If you are looking for peace and quiet – this is the get-away for you! When the elk and deer are in town – sit on the porch and watch them come down to the hay field to feed or the river for a drink.
Have horses – no problem – room to ride on the property; ride from the property to BLM or escape into the National Forest Wilderness Area just a few short miles away. The property has horse friendly fencing, running water and a dry lot for getting your horse(s) off the pastures when they’ve had enough.
Enjoy trout fishing? Fish the Navajo River running through the property or the stocked pond just a stone’s throw from the unit.
The 1,000 square foot apartment is 2 bedrooms, 1 bath up-stairs with a second full bath downstairs; all tastefully decorated and in excellent condition. It offers two bedrooms with queen beds. A full kitchen, living room, and eating area round out the upstairs living area. The unit is located in the Chromo Valley at an elevation of 7,400 feet; half way between Pagosa Springs, CO (28 miles) and Chama, NM (21 miles), which enables you enjoy the quiet solitude of a remote destination with a choice of two charming resort towns just ½ hour away.
Perfect year-round destination! The local valley offers National Forest and Wilderness access for hiking, horse-back riding, ATV’ing and snowmobiling (no motorized vehicles in the Wilderness area, of course). Plenty of wildlife to see, streams and rivers to fish, mountains to climb and trails to explore. Sorry, no hunting on the property – the wildlife are for viewing (and picture taking) only.

Pagosa Springs is a magical place to visit any time of year. In the spring, summer and fall, choose from rafting, kayaking, hiking, fishing and hot air ballooning just to name a few. Take the Chama train for a scenic tour through picturesque mountains and gorges, sample genuine local New Mexican cuisines, enjoy unique cultural events and shop for colorful artisan wares. For the history buff, art lover, nature enthusiast and cultural explorer, the Rio Chama Valley offers boundless opportunities.
In the winter months, there is skiing, snowboarding, ice-skating, tubing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, sleigh rides, ice-fishing and cross-country skiing to enjoy. You can take a 52 mile drive to Wolf Creek Ski Resort for the best powder skiing in Colorado, ½ hour ride to Pagosa Springs or Chama, or you can take advantage of the quiet solitude of the Chromo Valley for your winter activities.
The unit is furnished with bed linens, blankets, towels, fully equipped kitchen (including pots, pans, dishes, utensils) featuring; a coffee maker, bean grinder, blender, crock pot, toaster oven, microwave as well as fridge, oven, stove, dishwasher and garbage disposal plus a washer and dryer. The dining table seats six and there are three barstools at the breakfast nook as well. To make your stay more enjoyable, there are 2 TV's (a 46' flat screen in the living room and a 26' in the master bedroom). The living room TV has a DVD player. If desired, you can request a Wii console, with two controllers. We have some games but you can pack your own games and you are all set! An assortment of games, puzzles and books are available for you to enjoy. There is also a stereo system with AM/FM, CD and an iPod docking station.
We offer complimentary long distance service within the continental US with DSL and WiFi access so you can keep in touch with your friends, family and the office.
We tried to make this your home away from home, so all the little touches are available for your use; an iron and board, hairdryer, flashlights, candles, snow shovels and ice scrapers to name a few. After a long day of enjoying all the area has to offer, sit on the deck and enjoy the wildlife and scenery, play a board game, read a book, watch a movie, drop into town for a nice dinner or just sit back and relax. Please note the unit does not have A/C – however, it would be an exception that you would need it.
