We came here for Spring Break looking for a quiet week and we found it. This cabin is at the end of a road on top of a mountain at the edge of Pine before it become forest land again. Our kids were able to play out front without the worry of traffic. During the stay we saw 2 vehicles go past the front of the cabin and one of them was an ATV. The cabin itself has a great layout and is very comfortable. The WiFi works really well for those of us that can't quite completely unplug. We streamed movies over VUDU with no hiccups. Place is still close enough that if you want to walk down to the local store, it is a 30 minute venture.

Owner was great to work with. Texted us during our stay to make sure everything was in order and that we were comfortable.

I would recommend this to anyone - except for the week of Spring Break. That one is ours...
Owner's Response: Hi Bill,

Loved getting away from the high Phoenix temperatures. Enjoyed going to Green Valley Park in Payson for the fireworks and other fourth of July activities. There was plenty of room for our large group and everything is well taken care of. Very easy booking process. The railing on the deck is very loose but the owners gave warning before our arrival.

Best Christmas Getaway!

  • 5 of 5
  • Submitted: Jan 6, 2014

We spent December 23-26th at this beautiful chalet. This was our first time being away from home on Christmas but our children (ages 8, 4, 1 yrs old) really wanted to see snow during the Christmas holiday. We had never rented a chalet before and didn't know what to expect? I fully attended to spend the first day cleaning the house (since I'm a clean freak), but to my surprise it was SPOTLESS. The owners thought of everything from corner protectors on the fireplace, a safety gate at the top of the stairs to tons of towels and blankets. The pantry and cabinets were fully stocked with every appliance you could have thought of and there even plastic kids plates, cups and utensils. My favorite room would have to be the family room with its' oversized comfy chairs and sofa. The kids loved hanging out in this room with it's beautiful windows over looking the grand trees. The owners even placed a decorated Christmas tree in the room for us to use on Christmas morning when we opened our presents. We had a few questions for the owners upon arrival on how to operate a few things. The owners were very accessible & contacted us back right away.
I do have a few suggestions:
1.The curtains in the room with the twin beds might need to be shortened a bit. With the heater being on the curtains were sitting right on the heater & felt warm. (might be a fire hazard).
2. One large frying pan would be nice to have. I could only find a small one.
3. If you have little kids under the age of 2 I would bring an additional gate for the loft area. We brought our portable walmart wood gate (thank God) otherwise our 1 yr old might have taken a tumble trying to come down the loft stairs.
4. 3-4 prong hooks in the laundry room for extra clothes/jackets. We went sledding and needed a place to hang wet snow clothes. Seemed like a waste of electricity to run the dryer when they just needed hanging up
5. Hooks behind bedroom doors for robes, towels etc.

Thanks Ken & Karen for making our Christmas vacation a memorable on for us. God bless you!

Owner's Response: Hello Janine & Shawn,

Thanks for your kind review. I will be going over your recommendations and try to improve the situations. One thing I had purchased a free standing clothes rack to place in the garage to dry clothes, but forgot to leave it out for you. Your idea of more coat racks is good. I learned that someone had taken the large fry pan, It was a very good one and I am sad it was taken. My cleaning lady apologized for not noticing that it was gone. I have several grandkids and have tried to make the house safe, but it looks as if I need to take a second look at the situations.

Best regards and we hope you will come again. Ken and Karen

A wonderful retreat

This is a truly beautiful cabin with lovely views! Had a wonderful and relaxing stay here. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The cabin is private and very quiet, and the owners were kind enough to make my dog welcome, too. Loved star-gazing from the deck at night, and going inside to warm up by the fireplace. The kitchen is very nice and had everything needed and then some. The whole process of renting the cabin was very easy and smooth. Thank you so much for letting us spend some time in your lovely chalet!
