Our names are Albert & Marsal. We moved to Hawaii in 2005 from Northern California. We are in property management and real estate. We have tried to explore the island as much as possible, and share our island experiences with our guests.
Albert & Marsal purchased this estate in 2004
After coming to the Big Island several times, and looking at many areas, we decided we loved the climate of our area and the breathtaking views. Almost always sunny and not nearly the amount of humidity as other parts of the island. Plus, the nightly breezes made it very comfortable.
We like the location of our place because it is out of the hustle and bustle of city life and close to many great beaches and attractions. It is ideal if you would like to explore the island. You can choose to go to Hilo or Kona for the day. The ocean view is awesome. You can see to Kona and sometimes Maui. The seclusion and tranquility is wonderful. The sunsets are unforgetable and the stars are epic.
Spent an amazing week here celebrating "Ohana" (family). The neighborhood is quiet and it gets blissfully dark at night. The house is absolutely lovely and had everything we needed and more. Favorite memory-watching the whales from the lanai over breakfast. As you will see from the list below, we didn't actually spend as much time at the house as we would have liked, but it certainly made a sanctuary for us to come home to at the end of the day.
Our favorite things: -PU'UHONUA O HONAUNAU NATIONAL PARK, great to learn about the history of the area. -HONAUNAU BAY has great snorkeling and KEALAKEKUA BAY at the north is beautiful and you can see Captain Cook's monument from both places. -HAPUNA BEACH, beautiful sandy beach, good for swimming. - KAWAIHAE BAY, check out the canoe club and the shave ice truck. -GREENWELL ETHOBOTANICAL GARDEN has a green market every Sunday that's great for local artisans & food. -SOUTH POINT, the lookout is incredible and brave souls jump from the cliffs. Stop at the coffee shop/orchid farm/yoga studio for the southern most coffee in the U.S. PARADISE MEADOWS orchard was really interesting. We learned about bananas, avocados, mangos, talapia, macadamia as well as coffee. THE GREEN SAND BEACH was phenomenal. You definitely need 4WD or you can pay a local to drive you down to the beach. It is well worth the trip. -HANA HOU RESTAURANT in Naalehu was fantastic. -WHITTINGTON BEACH good for a quick dip or snorkel. -PUNALU'U HARBOUR saw sea turtles! -VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK definitely check out the lava tube, also plan to see the caldera at night. -THE ROAD SOUTH OF PAHOA along the water is incredibly scenic. -SURFING, spent an afternoon surfing with Austin. Setup the lessons through Kona Boys in Captain Cook. -HILO, the shoreline north of Hilo has some amazing scenery, definitely check out the ONOMEA SCENIC DRIVE. Stop and like down to sea level at the botanical gardens. -Definitely eat at ANNIE'S BURGERS, and plan a breakfast at THE COFFEE SHACK. Our vegan daughter has had no trouble finding restaurants with vegan options and the roadside fruit stands have been a big hit. We are so grateful that Albert and Marsal have chosen to share their home. It has made our trip all the more memorable. The gardens are lovely. Everything has been so well planned and so well thought out. The biggest Mahalo!
My husband & I with our two children ages 19 & 17 spent Christmas & NewYear at the Pineapple Palace. The house is amazing. Everything is labelled, kitchen fully stocked, extra towels & linen, very clean, comfy furniture, large tv in living room with sound around. Each bedroom had its own tv with receivers, the deck & pool is fantastic. The ocean views are outstanding. Due to the rural area where the house is located and how large the island is you spend a lot of time driving, that did not hamper our ability to explore the island. It's a great home, thank you Albert & Marsal.
My family and I (6 in all), spent 2 amazing weeks at "The Pineapple Palace". This home was exactly what we were looking for. This home has everything...a beautiful view (we even saw Maui a few times), ample room for everyone, anything and everything you need in a kitchen to prepare any meal, a great deck and pool, basketball court for the kids, games, movies and more. This home is in a rural area and is peaceful and quiet just what we all wanted in our vacation. The island is big and we did a lot of driving. The home is a great location when you want to see each side of the island. Honomalino beach was a real treat we went during the week and were the only ones there and we enjoyed the spinner dolphins. We also would take morning snorkels down at the shoreline in the subdivision down below and saw lots of fish. We also like Hookena beach which was about 15 miles away from the home. We will definitely spend another holiday here in the future. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.
My husband and I came here for a week. We live in N.C. and we have one of our sons and his wife and 3 children here with us. We have loved our time here. The house is beautiful and filled with sunshine. We explored all over the island and always looked forward to coming back here to the beautiful view. The grandchildren loved the basketball goal and the pool. We have all had a great time. My favorite thing is sitting on the deck and being surrounded by the unreal peace & quiet, amazing! So glad we found your beautiful home Marsal & Albert- Thank You
This is a spacious home with so many kitchen appliances we couldn't use them all. Master bedroom was spacious with a beautiful view and lovely on-suite bath. Loved the option of dining on the beautiful deck or inside. The view was tremendous and we did see whales daily in the distance. Each day we drove to different sites around the island. Some of our favorites were the hidden beach near the house, volcano helicopter tour, volcano park, and a day jaunt to Kailua-Kona for lunch and shopping. We had 3 of the 6 family members working on on-line degrees, so the convenience of cooking family meals while they were working on line was wonderful. The loft became a favorite study space! The family all agreed we would do it again!
Our stay was great. The house had everything we needed. The view was more than we expected. Our grandson had a great time at the pool and used all the pool toys. Getting to and from the pool was a bit of a pain cause the stairs are on the front and the pool is in the backs and there was a dog that keep visiting and wanting on the deck. Other than the dog, our stay was perfect.
Coming south from Kona you will drive a 33 mile majestic drive through the coffee belt which is a great area to explore, tour, & stop to taste the 100% Kona Coffee. In Honaunau there is a National Park, Pu'uhonua O Honaunau which is a must see. Next to the Park is a great snorkel spot we call 'two step' where the turtles frequent. You can also visit Kealakekua Bay, home of Captain Cook's monument. A little more south is a gem called Hookena Beach. Head south of the home and visit South Point, or the Green Sand Beach. While down south, stop in Naalehu at the Punalu'u Bakery for a tasty treat. While at the home, take a epic hike out to Honomalino Bay for a peaceful day at the beach, with plenty of snorkeling, dolphins, and plenty of palms for shade.
