About Sandy Thomsen
Our family has lived in Idaho for over 50 years. We vacationed in Challis for years before building our dream log house and office near the Challis Hot Springs. We still must work in the big city of Idaho Falls for much of the year. We work and live in Challis one week a month and enjoy the beautiful mountains, golfing, volunteering at the art gallery and sitting outside to watch the sunsets, visiting with our friendly neighbors and living in the great outdoors here as much as we can until we retire.
Sandy Thomsen purchased this cabin in 2005
Why Sandy Thomsen chose Challis
We asked local log home builders, Don and Barney Lanier to build our house on pasture land because like most of you we were overworked and wanted a quiet place to live part of the year. Challis was the only small town that had a golf course and and art gallery near our main law office in Idaho Falls. It is centrally located so that we can drive to Stanley, Sun Valley and Salmon for eating, golfing and other cultural and recreational activities and be home for a cookout in the back yard and drinks on the porch and watch the stars at night.
What makes this cabin unique
Our property has a fenced pasture and yard featuring space for family cookouts and stargazing. The home has three levels and four bedrooms that can sleep 6-8 people in three queen size beds and two twin beds. Our wrap around porch has seating for 8 including two porch swings. A wood burning stove for cold nights, central heating and air-conditioning make your stay very enjoyable here in the great outdoors. You can ride your bikes to the Challis Hot Springs and your ATV to the local BLM land access from our driveway.
