I fell in love with the log cabin. I remodeled the entire place and have my stained glass studio on half of the enclosed porch. I would be willing to teach you how to do stained glass while you are there if wanted.
Vicki Cochran purchased this cabin in 2007
Houghton Lake features all the best of lake living. It has a sandy botttom, great fishing, you can drive by boat to many of the resturants, has spots where people gather and is large enough to be by yourself, whatever you prefer!
This is your up north log cabin cottage. It is cozy and warm and makes you want to stay. It is on a quiet very private street but is within walking distance to a resturant, bar, and gas station, which also features a ice cream store inside!
We wanted a mid-week vacation away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, work and kids! Vicki's cabin was perfect for us! It was an opportunity to just sit back and appreciate each others company! We enjoyed cuddling in front of the fireplace, relaxing in the sauna and playing board games/cards on the front porch overlooking the lake. The loft was my favorite; climbing a log ladder into your own sleeping area was intriguing. Vicki's cabin is equipped with EVERYTHING you need and tastefully detailed in rustic decor! The only thing we had to bring was clothes, food and our love for one another!
We loved our long winter weekend in Vicki's cozy cabin! It is clean, cozy, thoughtfully appointed and very homey and truly a way to unplug from TV, Internet and crowds of people - it was just what we needed. The view of the (frozen!) lake is lovely and I am sure even more lovely in the summer. We spent our days cross-country skiing nearby and looked very forward to coming back to the cabin where we made good use of the fireplace and sauna after being outside in the subzero temperatures. Reading in front of the fire at night was perfect. Vicki provides things that you'd normally have to think to bring which is very nice, the cabin is very rustic and cozy, and her stained glass art is beautiful. It's a very unique place and we are grateful to have stayed there!
My husband and I need a weekend away and this cabin gave us just what we needed. We spent lots of time in front of the fire, admiring the view of the lake, and even sitting in the sauna (a nice added touch!). All of the things you would need for a weekend away are in place but it's the attention to all the small details in the cabin that make it so wonderful. Highly recommended!
Summer includes all lake activities with Bud Bash being the second week of August. Plenty of golf in area, dirt bike & 4wheel trails, tourist gift shops, ect. Winter host the biggest ice fish festival Tip-Up Town is the last 2 weeks in Feburary. There are hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails accessable from the cabin.
