|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Complete stem to stern refit of a classic Chris Craft Roamer has been completed, and you are invited to be one of the first guests to experience the charm and character of this boat from a bygone era! Built in 1965, this Chris Craft was crown jewel of their offerings for this year. At 57 feet long and 16 feet wide she commands quite a presence, and you and your family will feel like royalty when you step aboard.
Asylum, as the boat is now named can fit up to 12 guests in 3 private staterooms, one dinette conversion in the galley, sleep sofa in the living room and air mattress in the helm. Each of these areas provides privacy and personal space for all aboard. Both the master bedroom and bunk room in the bow have their own en suite heads while the vip stateroom and the other spaces share a common head. With three bathrooms on the boat, getting ready to head out for a day of sight seeing is not a scheduling nightmare . Additionally there are showers and restrooms on shore that offer more flexibility.
The yacht is comprised of 4 levels, so if you anyone in your group has difficulty with stairs, this may not be an ideal choice for your stay. You enter in to the boat through the main deck level. As you walk up the stairs from the dock you can proceed one of the three ways. A walk down the companionway on the right leads to the sunning foredeck. With lounge chairs and a built in bench this area is sure to be a favorite with your group. A turn left at the top of the stairs leads you to the aft deck of the boat. Here you will find a bistro set, perfect for that morning cup of coffee, or evening glass of wine. Adjacent to this area is the ladder to the flybridge. On the flybridge you will find built in bench seating surrounding the captains station and additional lounge chairs. From this position you will have a commanding view of the surrounding areas.
Proceeding forward through the sliding door of the helm from the top of the stairs you will enter the main cabin of the boat. You may feel like you have been transported back in time. With a built in mahogany couch at the rear, table and two chairs in the middle and captains chairs and the helm station, this may become your favorite spot to hang out on the boat (i know it is mine) windows surround this area allowing for an uninterrupted 360 view of the marina. With a small fridge and sink on this level, you may never have to leave :)
Heading through the boat from the helm you go down another flight of stairs to the main salon. Soothing paint colors and pendant lighting set the mood in this space. A sofa and the occasional chairs offer a great spot to catch up on some reading.
From this room you can either head forward to the bow of the boat or towards the rear (aft). Heading towards the bow you step down a few more stairs to the galley. The kitchen on this boat comes complete with an electric oven with a 3 burner cooktop. Full sized vintage restored fridge, double sink, microwave, toaster and coffee maker. Opposite the applianced side of the galley is a dinette table with seating for 4-6 this dinette converts to a full sized bed easily.
Ahead of the galley is the crew bunk room. Two twin bunks and a full bathroom are in this space. This room also contains a cool feature from the time when this boat was actually used with a crew. There is a ladder that allows access to the bow sun deck through a skylight. Now it can be a convenient short cut for bringing drinks topsides.
Going towards the rear of the boat from the main salon you will descend a few stairs to a mahogany walled companionway. On your left hand side is the guest toilet with a marble sink, this room has access to the shower joining the two rear heads. On the right is the vip stateroom with 2 side by side twin bed bunks, the upper bunk is on hinges can be folded up to the ceiling for more access to the lower bunk if it is not needed for sleeping. Further back is the master suite. With a queen sized bed, a large closet and an en suite bath. Good luck determining who gets this space :)
The refit of this boat was done over a period of 6 months with no room of this boat being left out. All of the interior wood was stripped of paint and revarnished, all electrical and plumbing systems redone, all flooring, furniture and bedding was also replaced. Some touches we added for your creature comfort to bring this aging beauty up to the 21st century include memory foam mattresses on the beds, rain fall shower heads, custom leather wallpaper, and unique floor finishes.
With free parking and free water taxi service to downtown, you will see this is the best value around for you and your crew.
We are still putting the finishing touches on this rental and will have updated photos of the boat very shortly. The pictures used in this add show the boat prior to the extensive remodeling work. You can be assured you will be amazed when you see the completed project! - ryan
I own a property management company specializing in yacht and houseboat rentals. I love the water and enjoy sailing every chance I get!
I carefully select the listings I represent, so you can be assured you are staying in a property I have stayed in and am confident you will enjoy.
I enjoy hosting vacation rental travelers as you are the most adventurous, interesting folks I have had the pleasure to rent to. I look forward to welcoming you aboard!
Ryan purchased this boat in 2013
I purchased this boat in August of 2013. It has been a labor of love to bring her back to her former glory. We have completely renovated every single space aboard this classic yacht of a bygone era. I love old boats, and this renovation has been quite the labor of love. I am very proud of how she came out, and can't wait to share her with you and your family.
This boat is a massive example of postwar elegance. It has room for your entire crew both topsides and down below. We have our offices on site and are always available if you need anything during your stay. We have free parking and a free water shuttle into downtown. WiFi is included as are all towels, linens and toiletries.
Need to rent a car? We have a company on site to handle that. Groceries, we can handle that too. Put us to the challenge to make your stay as memorable and enjoyable as possible!
I loved how comfortable, clean, cozy and convenient the place was. It was on water but it was very stable. I expected more rocking. I loved how Ryan was at my door a minute after I texted to assist with anything
I recently stayed in Boston for a couple of nights to see Fleetwood Mac, travelled with friends from Australia & New Zealand. We were looking for accommodation 'out of the ordinary' and finding this beautiful yacht was an absolute score. Ryan was extremely accommodating to us, unfortunately with flights we arrived after 10pm, but he was there to meet us, give us the guided tour and also stocked the fridge with some well needed refreshments. I would thoroughly recommend staying on any of his boats, we had an absolute blast. The only downfall was not being able to stay longer due to travel restrictions. Absolutely first class hospitality! Cheers Ryan :)
We are a group of four middle-aged women who travel together at least once a year and we are always up for an adventure. Therefore, we decided to rent from Rock On Rentals and stay on a yacht for our Boston trip.
First the good news: We were given good, easy to follow instructions regarding transportation from the airport to the Marina via water taxi. Ryan was present as promised and informed us the yacht we had reserved had burned and so we were being given an "upgrade" to the pictured yacht. He gave us a tour of the yacht on our arrival. He was also readily available to assist with problems we encountered.
Now for the bad news: We encountered repeated problems, primarily with the toilet, experiencing the same conditions as an earlier reviewer. The toilet was not capable of handling normal use from our small group and did, indeed, leak and smell. There was minimal water pressure in either shower or the sinks. The faucet in one bathroom ran continuously. Ryan actually acknowledged this on our arrival and indicated they had tried to fix it but were unable to do so.
An additional problem we encountered was electrical. The outlets (and therefore the lights) in the bathroom worked intermittently. One evening all electrical stopped working.
A more minor complaint would be that the yacht was not nearly as clean and polished as the pictures would indicate!
Again, let me stress that Ryan responded to our calls in a timely manner and we have no complaint about his service. We do, however, have a complaint about the quality of our accommodations in relation to the price charged. We do not consider this a good value.
For your information, the toilet and showers available on property were quite clean and functional if you don't mind a short walk.
The water taxi service is a lovely way to travel but a bit inconvenient as you need to be quite flexible with times.
The stay started well, owner Ryan was there when we arrived and accommodating. However the boat was not cleaned well with obvious glass rings from prior guests, old wood left on deck, and cabinets with old supplies remaining. We had 9 total on boat, by the following morning toilet on boat was full. Toilet was emptied promptly, but by evening with rain that day one of the cabins was leaking with water soaking one of the mattress. Also water leaking in along shelves. Day 2, toilet again full and leaking onto floor in bathroom and shower leaking water onto floor. Day 3, shower head fell off, hit one of us in head, toilet again full. Toilet not emptied by last day and bathroom smelling like sewage. Owner contacted upon leaving boat concerning issues. No response and no refund of any kind provided.
Boat ferry was great, prompt, and location of boat was good. We are adventurous people, but the price of this boat does not justify what we got. This boat is not worth the price payed.
Ryan (owner) was very accommodating, friendly, and helpful. Great guy! Renting this boat was a great experience that we will be doing again. It was very clean and roomy (for a yacht). Our young children had a blast and loved the adventure! With the marina in the industrial area, we saw ships, tug boats, etc.. that we'd never see otherwise.
Wifi worked great, good working t.v., stove/oven, refrigerator, etc...
A short taxi drive into Quincy Market was easy.
Parking in the marina was not a problem at all -- thankfully! : )
The Water Taxi was not very accommodating. After several calls over a couple of days, we were finally received a call back and were able to arrange a pick up. Customer service as lacking by a long shot. Almost entertaining how rude the driver was. A 10 minute boat ride took 1 hour.
Recommend taking the T or Taxi.
Can't wait to do it again!
Although the yacht sounds large, the living quarters would be cramped with more than 4 people. There are only 3 bedrooms. Kitchen table converting into a bed does NOT make it a bedroom. You must step over one toilet to reach the sink. Bunk beds are very tiny with not much clearance. Many lights and stove didn't work. Microwave wasn't ready for food. Cupboards on all levels were full of tools and 'stuff'. Photos make rooms look better than reality. Complimentary water shuttle is a big plus! Owner is friendly and helpful but not terribly efficient. The experience was unique, so I'd recommend that aspect. It was fun, but gear your expectations to reality and be ready for the adventure.
This Yacht is located in the up and coming East Boston Neighborhood of Boston. It is minutes away from the airport, and dozens of great restaurants and shops. There is a grocery store less than a half mile away, and a convenience store on the corner. As mentioned above, we offer a free water taxi service to the guests of our boats (normally $15pp each way) into Rowes Wharf in Downtown Boston. This quick 15 minute ride puts you right in the center of all there is to do in Boston. This stop drops you at the Aquarium, Fanueil Hall/Quincy Market and the North End. Our location in the actual working port of Boston affords our guests the unique perspective of the historic Boston Shipping Trade in action. Watch the drawbridge open from your roof deck as barges and tugboats pass by, supplying Boston and the Northeast with the needed commodities for commerce!
