A scholar and director of an arts and humanities center, I reside in Connecticut. The Berkshires are my sanctuary from the bustle of twenty-first century quotidian life.

Miche Slater purchased this house in 2011

The Berkshires have always been sacred to me and my family, and we are grateful not only to enjoy this unique site, but also to share its natural beauty and cultural merits with visitors.

From the moment that I see the sign Brady's retreat and turn into the drive, my quotidian concerns dissipate and I smile at the thought of evenings by the fire pit or afternoons curled up on the sun porch with an Edith Wharton novel.

WE LOVED EVERY MINUTE.

  • 5 of 5
Our group stayed five days at this wonderful house in Lee and it was simply perfect. The house is beautifully appointed - gorgeous bathrooms, delightful screened-in porch, impressive kitchen, spectacular views. It was the perfect place to catch up, curl up with a book, enjoy a fire at night. The location could not have been more convenient. Everyone loved it - we left feeling restored and recharged. We definitely plan a return trip to this special home.

PERFECT HOLIDAY

  • 5 of 5
We spent five perfect days at Brady's Retreat in the Berkshires. The home doesn't feel at all like a rental. Rather, it feels more like borrowing a friend's tasteful vacation home in which each piece of art, furniture and appliance has been carefully considered and chosen. Every room in the house is clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. There isn't a single room with a lumpy mattress or a musty odor. If you don't feel like leaving the property, there is plenty to do: play ping-pong, pool, the piano, the classical guitar, tend the fire in the beautiful fireplace, or even work since the wireless connection is excellent. Our children spent many afternoons constructing secret hideouts and seeking adventure in the 40+ acres of open backyard space. There's plenty to do in the area. We went downhill skiing at Jiminy Peak, a quaint ski resort. For cross-country, we skied at Cranwell and Canterbury Farm. Canterbury is much prettier than Cranwell, especially during a fresh snowfall. We also went snow-shoeing at Kennedy Park, which isn't far from Cranwell, and just about 15 minutes from Brady's Retreat. The owner and her staff were gracious, hospitable, and always available. We're looking forward to spending more time and making more memories at Brady's Retreat.

PERFECT WEEKEND

  • 5 of 5
Came up to MA for a wedding in Pittsfield. We had 8 adults and 2 toddlers. The house was perfect , the owner was easy to deal with , friendly. The land the house on is beautiful to walk around. Firepit outdoors, fireplace inside. Pool table and ping pong downstairs. Very relaxing and welcoming home. Would highly recommend this property. Wouldn't stay anywhere else if we come back!

LOVELY HOME

  • 5 of 5
We were 3 adult couples who rented this home for 6 days in August. The house was not ready when we came, which frankly for us wasn't much of an inconvenience (and was due to the prior tenants leaving later than they were supposed to), but to her credit, the owner called to apologize and treated us to dinner at a lovely restaurant that evening.

The house was spotless, the views beautiful and the space plentiful, as the listing indicated. The only negatives, and they are minor, were the lack of shades on the windows, which didnt allow for late sleeping and impossible cell phone reception which isnt the fault of the property owner.

I would definately recommend this home. One note, there are 2 bedrooms on the main floor, which is ideal for people who have difficulty with steps. When we arrived, there was a ramp up to the house (only 4 steps) which I assume was for the prior tenant.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review, Marcy. I would like to note that there are curtains that cover each window in three bedrooms, and there are shades in the master bedroom. However, there are decorative windows in the master for which there are no shades. As for the poor cell phone reception, guests are permitted to use the land line and there is excellent wifi service. I appreciate your feedback greatly and I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay.

GREAT WEEKEND IN LEE!

  • 5 of 5
We had a fantastic weekend getaway at Brady's Retreat. It is a beautiful house on a ton of land, not far from the Massachusetts Turnpike. The furnishings in the house are top-notch, and we really enjoyed playing table tennis, grilling on the screened-in porch, and enjoying the views from the huge deck. There's also a 3D TV, a billiards table, and lots of lawn space to play outdoor games.

Miche the owner was great to work with and very responsive, and we had a fabulous time without any problems. I'd highly recommend this house for anyone looking to get away for the weekend.
