Our family has loved Northern Michigan for many years. It is where my Irish parents taught us to be part of the outdoors. We learned to water ski here as well as, snow ski. Family and friends in an upnorth setting means laughter, good food, fresh air and lotsa stars.

Maureen Gallagher purchased this cottage in 2013

The private lake setting, the white birches and the short distance drive to the big Lake Michigan. The quaint 1920's cottage reminds us of where we came from and to enjoy the simple things in life like sunrises, listening to the sound of rain on the back porch, hearing laughter of the lake while sitting around a fire. There are so many things to do in the area or just sit back in the adirondack chair and enjoy the veiw.

Private beach setting, availability of Glen's Market, beautiful restaurants, or simple dining, a beachy town, cute cinema, water parks, golf, tennis. Brownwood Acres at Torch Lake let's you step back in history, from penny candies to flea market to the history of the area.

First stay

  • 5 of 5
Our stay was perfect! The accommodations offered everything we were looking for, a beautifully maintained home, amazing view and so many water activities. The kitchen has everything needed for a stay away from home. Intermediate lake is gorgeous and not crowded leaving plenty of space for boating.
We will definitely be rebooking at this location.

Christmas Break

  • 5 of 5
My family along with 2 other families stayed at this cabin over the winter break. Very nice accommodations. Wonderful atmosphere and all amenities were included. Recommend this place to anyone coming to stay to get away for a long weekend with a large family or a couple of small families. Close to Bellaire, Shanty Creek, etc. Thank you to Maureen for working with us on this vacation!

Family Fusion

This place was very well maintained and accommodated our large family gathering nicely. We loved the large screened in porch, and with young kids, it was nice to be a bit removed from the lake.

Wonderful find!

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed a lovely week at Ballinagh! We found this charming century old cottage to be beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, and much more spacious than we had expected from the photos. There were ten of us in our party, but we found the house to be comfortable and spacious with lots of places to hang out. We enjoyed sitting down by the beach, eating together in the screened-in porch or hanging out and playing games in the comfy living room. We used the house as a base to explore the area, visiting Charlevoix and Sleeping Bear Dunes. It was delightful. Maureen did everything she could to make our stay all we hoped it would be. I would highly recommend Ballinagh cottage.

Blissful

  • 5 of 5
Not knowing what to expect, we arrived at a special place. Comfortable yet elegant, with essentially everything we needed. The master fireplace was special. Days filled with plentiful fishing, water sports and peaceful mornings with coffee on the porch. And oh the views....from sunrise to sunset. Perfect evening dinners on the porch at the beautiful and spacious wooden table, accommodating our entire clan. In town we enjoyed a delicious meal at an upscale spot with a delightful stroll around town.
My prescription was for R and R and you filled it.
We will return next August.

Great for families...

  • 5 of 5
My family really enjoyed our stay at this cottage. It is very close to two really nice little towns in Central Lake and Bellaire. We enjoyed the short drive to numerous other activities as well (water park, Traverse City, Mackinaw Island, Lake Michigan, just to name a few). The shallow water surrounding the dock was great for our young ones to swim. I caught some fish off the dock and lost a great big Smallie in the ladder to the dock. (I should have jumped in after him.) I also caught a few fish in my boat fishing both the southern and northern creeks leading into and out of the lake. Over the lake traffic was only hectic on Friday and Saturday of our stay. The house was very clean and Maureen was very helpful. We spent the majority of our time on the screened in porch just enjoying the weather and watching the wildlife. Turkeys came through the backyard every night and doe and fawn came through one morning.
