About Deryn Mize
We relocated from Ventura CA, a beautiful, busy city by the ocean. We were looking for somewhere we could walk and just relax. I am from England and missed the changing seasons and slower pace of life so we packed the car, our 3 Labradors and headed north to find a different kind of life. We found Coeur D'Alene and it was so peaceful and clean, the dogs could run for miles and CDA was very pet friendly....we were home.
Deryn Mize purchased this cottage in 2013
Why Deryn Mize chose Cougar Bay
For us Coeur d'Alene is the perfect location. We both enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle, space, beautiful scenery and four seasons. My husband also likes hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities whereas I like art galleries, theater, spas and good restaurants so when we were relocating from California we made a list of what we each wanted and Coeur d'Alene was the first place to hit all the buttons with the added bonus of an international airport 45 minutes away, trader Joes 30 minutes away and cheaper gas.....paradise was found!
What makes this cottage unique
We both love older homes with character and quirks so when we found this home and realized that it still had a lot of its original features we saw a home that needed some sympathetic owner to buff it up. But let's be realistic no-one wants a 1910 kitchen or bathroom so they were completely renovated in 2013. As soon as we walked through the front door we knew, the windows were all original, the built-ins were still in all the alcoves and when we peeked under the bedroom carpet and saw the Douglas fir floors we were sold, an added bonus was finding the hardwood floors downstairs. I liked that the gables made the bedroom ceiling slope and gave them odd nooks and made me wonder what that space had been used for in the past. There is a nook in a bedroom that looks like a telephone booth....was it?
It is a happy home that is very relaxing, the perfect place to sit and do nothing.
