FANTASTIC

  • 4 of 5
When my company sends multiple people to a conference, we usually rent a house rather than stay in a hotel. The house was exactly as advertised - awesome, walkable neighborhood. We walked down to the Bishop Arts district every day, sometimes multiple times per day and loved the restaurants, boutiques, and galleries. The house was large with four private bedrooms, three decks, beautiful floors and finishes. A fifth bedroom would have been suitable for kids. There were ceiling fans in nearly every room, the upstairs kitchen was nicely appointed, and the washer/dryer was super nice. We loved the common space on the upper floor (living room, dining room, kitchen) and found ourselves mostly congregated in that upstairs living room area. That said, people who wanted to work or be by themselves could hang out in the downstairs common rooms. The link to downtown Dallas was quick and easy either by car or public transit.

GRADUATION FAMILY GET-TOGETHER

  • 3 of 5
I thought the house was great. It is an older craftsman style, but comfortable - the beds were comfortable. We loved sitting out on the upstairs porch. We did not like the neighborhood. Although it is two blocks from the Bishop Arts District (which is cool), it is in the wrong 2 block area - felt a little unsafe actually. Also, the exterior needs maintenance - the landscaping and the driveway specifically. It also needs painting.

Owner's Response: We're glad we could host your group for the graduation. I apologize that the luxury hotels you were seeking were booked for SMU Graduation. The Four Seasons isn't very close at all, and the Ritz Carlton booked months in advance. Again, still glad we were able to schedule you on one of the busiest weekends in Dallas. Please understand the construction in the neighborhood has been improving the neighborhoods/homes in the area. The best thing about the Bishop house is the close accessibility to public transportation. The new trolley connecting to Downtown is just around the corner! The Bishop Arts Neighborhood is the trendiest, hottest, neighborhood in all of Dallas right now. Full of art galleries, and offers a great experience. Restaurants are opening often, reservations are difficult, street traffic and walkability are welcomed here. The home was completely re-painted and renovated not long ago. The landscaping is scheduled to be "freshened" and the private, gated, driveway has worked great for up to 6 cars for many other groups. The home is perfect for large groups, we are glad you enjoyed the balcony and multiple living areas. We've only had one other group concerned about the neighborhood. They were high school coaches in search of sports bars. Our home located in Uptown would of probably been better suited for you. If you would like to try this home in the future, we'd be happy to have you!! Congrats again to the graduate!

FANTASTIC-- SPACIOUS BUT COZY AND ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!

  • 5 of 5
I chose this home for my sister's bachelorette weekend and could NOT have been happier with my selection! The home is absolutely gorgeous -- sweet, 1930s style house that is beautifully decorated and completely modern in all amenities. We had 13 girls staying in the house and it was very comfortable space-wise. The house was walkable distance to cute shops, restaurants and bars in the Bishop Arts District and we felt very secure in our neighborhood. The owners are truly a pleasure to work with and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed -- they are rightfully proud of their beautiful home and eager for those staying there to enjoy the experience. I will definitely be recommending this house to friends and family looking for a home stay while visiting Dallas.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at the Bishop house! We too love the house, and the walkability to all the neighborhood restaurants, galleries, and shops. I could eat at Pie Emporium EVERYDAY!!! We love the large balcony in the front.. The chairs are great, and the wired sound system is perfect for groups! The upstairs and downstairs configuration is perfect for many separate spaces for everyone to be comfortable! If you ever come back to Dallas for a reunion party, we'd love to host you!! We'll have champagne waiting for you!!! Thank you for the great review, and best of luck to the bride!!!

We're so glad you and the other ladies enjoyed the house so much!! I know all the careful planning that took place to host such a fun songwriting and poetry sessions for the ladies from all around the world. I loved that you loved the home from the first time you previewed prior to booking!! The restaurants, galleries, and shops are so much fun, and being walkable to the house makes it even better!! I love to walk along the sidewalks at night and admire the new streetlamps that were installed. They're so bright and beautiful... All the way down Bishop... The flowers were beautiful, and the sweet cards from all the ladies was so nice! We hope to see you all next year!!!

GREAT HOUSE, DIFFERENT AREA

  • 3 of 5
Our coaching staff had a convention at the Dallas Marriott Anatole Jan 2 - Jan 5. After encountering hotel issues, we found this house to be an option for all of us to stay. Owners were great to work with. The house had a great set up and awesome interior design. The distance to downtown and to our meetings was perfect.

Although there are homes in the area of similarity, most others are run down; especially next door. The Bishop Arts district is ideal for women. We, of course, wanted to watch sports and found the SMU area to be the best. Eno's Pizza was not very good in our opinion - very thin pizza. Just FYI.

If you are looking for a place to hang out with friends, with close proximity to Downtown, the house is great. We would consider staying again if we returned to Dallas. We can see the area to continue to improve.

Owner's Response: We're so glad that we could accommodate your large group of several coaches. I'm glad you liked the close proximity to Downtown. This Bishop Arts neighborhood is actually the most popular place to live in all of Intown Dallas at the moment. The historical homes are the main attraction. The home next door is in the process of being beautifully restored. The Bishop Arts Oasis is surrounded by a beautiful 10 million dollar mixed use development, and will be the crown jewel of Bishop Ave. As for restaurants, folks from all over Dallas, including the suburbs, make their way to the Bishop Arts to dine and shop. I understand your concern about thin crust pizza. Zoli's Pizzeria offers heavier deep dish options and is located just down the street. There are many types of restaurants available to you... I'm surprised that you found the SMU college park area more appealing... But that's the great thing about Dallas, there is something for everyone, and its easy to navigate. We appreciate the review... Maybe our Uptown Urban Oasis would of been better suited for you, being just steps away from the most popular sports bar in town, The Nodding Donkey. Unfortunately it was rented when you inquired for your last minute booking. Thank you for staying at the Bishop Arts Oasis!

GREAT TIME ON BISHOP!

  • 5 of 5
Several of my college friends were in town to raise awareness for our non-profit, Turning Dreams Into Realities, and celebrate a few birthdays. This home and neighborhood/area was perfect and fit our every need. Spacious (inside and out), accommodating, and ease of getting to restaurants, shopping and downtown Dallas were just some of the highlights. The owners are great and were very helpful too, as we needed to store some of our things at their offices prior to check-in, which helped us tremendously. Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Bishop Oasis; would do it again in a heartbeat; and would highly recommend to anyone!

The Bishop Arts District is a stones throw away. Dallas Convention Center and Downtown Dallas are a short 7 min drive or 15 min bike ride away through the neighborhood and over a safe bridge (avoiding the interstate exchange entirely). Bishop Arts is also less than 10 minutes away from Uptown and from some of the best shopping and museums in Dallas.
