Boston House Boat Rental Photos and Description

Fully Furnished Houseboat For A Perfect Self Catering Holiday!

Experience Boston from the unique perspective of your own floating house! Nestled in a protected marina in Boston Harbor, our houseboat is fully equipped with all the comforts and amenities of home!

The boat has baseboard heat and is completely insulated. It is toasty on the most inclement day. Imagine tucking into bed, watching the snow blanket the marina, while the water rocks you to sleep.

The docks, parking lot and entire premises are kept free and clear of snow at all times by a full time crew. You will never have to sacrifice comfort or safety to have an enjoyable time.

There is a master stateroom with a queen bed, two twin beds in a sleeping loft and a queen sized sofa bed for the living room. Additionally there is a full kitchen with a cook top, toaster, microwave and full sized refrigerator. We also have all the needed cups, plates, mugs and cutlery you will need. Off the kitchen is the bathroom, which is huge by boat standards. it has a full sized stand up shower, head and vanity/sink. These boats have 40 Gallon hot water tanks as well, so no worries about running out hot water after a few showers. We also run on shore power and water, so the water has great pressure and is unlimited (no water tank to refill)

We provide all linens and towels so there is no need to worry about laundry. We also provide plus an iron, ironing board, hairdryer, plus bathroom products such as soaps, shampoos, and lotions. We even include a Keurig coffee maker with a variety of coffee pods for your enjoyment. This houseboat is fully air-conditioned and heated for your comfort in any season. All this for less than the price of the smallest rooms at any of the nearby downtown waterfront hotels!

Located in a very secure and gated marina, our houseboat is just minutes away from downtown Bostons` most popular attractions; Fanueil Hall/Quincy Market, the North End, the New England Aquarium, the Childrenïs` Museum and the Boston Convention Center. Our convenient location makes it easy for you reach points of interest along the waterfront, via water taxi included in rental price. Go ahead and rent or bring your car, this rental has a FREE parking space for it! This is unheard of in Boston!

This houseboat is located in the up and coming East Boston Neighborhood of Boston. It is minutes away from the airport, and dozens of great restaurants and shops. There is a grocery store less than a half mile away, and a convenience store on the corner. As mentioned above, we offer a FREE water taxi service to all of the guests of our boats (normally $15pp each way) into Rowes Wharf in Downtown Boston. This quick 10 minute ride puts you right in the center of all there is to do in Boston. This stop drops you at the Aquarium, Fanueil Hall/Quincy Market and the North End.

Our location in the actual working port of Boston affords our guests the unique perspective of the historic Boston Shipping Trade in action. Watch the drawbridge open from your roof deck as barges and tugboats pass by, supplying Boston and the Northeast with the needed commodities for commerce!

This unique location is becoming a hub for working professionals. You may never want to head into Downtown during your stay. If you are able to pull yourself away, the multiple transportation options for getting into the city make it a cinch!

The boat is in a protected part of the marina, but there can be some occasional movement during the day when boats pass by. At night the waters are very calm and some guests even find that a bit of gentle swaying relaxes them and makes for a very restful sleep. The houseboat is berthed on a brand new floating 5 foot wide wooden dock, so its just one step up onto the boat's deck at any tide. The docks are lighted and very stable The dock is connected to the parking lot by a long ramp with handrails; this ramp can be a bit steep at maximum low tide (twice a day), but there are built in treads for climbing. The ramp can be difficult at the lowest tidal points for folks with difficulty walking. The good part is that the tide does go in and out, so the majority of the time it is at a 30 degree angle or less. Its a safe first nautical experience for people of all ages who have never been on a boat before.

After a long day of touring the city there is nothing better than being dropped off at your boat by the water taxi, stepping onto the deck and relaxing on your own private sun deck with a cold drink in hand, listening to the soothing sounds of the ocean as you enjoy the views, sights and sounds of Boston Harbor!

About Ryan

I own a property management company specializing in yacht and houseboat rentals. I love the water and enjoy sailing every chance I get!

I carefully select the listings I represent, so you can be assured you are staying in a property I have stayed in and am confident you will enjoy.

I enjoy hosting vacation rental travelers as you are the most adventurous, interesting folks I have had the pleasure to rent to. I look forward to welcoming you aboard!

Ryan purchased this house boat in 2012

Why Ryan chose Boston

These houseboats are a great way to enjoy being on the water without giving up conveniences of typical shore based lodging. With direct water and power this boat functions exactly like your home, but with a gentle rocking that reminds you that you are experiencing something truly unique.

What makes this house boat unique

With free parking, WiFi and water taxi service into downtown you can experience Boston as a local, yet retire to your own roof deck at the end of a long day exploring and enjoy the solitude and relaxation only a boat can provide!

Guestbook comments from the manager

I had always wanted to try out staying on a houseboat, and Ryan made it very easy. I had everything I needed to have a very pleasant experience. It would have been much harder to find if he didn't give superb directions. It was within 10 mins walking distance of the Airport subway stop and shuttle buses, which I appreciated greatly.

Rock on Rental ROCKS!

  • 5 of 5
I wanted to give my 13 year old grandson something unique to remember on his “milestone” birthday so we stayed on a rock-on-rental this past weekend and it was such a blast…so out of the ordinary.
Three of us got in on a Friday evening. Ryan met us at the gate and showed us to our “boat” which was clean, roomy, quiet, safe and the coolest thing ever! The sunset from the roof deck was spectacular. We quickly made ourselves at home (lots of storage space) and grilled our dinner (finding all the necessary items easily), ate on the “porch” with little patio lights. The beds were soft and extremely comfortable as were the linens and towels.
We wanted to ride Codzilla (a must) and wander Quincy Market so Ryan suggested we use the water taxi (included in the rental price!) to bring us to the Long Wharf area. We called, gave them about an hours notice and they were right at our dock at the given time. Pick up from Long Wharf was just as easy (and you get a nice boat ride around the harbor).
There is a large grocery store just down the street, and smaller corner stores within walking distance which is very convenient.
I highly recommend the experience to anyone at any age!!! We will definitely be back!
Thank you Ryan and Karina for making our stay so comfortable and fun.

A perfect place for vacation. We had a lot of fun and the place reflect the photos. It was just perfect and we were 6 persons. Very close to downtown Boston and to sleep on a boat is a cool experience. I recommend this place to everyone.

Loved it

  • 4 of 5
Loved the boat and location the only bad thing was the amount of people laying on the docks that did not actually stay on a boat.

Owner's Response: I wanted to clarify this comment so future renters are not deterred by the statement about people being on the docks that did not belong there. The date this occurred was the 4th of July. The dock we occupy has the best view of the fireworks and the boaters from the rest of the marina came down to the dock that evening to view the fireworks. Unfortunately it was a bit difficult to navigate down the dock with all of the extra folks milling about. This situation only occurs on this one evening a year.
Thank you for bringing the situation to my attention, I will make sure we do a better job of keeping the docks clear next year.

Fantastic stay!

  • 5 of 5
My daughter and I vacation together a couple times a year, and this was our favorite trip so far. The houseboat was fantastic! The location was so great...we loved getting to use the free water taxi, it was so easy getting into downtown Boston. I can not describe how restful it is to sleep on a houseboat. This is the best sleep I have gotten in my adult life. And waking up to the sun on the water...what a great way to start the day. Ryan was an excellent host, answered all our questions leading up to the trip, and was super easy to get ahold of. Our incoming flight was delayed over 6 hours, and even though we arrived far after the office was closed, he still met us there personally and helped get us all settled in. Such a great vacation...we can't wait to come back!

A Fun & Unique way to experience Boston

A Fun & Unique way to experience Boston
  • 5 of 5
I stayed here graduation week from BU with my mom, dad, and husband. I would say this was one of the best alternatives to a hotel. Not only did my husband and I love it, so did my parents. I would recommend anyone to stay here.
Ryan was wonderful to work out travel arrangements with and he made everything stress free. He even went out of his way to pick us because the water taxi was out of service and we wanted to know the best alternative to get there. Now that is exceptional customer service.

The houseboat itself was wonderful. The pictures are exactly what it is. The best part was waking up on the water and having coffee to watch the drawbridge. (Being from Northern California this is not a usual thing). We would then take the water taxi into Boston. (This was also included when I booked my trip and was my dad’s favorite experience of the entire Boston trip). Haha. It is great, to go in the morning and then come back in the evening with the sun setting on the city. Everything about the trip was wonderful and I would book again with Ryan and his company.

The protected part of the harbor the boat is moored in rarely gets any wake or rough water from passing storms, in fact it is the location most boaters store their boats when inclement weather threatens. This location is perfect for anyone who wants to experience being on water but has a fear of sea sickness!
