Highly Recommended

My wife and I had the pleasure of spending a week in this well equipped home located on the water. The home is situated in a small town quiet enough for rest and relaxation, but close enough to all the activities that Bar Harbor has to offer. The design and comfort within the home is modern enough to take your breath away, yet comfortable enough to feel at home. John and Dee were great to deal with and we would highly recommend this special destination.

wonderful oceanside vacation!

  • 5 of 5
We had an incredible stay at this Blue Hill home (Six adults and three children ages 6-12). Situated midway between Acadia and Deer Isle - it was a great home base for day tripping. The house itself was wonderful and the owners were incredibly responsive to questions. We arrived to lovely gifts by the hosts and were made to feel right at home immediately. Big, light filled windows, comfortable furniture, and a well stocked kitchen were amazing. If you are into architecture, you'll love all the fun details and thoughtfulness of the house.

The walk to the beach, down along the rocky shore is perfect (not an easy stroll, but hey, it's Maine...) and sitting out on the rocks investigating tide pools was a great time for the kids and adults alike. We loved our entire visit and only felt cheated by two days of rain... but then, sitting by the fire was a nice consolation. Highly, highly recommend a visit!

Wonderful relaxing family time

  • 5 of 5
What a wonderful time we had staying at this lovely home in Blue Hill. The owners were considerate and helpful and we had everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed for great family meals. The layout of the home offers privacy to multiple families. We so enjoyed all the activities from kayaking, beach / rock climbing, art galleries, music concerts at Kneisal Hall, hiking up Blue Hill to fun dinners at local restaurants, and family lobster dinners from the friendly lobsterman across the street. Thank you John!

it's great!

it's great!

We were looking to spend time near Acadia and loved that this was close enough for a few easy day trips (about 40 min, and we went 3x) but removed from the crowds. It's very peaceful here, but not boring. Walked across the road for lobsters, enjoyed the water access -- perfect for stand up paddle boarding with water somehow warmer than we have further south in New England, and our 8 year old loved spending hours walking the rocky shore looking for urchin shells. Dining room/ ping pong table was a great surprise, esp. for the rainy days. The owners were very helpful before we arrived, researching local spots for us to rent boards, and left a very helpful list, which we used, of things to do and places to go. It's also a real working house, with all the comforts of home (no need to BYO dish soap, or anything of the like, as is common with other beach rentals). And the house is as beautiful as it appears in the photos. We would return for sure.

Amazing stay at Blue Hill - this house was like a dream

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I have been using VRBO for several years and have stayed in some nice (sometimes not so much) places all over the east coast. We had never been to Maine but always wanted to, as we heard the Coastal areas were lovely and we wanted to be near Acadai National Park. Boy did we get lucky with this place! We were the first renters EVER on VRBO and we hit the jackpot. John was super friendly and easy to work with. We wanted a nice place on the water where we could take our dog for a week of relaxing and exploring. This was the perfect place for it. The view was stunning and the house itself amazing....like something out of a magazine...heck...it was in a magazine..."Maine Home". The town of Blue Hill was charming and just what we were looking for. We went sea kayaking several times (there is a local place that delivers kayaks to your door!) and I ate lobster until I could eat no more. The kitchen was really something (I like to cook) and the house had pretty much every aminity you could want, not to mention the unique design. The balcony and decks were sublime and we spent the majority of our time out there. Bottom line - probably the best vacation we have ever had (aside from our honeymoon in Bali). YOU CANNOT GO WRONG WITH THIS PLACE. We are coming back and even seriously considering retiring to Blue Hill (In about 10 years). I just hope this house is available when we do come back with my inlaws. Thanks for everything John!

Spectacular Property

  • 5 of 5
My husband, I and our two puppies just returned from a week in Blue Hill. The property is truly amazing and the hosts could not have been more gracious. Stunning views abound from every angle of the house and it is tastefully appointed with several interesting pieces of original art. I could not have been more happy with our choice and would highly recommend, without any hesitation.
