COSY WOODPECKER COTTAGE - A BRAND NEW 2 BEDROOM RASPBERRY RED COTTAGE!

Galiano Island Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Brand New 2 Bedroom Raspberry Red Rural Cottage

If you’re looking for Salt Spring Island Accommodation we’d be delighted to have you stay with us at Cosy Woodpecker Cottage B&B. We’re located 5km north of Ganges in beautiful British Columbia, Canada.

Cosy Woodpecker Cottage is a brand new 2 bedroom raspberry red cottage with great views over the property. It’s completely self contained and fully equipped with two gorgeous bedrooms, sitting room with wrap-around sofa, wood-burning stove, a soothing bathroom with ‘zen’ soaker tub, 30ft wide covered deck and more. All for you to stretch out, relax and enjoy your stay here on beautiful, tranquil Salt Spring Island.

The cottage is nestled at the edge of a woodland of arbutus and fir. Guests are welcome to explore the property - 5 acres of mixed natural woodland with a beautiful rocky ridge that you can climb in search of peace, wildlife or the old camping platform! Two acres have been cleared and fenced which provides a delicious harvest of fruits, berries and vegetables as we love to grow as much of our own food as we can. Sunny, light and spacious, with herbs, strawberries and raspberries right outside your front door - just help yourselves!

Breakfast: More than a holiday cottage, we also provide local, homemade and organic (where possible) breakfast materials which you prepare yourself in our fully equipped kitchen. Example breakfasts include eggs from Ragged Azz Ranch, bread from Penny’s Pantry, fresh home-picked berries (eg. strawberries, tayberries, blackberries), organic pancake mix and more. AND coffee from awesome local boutique coffee roasting company Mount Maxwell Roasting!

Nature: The property is also a haven for the birds and bees. There are 5 different types of woodpecker, 2 types of hummingbirds and a host of other birds and animals including owls, the gorgeous mini Pacific Tree Frog and more. On sunny days it’s always fun to see how many different types of bee you can find on almost any flowering plant. Click here to learn more about nature on Salt Spring Island.

Come to explore everything that Salt Spring Island has to offer. Whether it’s a fun weekend getaway, a break with the kids, a chance to unwind or a longer stay we are happy to recommend things to do, places to eat and sights to see. Some of our visitors are looking to move here, we’ve had people come on honeymoon, writing retreats, to attend a course – and we’re popular as a first getaway with your baby too!

And winter is a great time to relax: Not only will you get great pricing and special offers, but Salt Spring has many great winter events like our huge November Book Sale , fabulous Christmas Craft Fairs, Seedy Saturday in February and more. Or just come and curl up and read a good book snuggled and toasty warm in front of the wood-stove.

Whatever your plans, we would love you to choose Cosy Woodpecker Cottage as your Salt Spring Island Accommodation!

Well, we’re originally from England. Duncan is a ‘Northerner’ from Manchester and Emma is from The New Forest in the South of England.

We both went to university, graduated, went to work for big companies, moved around a bit and then met at work in 1997. We got married in 2002, moved from suburbia to a commuter town and traveled (1.5 hours each way) to work in the City of London, England every day for 5 years.

After years of dealing with the long commute, unreliable transport system, busy city and giving our lives to our jobs we decided to move to Vancouver, Canada – for a better quality of life. Well, it was the same trap. I started a business (Simplicity Life Coaching Ltd.) and Duncan went back to work. The commute may have been less, and for me at least – the work more meaningful – but somehow this STILL wasn’t it. We still never seemed to have enough TIME. We wanted more space, more peace and quiet, more nature, more community, more fun and more time to do what we love.

And so we visited Salt Spring Island for a long weekend in February in 2006. There was rain, snow and a windstorm that knocked the power out (which meant we had no water – the B&B had an electric-powered well), and that was it – we fell in love with Salt Spring. It was that weekend that we began our move to Salt Spring – even if only in our heads.

Several visits to Salt Spring later, we bought 5 acres with a vacation cottage on it (now our home) in April 2007 and moved to Salt Spring full-time in May 2008.

Since moving to Salt Spring we have been busy renovating our home, we have built and finished the Cosy Woodpecker Cottage, pulled out lots of invasive brambles, thistles and broom, grown lots of food and got involved in the community, as well as running our own businesses.

So, now after several years on Salt Spring Island we’re finally very happy to be launching Cosy Woodpecker Cottage B&B!

RELAXING TIME

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I just spent a week enjoying the cottage and especially all the sounds of birds and rustling leaves in the breeze. Very relaxing place, on a quiet road. Attractive interior design as well as peaceful outside deck overlooking a treed ravine, veggie patch, etc. Recommend if you enjoy nature, a friendly dog (the Dexter) and helpful hosts.

FABULOUS COSY COTTAGE

  • 5 of 5
Our family had a wonderful Salt Spring experience at the Cosy Woodpecker Cottage. Yes, there
are indeed Woodpeckers and other beautiful birds that are attracted to the country cottage vibe
that Emma and Duncan (your hosts) have created. The cottage is beautiful, cosy, clean and well
equipped. The beds are SO comfy, it was hard to get up in the morning ...Waiting in the kitchen
is a lovely breakfast basket of home-made bread, jams, granola, yoghurt and organic coffee. We
loved the yellow plum jam from trees on the property! The cottage is the perfect distance from
town by car...close enough in but far enough away so that you can sit and listen to the sounds of nature from the covered outdoor deck with dining table. Emma and Duncan are very helpful
and friendly and go out of their way to make sure you have a terrific Salt Spring experience.
