Experience small town living in our gracious early 20th century house located in beautiful Historic Downtown Elkin. This three bedroom house has been lovingly restored and retains its elegant character with modern amenities. Its downtown location in Elkin puts The Snow House within easy walking distance of restaurants, shopping, parks, the Yadkin River and more. The charming town of Elkin is in the center of Yadkin Valley Wine Country with 10 wineries within 20 minutes. Also nearby are several golf courses, Stone Mountain State Park, the Blue Ridge Parkway, antiquing and more. Recreational opportunities include biking, rafting, climbing, hiking and more.
We moved to Elkin 15 years ago from the wine country of Oregon and immediately felt at home in the beautiful foothills of the Yadkin Valley.

As former big city residents we appreciate the relaxed and friendly pace of Elkin. The town is steeped in history and the opportunity to own this beautiful historic property is a dream come true. We believe in Elkin and its small town charms and want to share them with visitors to our lovely part of North Carolina.
The Snow House is a relaxing retreat after a busy day exploring Elkin and the surrounding area. Fine and casual dining are footsteps away. If you have more energy the town park is around the corner with running and walking trails, tennis courts, fishing, and swimming. Enjoy the small town life and sit on your porch, listen to the birds and wave to the friendly neighbors walking by.
We stayed at this Yadkin Valley house while attending the Merlefest traditional-plus music festival about 35 minutes away in Wilkesboro. I would certainly recommend this house to others who might be looking for a place to stay in the Yadkin Valley area.
The house is roomy and well-maintained with lovely porches, three dining areas, and a kitchen with good appliances and plenty of dishes, pots, and utensils. The beds were comfortable, and the furnished towels were nice. One bathroom is upstairs where the bedrooms are, and the other full bath is downstairs where the living and dining areas are. There were places to hang clothes in the bedrooms.
The house is right on Elkin's Main Street, and a couple of eateries and shops are within easy walking distance. Because we were there for the festival, we didn't get to spend much time in Elkin, but from what I saw, I'd like to go back.
The owners offered great information about the house so we knew what to expect and what was expected from us. For instance, we got clear instructions about the parking, and that was good to know ahead of time. We did forget to ask about the Wi-Fi and couldn't connect, but we had our own hotspot.
Our few quibbles: The bedrooms could use bedside tables, chairs, and mirrors, and a stepstool would have helped a guest climb into the rather tall bed in one bedroom and reach the microwave in the kitchen. If you stay here and you're short, carry along a portable stool!
Experience small town living at our century old house located on the Main Street of Historic Downtown Elkin. We are walking distance to downtown restaurants, pubs and stores as well as the Yadkin River. Biking, fishing, walking, and tennis opportunities are all accessible without getting in your car. More than 10 wineries of the Yadkin Valley are within a 20 minute drive. Also nearby is some of the best fly fishing, golf, and antiquing in North Carolina.
