Appalachian Lady Bug is a 15-year-old home built by local craftsmen. The cabin is adorned with reclaimed barn wood, handcrafted metal work, masonry and woodwork. The result is a true taste of Appalachia, yet it hosts all the conveniences of a modern home. The amount of artistic detail and variety of wood and stone used in the construction of the cabin give it a purely “one of a kind” feel. The cabin is newly renovated and decorated in folk art from the area. This property is uniquely nestled in the National Forest which can be observed from the covered porch and an outdoor kitchen area which opens into a large patio and fire pit.
Hi folks! Thank you for your interest in my cabin. A bit about me... I am a native Georgia girl, a mom, a wife and a librarian (no bun and glasses for me, though!) My husband and I live 30 minutes from the cabin with our 2 children, 3 dogs, and a gecko.
Sarah Reynolds purchased this cabin in 1999
This house is near and dear to me, and I lived here for 12 years. After re-marrying, my husband and I wanted to keep the place and thought it would be great to fix it up and share it with others. It is one of those places that just makes you feel good. While the inside is lovely, I have probably spent more hours on the porch just 'being' than anywhere else. It is cool in the summer, lush in the spring, glorious in fall, and as cozy as can be in the winter.
The seclusion and coziness of the Ladybug was perfect for our weekend getaway and mini-moon. The rainy Fall weekend was peaceful and relaxing after our wedding weekend.
Finally, a real cabin in the woods, not a 5 year old 3 br, 2 ba house in a mountain subdivision. I felt like i was at my family's cabin. Charming and functional with tons of character. Very clean, kitchen had everything and lots of enjoyable outside space. Even though it rained most of the weekend we could sit on the porch and enjoy the peace and quiet. We will definitely make this our go-to place in the GA mountains.
I used the cabin with 5 other ladies for my sister's Bachelorette weekend. The cabin was adorable and had ample room for all of us. I loved the decor and found it even more charming in person than it was in the pictures. The cabin was close enough to the wineries we wanted to visit, but far enough away to feel the seclusion of a mountain cabin. We enjoyed hanging out in the kitchen while we cooked dinner and breakfast and in the living room while we watched football, chatted and played games. Thank you for opening up your beautiful cabin for us.
I was nicely surprised when I arrived that the space felt roomier than in the pictures. There is a nice motion sensor light on the driveway if you have to arrive at night and everything was expected. I was up for a wedding at the nearby Water's Mill venue and this could not have been more convenient.
We rented this cabin for its close location to the wedding venue and that it was also pet friendly. It worked out perfectly for the Bride and her Bride Maids to get relaxed prior to the Big Event and then on the Big Day, enough room to have the hair dresser perform her magic on all of them. It is also close enough to Dahlonega for any shopping needs that might come up. The owners are very responsive if you are in need as in our case when the power in the area was knocked out and did not know who to report the outage to but were assured by the owners that their power provider is already working on the issue and made sure we were all OK and did not need any assistance. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who is just wanting to be in the North Georgia Mountains for R & R getaway.
We loved staying at this cabin. It was so cute and cozy. Lots of area outside to sit and socialize. Beds were comfy and showers were amazing. Located near a beautiful waterfall and rivers for kayaking. Great trip!
Great little quirky house. Isolated, but also accessible to Dahlonega and Amicalola State Park. Just what we needed! Booking was easy and everything was just where they said it would be. Follow directions, lock the door and leave. Couldn't have been easier. Comfortable beds. Good bathrooms. Wifi worked well except during a thunderstorm. We were glad for the landline phone, since we had no cell service, and needed to talk to family.
The location of the cabin offers seclusion, yet is easily accessible to active vacationers. It is located only 4 miles from Amicolola State Park, 12 miles from Dahlonega, and 15 miles from Dawsonville. The immediate area offers a myriad of outdoor activities including hiking, hunting, horseback riding, and fishing, but is also a great place to just sit and read a book.
