We purchased this condo and recently had it designed by two top SF designers. We wanted to create a place with all the comforts of home in the middle of the creative, vibrant, energetic city of San Francisco. We are both California natives and work in the Silicon Valley. We live in our condo when we can and have guests use it when we are not there.
John or Beth purchased this apartment in 2005
We are California natives and have lived in San Francisco for 20+ years. We could have bought a condo anywhere in San Francisco and we selected the Marina. Why? Super clean, quiet streets, lovely architecture, exciting nightlife ten minutes away but not downstairs when you're trying to sleep! Steps away from vibrant Chestnut Street which has incredible, world-class restaurants and night-life, exciting wine bars and pubs and nightclubs. Many of the restaurants are Zagat/Michelin rated from The Dragon Well, Blackwood Tai Fusion, Pacific Fresh, Luccas Deli...way too many to mention. There's also Starbucks, Peets, Wallgreens, Safeway, Apple Store, Pottery Barn all within a ten minute walk from the apartment.
This condo is an oasis within the city. We designed it like a 'jewel box' with all the amenities of a comfortable, country home. It has a large, gourmet kitchen and a back door which leads to the rear stairs with a screen door. It has all ebony hardwood floors throughout with comfortable area rugs. It has loads of natural light from the large bay windows in the living room, to the sunny bedroom to the two large windows in the kitchen. It has all the amenities of a suburban home in the middle of the incredible city of San Francisco! The location is second to none in all of SF; it is located on a very quiet street and centrally located.
My wife and I stayed at this property the first two weeks of April. I was a great choice! The location is in a level quiet residential part of San Francisco which was particularly attractive to us as we are in our late sixties and enjoy walking. There is a Safeway close and lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. I enjoyed running from the apartment across the Golden Gate Bridge in one direction and to the Embarcadero and Fishermans Wharf in the other.
As to the specifics of the apartment. First it is a good size for two people and second but certainly more the apartment itself is terrific. The kitchen is modern with first rate appliances and is laid out in a good way to prepare meals when you don't want to eat out. The bed is comfortable and the closet is adequate for several weeks of cloths. Because of the way the living room faces the adjacent street the living room feels light and expansive. Similarly the license dining area have good natural light.
The bathroom is clean and well appointed.
I plan on staying there on my next visit to San Francisco.
We have stayed in numerous VRBO/AirBnB in SF and this apartment was the best and our favorite. We had a delightful time. The neighborhood was quiet, friendly and convenient to shopping, coffee, & restaurants. There are views of the Bay and Alcatraz from the living room window and views of the Golden Gate from the street. The ocean front and a large park is only one block away. We rode bikes and were able to quickly access quiet paths down to the Golden Gate Bridge and, in the opposite direction, to Fisherman's Wharf. With owner assistance, we obtained a parking pass that allowed us to park on the street, which was not a problem in any way. Whenever we had questions the owners were always available. We are definitely returning to this apartment.
This apartment was beautiful. The decor and furnishings were very high end. I was pleasantly surprised. I have stayed at the Ritz for 50% more a night, and I found this to be more luxuries and roomy. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, theaters, bars and coffee shops on Chestnut Street about 4 blocks away. A+ I will come back soon. Thanks John. Tom
Upon walking inside this unit I was genuinely surprised by how luxurious this place is. It is very high-end, hardwood floors, silk wallpaper, crystal chandelier above the master bed, silk draperies, wool carpets etc. The owner said she worked with an interior designer and I believe it! The front room was very comfortable and cozy after a long day of sight-seeing with my husband. The master bedroom was so lovely and felt like sleeping in a cocoon, very cozy and warm. It had a huge walk in closet which was great and French doors leading to the living room. I wish my kitchen at home looked like the kitchen here, all granite counters and black granite on the walls and appliances that were all top-shelf sub-zero refrigerator, cook top, oven, microwave, blender, coffee maker etc. The kitchen also had a very large dining area which comfortably sat four people. The building itself was very secure and nice. It was great to return here after a long day enjoying the city.
As for the location, it was great to be right near the SF Marina, we walked the promenade along the Golden Gate bridge which was truly stunning. Great shopping was about a five-minute walk away and we are still raving about the restaurants we went to up on Chestnut Street.
This place rivals the Ritz-Carlton, where I've stayed many times but for me, it's actually better in that I had a whole condo to enjoy and 'live in' while on vacation. Much unlike a hotel that you sort of get antsy inside of if you spend too many nights there.I would strongly recommend this place to any visitor and we will be back! Truly lovely.
I stayed here with my husband for two weeks to visit family and enjoy the San Francisco area. This property greatly exceeded my expectations! The location is literally just feet away from the San Francisco Marina and we enjoyed walking to the beach and Crissy Field in the morning. It was great to watch sailboats float by in the Bay from the front window in the living room. Safeway was about a five minute walk from the condo so we were able to buy all of our necessary items very easily. We also enjoyed Chestnut Street and ate at some wonderful resturants...Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Fresh Fish, Indian, Thai I'm not kidding all these restaurants were on Chestnut Street and all were delicious! We got a little spoiled since we could just walk to such great restaurants.
The proper itself was lovely. Big front living room and bedroom with a very comfy bed. The kitchen was well appointed and had everything we needed. The place overall was very clean which I always appreciate.
Since I knew we'd be staying for a couple of weeks I knew I wanted a condo versus a hotel. I've traveled a lot for work and hotel rooms make me a little claustrophobic after about 2 days. This place felt very much like home and we actually didn't want to leave!
The owner, John, was very helpful and always responded quickly if we had any questions.
I will definitely stay here again the next time I visit San Francisco!
This condo is ideally located in the Marina district in San Francisco. It is close to many incredible attractions and activities including: 5 minute walk to Crissy Field Beach where you can enjoy bike rides off the street with views of Golden Gate Bridge, walk to Fort Point, Pier 39 is about 15 minutes' walk away, Chestnut Street and Union Street are a ten minute walk away with world-class restaurants, bars, Lucca's Deli, Apple store, Pottery Barn, Starbucks, Peets much more! This is truly one of the best locations in all of San Francisco. The home is in a very quiet 5-unit building and has excellent natural light and views of the bay from the front windows.
