This lovely 3 bedrm villa is nestled into the hillside overlooking Lake Maggiore. Parking available for 2 cars next to the villa. Upper floor: 1 double bedroom, kitchen, shower room/toilet, living room with real fireplace and balcony. Downstairs: two double bedrooms, one with en-suite bathroom. All bedrooms have direct access to a balcony overlooking the lake. Central heating in all rooms and free Wifi. There are two patio areas for al fresco dining, a private flowering terraced garden on 3 levels and a mountain stream on one side. The lake is about 300m away with a small beach at the end of the road. The pretty villages of Cannobio and Cannero Riviera are both just 3 minutes by car. There are walking & cycling paths directly from the house and also in the magnificent mountain forests surrounding the lake. Note that the house is accessed via a steep road and there are 38 steps leading from the parking area up to the house so this villa is not suitable for those with walking disabilities.
Location: This independent villa is located on Lake Maggiore, the second largest of the Italian Lakes. It has a mild climate from May to October, despite being close to the Swiss border and the Swiss and Italian Alps. Snow can occur from late November to late February and snow tyres/snow chains are recommended for these periods. The villa is accessed 300m up a very steep single track private road and visitors should be aware of this. There are also steep steps up to the front door of the villa. The pay-off is the spectacular views over the lake, the sound of the mountain stream outside the kitchen window and the terraced hillside garden planted with fragrant and flowering trees and shrubs . The house is not overlooked and offers peace and serenity to all who visit. There are many good restaurants and cafes in the villages along the lake, as well as historic buildings, churches and museums nearby. Walking or cycling in the mountain forest is unparalleled with waterfalls and snow covered peaks
Notes: The villa has recently been furnished to retain its traditional style but with modern flair. The whole house has new wiring throughout and a new boiler, so plenty of hot water and central heating! And now with a new spa themed on suite bathroom and free wifi!
We have a lovely flowering terraced garden planted with hazelnut, azalea & wild strawberries, accessed through two wooden gates. The garden is on a very steep hillside and has paved and unpaved access paths with great views of the lake. The gates are locked for safety. but guests can ask for the gates to be unlocked but do so at their own risk. The paths can be slippery and overgrown and although we endeavour to keep the access paths maintained, we are only at the villa a few times a year and the paths do deteriorate. There is also a steep, fast running stream at the side of the garden which is not fenced off beyond the access gates. Guests must bear these items in mind before requesting use of the garden and do so at their own risk, especially if allowing access for children. Children MUST be supervised at all timse
