This is an incredibly spacious home set on a hill overlooking Hauser Lake. It has some of the most incredible views of the mountains, lake, and Helena valley. You can't help but love the views from the living room, master, deck, and back porch. It is a very tranquil spot that is located about 15-20 minutes from Helena but just 5 minutes from the lake. A vehicle is definitely required for your stay.
The house is clean and airy, but is a little dated. It seemed as though the focus was on quantity of beds and maximizing the amount of guests instead of quality of furnishings. This isn't a big issue because the view makes up for it, however, the waterbed in the master bedroom was a huge disappointment. My parents were very uncomfortable sleeping in this bed. There are really only 2 main bedrooms for adults. The office/bedroom has a day bed with a trundle (remember those!), and the downstairs room is filled with inexpensive bunks and futons that are clearly meant for children. This house would be fantastic for families with a lot of kids, but the bedrooms are not ideal for multiple adults/couples (we had 6).
The kitchen, however, was fully stocked with high end cookware and pretty much everything you would need. We really liked that it was an open layout with the living room, which was perfect for entertaining. We held my brother's wedding rehearsal dinner there with 20 people and it was a perfect place for large groups to gather.
All in all, we had a lovely stay here. The biggest reason for me giving this house 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the master bedroom waterbed, and the lack of real beds in the bedrooms. Otherwise, the property manager was very helpful in answering my questions and was receptive to fixing a few minor maintenance issues. We were even given a military discount for our stay, which I appreciated very much. I would definitely recommend this to families looking for a nice getaway - especially those with children.
