached from the road or from a walk along Croy Shore (where you can often enjoy the entire walk without seeing another soul along the way and just enjoy the peace and solitude. I have done this many times and would definately recommend it). If you drive further along the coast you can experience the magic of the famous Electric Brae, then onto the tiny harbour village of Dunure (used as a film location for episodes of the tv series Taggart) with stunning views, scenery and castle ruins. Ayr is your next major attraction.
