HALE PUA, PRIVATE, OCEANFRONT HOME WITH POOL, SPA AND SPECTACULAR VIEWS

Kailua Kona House Rental Photos and Description

Hale Pua, Private, 6 Bedroom, 6 Bath, Luxury, Oceanfront Home with Pool & Spa and Spectacular Views

The Hale Pua (“House of Flowers”) is maybe the only 6 bedroom/6 full bath luxury oceanfront home for vacation rental on the Kona Coast. For recent candid photos and input from guests, please visit the Hale Pua Facebook page, see link below.

Hale Pua is an oceanfront oasis with high-end comforts and details throughout. While this privately-owned home works wonderfully for large gatherings, it is just as warm & welcoming for four couples or a smaller family group. This distinctive property was featured in a May 26, 2013 Wall Street Journal Hawaii focus article.

The home boasts full baths for every bedroom, and a sprawling oceanfront great room with easy access to the kitchen and wetbar. Multiple wall-to-wall glass sliding doors on the oceanside allow steady trade winds to gently flow while enjoying the stunning water and sunset views. You can SEE or HEAR the ocean from nearly every room!

The spacious lanai with waterfall pool and spa extends the full length of the house along the oceanfront. A lush stretch of yard is the only separation between the rolling surf against the lava rock wall and the home’s lanai.

Just a 50 foot walk from the lanai along a wide rock wall is a small sandy beach with comfortable entry to abundant tide pools and out to the ocean for snorkeling, surfing or kayaking.

Your ocean view is unobstructed and stunning; no walking path between you and the sea which is the case in many local beachfront neighborhoods.

After a full day of sun & fun, kids (or adults!) can chill out watching their favorite movie or enjoying a video game in the media room featuring leather media recliners, 70” Smart Samsung flat screen 3D TV, 3D viewing glasses, surround sound & Sony PlayStation/Blu-ray player. Several 3D movies like Avatar, Life of Pi and more along with popular Play Station games have been provided for your enjoyment.

Cards and board games are available in the equally large game room adjacent to the media room.

The executive open-design dream kitchen features ocean view granite counter and dining room seating for 16. This chef-worthy kitchen is equipped with 2 refrigerators, 2 dishwashers, 1 wine cooler, Subzero & Dacor appliances along with flatware & dishes to serve over 20 people.

Hale Pua is a special home that has been recently renovated with custom paint, window treatments, wall art and designer Restoration Hardware furniture. Each bedroom bears a fitting title in a brass doorplate, such as “Surf’s Up”, “Kona Coffee”, “Pua Suite” and so on. The Hawaiian bedroom décor showcases new duvets, pillows and tropical touches that will make you smile. All bedrooms have flat screen TVs with cable.

Each bedroom suite is described in detail below, but for starters, the gorgeous 2nd floor Master Suite, with panoramic ocean views, provides optimum whale and dolphin watching opportunities from the balcony. One guest suite is “Ohana” designed, also ocean view offering upstairs sleeping and separate downstairs living with wall-to-wall sliders opening onto the lanai.

The attractively updated, neutrally tiled baths are all full-size, three with double-sink vanities. Four of the six baths have very large tiled walk-in showers; the other two have deep shower tubs, one of those featuring a Jacuzzi. Vaulted beamed ceilings abound throughout the home, with finish work done in native Koa wood.

The large laundry is centrally located in the home, accessible from two entries, featuring two new Whirlpool Duet full-size washers & two dryers.

Hale Pua is perfectly located; close enough for adults and kids to walk to Old Kona Town and the pier. Set back 130 foot from prestigious Alii Drive, behind a private remote-controlled gate, the setting is peaceful and private.

The home has highspeed wireless internet access.

Guestbook comments from the manager
Hale Pua was the perfect house to host my extended family for my 50th birthday celebration. There were 17 of us total and this house could accommodate more comfortably. Every bedroom has it's own bath and the master suite is on a level of it's own with a private balcony overlooking the surf. There are 3 fridges and adequate parking within a secured gate. This house is situated on a main thorough fare to the center of town where all the action is. Very close to Magic Sands beach as well. We walked to town several times while there. The house is tastefully decorated and the rental agency was very responsive when we had a concern. We would definitely stay here again. Hale Pua is wonderful!

This is the second home we’ve owned in the Kona area, the first being up in the Kona Coffee belt of Holualoa. Having retired in 2009, we can now focus more on one of our favorite vacation spots – the Big Island! Only two previous owners (those who built Hale Pau and one other couple) meticulously cared for this estate. We plan to live up to their legacy for many years to come, maintaining and investing in Hale Pua as generously as did they.

Boundless Hawaii purchased this house in 2013

We have three children, two grown and one in high school, three grandkids and a large extended family. We’ve struggled to find a home to rent with enough bedrooms and baths so kids weren’t in sleeping bags and stepping all over each other. When our family & friends join us on the Big Island, they all yearn for an oceanfront property with both pool and spa; the adults and younger ones alike want easy access to snorkel, kayak and boogie board in the ocean; the kids are thrilled if there’s a theater room for movies & video games; and everyone hopes to be near enough to walk to Kona town. We finally found the perfect venue with Hale Pua!

Stunning views & breezes, easy ocean access, plenty of spacious bedrooms & baths. Please come and enjoy.

HALE PUA

The other reviews here will describe this property much more eloquently than I can. We've been privileged to travel extensively throughout the Caribbean, Mexico and Hawaii and have stayed in many rental properties and resorts. Hale Pua is, by far the nicest, and was the best experience we've had in the past twenty-five years. First class in every way and the management company couldn't have been nicer or more efficient. Our only concern is that it's becoming so popular, and rightfully so, that we won't be able to book at our favorite time of the year. If you're coming to Kona, this is the place to stay.

GALS GETAWAY WEEKEND IN KAILUA-KONA

  • 5 of 5
I recently spent a week in beautiful Kona and stayed at the Hale Pua, what a wonderful time!! Situated right on the ocean, this house has spectacular views of the surf. It is also perfectly located and within walking distance to many restaurants and shops. While just a small group of gals on this trip, this house can easily accommodate a bigger group of girlfriends or a guy's golfing trip, offering 6 bedroom/bath suites. I love the decor of the Hale Pua, very tastefully decorated with each suite taking on its own theme. We most enjoyed sitting our on the Lanai or poolside with a glass of wine in hand watching the beautiful sunsets, the surf and the occassional surfers. As a first time visitor to Hawaii, Kona was the perfect island for a getaway. Kona is a fun island with a 'hip' vibe offering a variety of shops, eateries, sports and entertainment. The restaurants are outstanding! My personal favorite was Bite-Me Fish Market and Grill. As part of a big sport fishing business, the restaurant looks out over Honokohau Harbor. We had a fantastic dinner and returned for lunch before leaving. Offering a nice selection of fresh fish plates, we ordered the fish tacos (Monjon) 'to die for' and the Fish Reuben Sandwich- melted in my mouth! They feature a great gift shop where I purchased Bite-Me shirts for my husband and two sons. Other restaurants we visited includes Huggo's On the Rocks, Fish Hopper, Kona Inn, Kona Brewery Co. all excellent! While there just a week, I met some of the nicest most interesting people. Would love to go back to Kona someday and stay at the Hale Pua!

AN UNFORGETTABLE VACATION

  • 5 of 5
There is not much we can add to the stellar reviews from previous guests. This property is phenomenal! We went to celebrate my 50th birthday, surrounded by family and friends. At the peak we had 19 people, and everyone was very comfortable. The home is spacious, beautifully decorated, and extremely well equipped. The location allows for spectacular views of whales, spinner dolphins and lots of surfers and boogie boarders. We found the management company to be extremely helpful and responsive to our needs.
Everyone in our party rated Hale Pua a perfect 10! Thank you to the owners for sharing this little slice of heaven with us.

Reviewer Comments:
The location of this house is perfect. Close to downtown Kona and right on the ocean in a small cove. Perfect for any type of water activity with easy access. Our complaint is with the property management company. They are very nice and polite HOWEVER...The website is not user friendly. Could not download contracts. Office personnel didn't seem to be able to operate their scanners or fax machines. When they actually mailed the hard copies of the contracts to us it was for the wrong reservation number and date. They emailed us the wrong gate code for the property. The instructions on how to unlock the stove should DEFINITELY be in the house manual. Once we arrived and figured everything out, we did have a lovely time.

Owner's Response: We very much appreciate your constructive input. Our fax and scanner issues have been resolved, and we’ve established a process to double-check all reservation dates. The cooktop instructions are in the house welcome manual, but we’ll make sure they're highlighted and more readily accessible. We’re so glad you enjoyed Hale Pua overall, and we hope you come back to visit again soon!

My family and I had the pleasure of staying at Hale Pua in November 2013. The location of the house and the house itself made for a great vacation for my family. The modern interior, comfortable furniture, modern home theater, swimming pool and most importantly The view of the ocean and waking up to the sound of waves made this house truly special. Boundless Hawaii was a pleasure to interact with and we are looking forward to staying here again soon!

Reviewer Comments:
I had a business trip planned for my supervisors of my construction company and this place worked out great. Big and comfortable house. The media room was great! The view and sunsets were spectacular. We even did some snorkeling and there was plenty to see. You could sit on the lanai and watch the dolphins jumping. The house was a little hot. No AC and Kona can get pretty warm. A few more portable fans would be good. But overall a great place in a very convineant location.

Owner's Response: We are happy to hear you enjoyed Hale Pua! September is typically the warmest month of the year in Kona. Nov-Apr are about 5-10 degrees cooler. Thank You for your suggestion -- additional floor & table fans have been added to bedrooms and living areas.

Part of Hale Pua's charm is its traditional Hawaiian coastal open air design. The home has louvered and screened windows throughout and features large wall-to-wall sliding doors on the ocean side of the house - the prevailing trade winds from the west over the ocean and the mountain breezes from the east make this island home so comfortable that there is no need for air conditioning.
