La Casa Que Besa El Mar is located in the old city of Cartagena de Indias. It sits unobstructed, with views of the historic Spanish Colonial wall set just in front of the ever expansive ocean. Facing west, the sunset is visible each and every day, with optimal viewing from La Casa’s spectacular mirador (roof terrace).
La Casa Que Besa el Mar is the product of two colonial homes, combined and renovated to create a modern, spacious living environment like no other. Its Mediterranean style architecture allows cool breezes to sweep through open-air spaces throughout the day, providing moments of respite from the healing heat.
The attention to detail can be felt from the moment you arrive, with beautiful artifacts and exquisite furniture—accrued from years of travel—lining every room. Unique spaces designed for eating, talking, reading, tanning, and resting live on all four floors, facilitating the needs of each unique guest.
Every bedroom has its own unique touch, from handmade quilts and paintings from local artists, to brass waterfall showerheads and mosaic walls. They feature their own remote controlled A/C system for custom climate control, although we encourage guests to sleep with their doors open and let the nightly breeze filter in.
The home features five bedrooms, each with their own full bath. A swimming pool on the ground floor, and two lounging pools, including one on the roof terrace for prime sunset viewing. A full-time staff of four awaits to greet you upon arrival and make your stay as comfortable as possible, providing concierge services, from restaurant reservations and in-house massages to boat rentals and day trips upon request.
La Casa is primely located just walking distance from all the old city of Cartagena has to offer and just a 30-minute boat ride from the beautiful white sand beaches and warm turquoise waters of Las Islas del Rosarios. A curated list of must-see destinations and exquisite dining venues will be made available to you and any specific requests are encouraged prior to your arrival.
We hope you can experience La Casa Que Besa El Mar and the beauty of Cartagena.
Andrea is a fantastic host with a wonderful full time staff, and her house is amazing. The pictures do not do it justice. We arrived as a group of 10 friends from NYC who frequently travel around the world together, and everyone was equally blown away by the attention to detail and overall ambiance of the home. I couldn't recommend renting this house more, I really hope we can go back.
I'm a Colombian-born interior designer who, after spending 30 years living and working in New York, decided to return to the place I love most, Cartagena de Indias.
This house is my vision of paradise, a sanctuary for those looking to bask in the magical realism that is La Casa Que Besa el Mar.
I love the view of the colonial wall and enjoy the daily sunsets over the ocean.
Cartagena is a beautiful walking town, so a car is seldom needed. I love the perfect weather all year round, but the most beautiful part of Cartagena is the warmth of the people and their unrelenting hospitality. The town is a charming colonial gem with top restaurants and a fun night life. In just 45 minutes y boat you can find yourself in the most amazing white sand beaches and turquoise waters. The house is very well located, and is walking distance to all that Cartagena has to offer.
The view is extraordinary. Beautiful sunsets. A full-time staff of four, including a cook ready to satisfy your taste for Latin fare and anticipate your every wish. Walking distance form all best restaurants and night life. Just a 15 minute taxi ride from the airport.

Cartagena is a fantastic city that guards the secrets of history in its walls, balconies, buildings and narrow cobbled streets.
The charm of the walled city
The magic of Cartagena lies in its massive fortifications, the warmth of the people, the richness of the architecture and the infinite range of cultural expression of a doughty and valiant people.
The city is full of romance, and there is the setting for many a tale of times past in every street and square, and along the walls that bound it, waiting for the sunset to evoke past struggles.
On a sunny day vibrates with color along the facades of the buildings and the sea breeze refreshes the visitor on his way along the narrow streets of the old city.

The monuments are there: sober, ancient monasteries, churches, battlements and the remains of bloody battles: a testimony to the invincible men and women who brought freedom to the “heroic city”.
Night falls, and is bathed in a light of its own, coming to life and transforming itself. It is a unique atmosphere that captivates the visitor and takes him back to times past and forgotten, in a horse and carriage.
From the walls there is a beautiful view of the sea. Then, euphoria grows and the tireless fiesta dances on until the first rays of the sun sweep away the mysteries of the night.
Yes, this is Cartagena. A city that tells its own past, its fascinating history and its rebirth in every age.

Declared part of the UNESCO World Heritage in 1984, Cartagena encapsulates all the charm of Spanish colonial architecture, the republic period and today, the attractions of intense night-life, cultural festivals, exotic scenery, superb beaches, wonderful food and a wide offer of hotels and tourist infrastructure.
Walk the streets, look at the Spanish colonial buildings – the Palace of the Inquisition, the Clock-Tower and the Castle of San Felipe de Barajas; enjoy the soft, warm breezes as you pass through the squares and plazas.
Eating out is another form of entertainment in Cartagena, with countless choices of new and exotic flavors in local and international styles.
The choice of accommodation is very wide too. There are traditional hotels and exclusive boutique hotels offering unique experiences of detail and personal service.
Cartagena offers all the enchantment of its history and the legacy of those who made it great and turned it into one of Colombia’s most important tourist destinations.
