Dawsonville House Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedroom, 2.5 Bath w/ Party/Tiki dock

Welcome to the perfect lake house! Our ranch-style home sits on the North end of Lake Lanier, on a quiet street, in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains. Enjoy panoramic views of the lake, only a few flip flops away. Walk/bike one mile to the War Hill Park with sand "beach", pier, swings, volleyball net, boat ramp and campsites. Whether you need a home base for a Stay-cation/Lake Weekend this Summer or a Fall Leaf Tour/North GA Festival, our Hidden Gem lake home is THE place. Winery Hopping/Tours and Antiquing Weekends are also great reason to visit N GA. ***Also, don't forget to ask about my discounts on boat rentals through Gainesville Marina.

Every room in 'Hidden Gem' has been decorated to make you feel at home. With 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, updated kitchen, dining area, family room and study (in an open plan), there is plenty of room for everyone. The open family room features a vaulted tounge-in-groove cedar ceiling, with skylights, and a soaring stone fireplace (please use local wood)! The Master has a King bed, 42' flat screen TV w/dvd player and en suite bathroom. 1 Guest Bedroom has a Queen bed and blackout curtains with a connected half bath. The other Guest Bedroom, with adjacent full bath, has one Full bed, one youth mattress below, and a Loft twin bed. The lake side of the home has an entire wall of glass doors and windows with fabulous views of the lake. The living room has an additional 42' HD flat screen tv, DVD, Wii and wood burning fireplace. Games, dvd's, books and magazines are provided for additional entertainment. The study area, off of the family/dining room, has a Queen sleeper sofa and desk with printer and wireless modum. The kitchen has updated stainless steel appliances, butcher block island with seating and plenty of dishes, pots and pans.

The backyard is even better! With a large fire pit, cozy hammock and a gently sloped, easy walk to the covered swim and party "tikti" dock, you may have just found your 'happy place'. The outside lake side of our home features an enormous deck with bench seating, rain sheltered under-deck area with bistro style seating and a hot & cold water outside shower. This is an excellent location for lake viewing, dining, entertaining or just watching the leaves change.

Our property is great for families, friends and also the perfect location for a wedding or professional team building meeting. (Please no wild and crazy parties - we love and respect our neighbors!)

Spend the day fishing and swimming on your private dock located in a quiet cove. Catch the 'Big Ones' right off your dock or enjoy swimming, canoeing, kayaking or paddle-boarding in a 'wake-free' zone for your safety. Secluded, yet located within minutes of the North Georgia Mountains, there are many activities you can choose from if you decide to take a break from the lake. Enjoy an affordable family sport in karting or an adrenaline filled adult experience on the Car Circuit at Atlanta Motorsports Park, in Dawsonville. Pan for gold in Old Historic Dahlonega, the 1st gold rush town with the original mine still open. Antique shop in multiple historic townships from Alpharetta, Norcross and Roswell to Cleveland, Helen and Hiawassee. Enjoy hiking or picnic-ing at nearby Amicalola Falls or tube the Etowah (or go a bit farther to Unicoi or Brasstown Bald). You are within 5-8 miles from a variety of restaurants, theaters, Uncle Shuck's Corn maze, a great Day Spa and the North Georgia Premium Outlets.

If you like to 'do it all', travel less than an hour South on GA 400 to Downtown Atlanta for a ball game, World of Coke, GA Aquarium, High Museum, Fox Theatre or the Botanical Gardens.

Whatever the time of year, Hidden Gem offers a sunset every day and a fabulous vacation!

About Amy Mook

We purchased this home as a lakehouse for weekend use when we lived in Atlanta. Our 'weekends' kept getting longer and longer, so we decided to move to the lake full time and turn the home into the perfect get-away. We have now renovated this 'hidden gem' to the perfect retreat and we have decided to share our home with others, In 2014 we added another lake home, just 10 minutes away. Stay tuned, we may add another;)

Amy Mook purchased this house in 2011

Why Amy Mook chose Dawsonville

Having enjoyed living in a community with a shared common area on South Lanier; we wanted a change of pace. We looked for a private spot on the lake with its own dock, views and a bit of land to enjoy. When we found this spot we knew it was just what we had been looking for. The area is quiet and beautiful with plenty of hardwoods and a very gradual slope to the lake. The cove is not large, so there is seldom any other traffic. I think you'll enjoy our home, too!

What makes this house unique

Tucked away on a quiet cove in an older community, our home is ideal. Our lot has a gradual slope to a small beach area and fantastic cove for floating, swimming, playing and relaxing. Our cove opens up to a great ski area and is less than a mile from a year round access public boat ramp. Lovely views from the oversized deck, living, dining and master bedroom. We have plenty of room for your cars, lake toys and family to enjoy this vacation setting.

Wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay so much. The house was decorated in such a cute way, and we had everything we needed. The fire pit and large yard were a huge hit with the kids. We were close to shopping, restaurants and all of the local parks. We will be back!

Truly a hidden gem!

  • 5 of 5

My family enjoyed everything about our stay in this beautiful home. The location on the lake was convenient but very private. It was perfect! The pictures don't do this place justice. It's beautiful and super clean. We felt at home the minute we walked in the door. The kitchen had more than we could have needed and was up to date all the way. We used the grill and there was even charcoal for us to use. A lot of work went into all the details of this home. No detail overlooked. The view from the dock is amazing. We ended every evening with a gorgeous sunset. The owners are kind and very helpful. I can't thank them enough for sharing their home with my family. If you are looking for a place to make great memories with your family, this is it. On the lake AND in the mountains, it's perfect. A true hidden gem!

Great Weekend Hideaway!

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our recent stay at "hidden gem". We were looking for something family friendly & close by that had a place to dock our boat. Gem fit the bill just right. From our initial contact the owners, Amy & Dave, were very friendly & helpful. They even went so far as to give me their cell number in case we needed anything during our stay. Amy also called me the day of check in to let me know that we could come on early if we wanted. When we checked out on Sunday she told me that nobody was coming in that day & we could stay as late as we wanted. How often does that happen? Not saying that'll happen for you but that's the kind of people they are. The property itself is as advertised. It is an older home in an older neighborhood. It was, however, tastefully updated & clean. The house is well stocked & Dave even left a fews beers in the fridge. The house layout is perfect with an open floor plan. The outdoor space was great! Huge deck with lots of seating & a very short walk down to the two story party dock. The kayaks, paddle board & various toys were a bonus & the kids had a blast. We had a great time & are really looking forward to a longer stay next year!!!

Super home on the lake

  • 5 of 5

We just spent a fun filled week at the lake. The owner (Amy) was very accommodating, especially since we reserved just a few days before our arrival. The home is very comfortable with an enormous deck, hot tub, fire pit, and a great double decker dock. The kids enjoyed jumping off the dock into the lake, which was about 7 feet deep. We were happy to see a canoe, paddle boat, and kayak available for our use. Amy was very responsive, as we did have an AC issue and she had it repaired within 45 minutes of our call. The home was very spacious for our group of 3 adults and 2 children; it was nice to have a separate bathroom for each bedroom. We enjoyed the grill daily and liked that it had one side for gas and one side for charcoal. The house was stocked with everything we needed and there is a Kroger and a dollar store just a few miles away. The house is situated on what appears to be about an acre sized lot in a very quiet part of the lake. The house is very relaxing and spacious; we all thought the house far exceeded the pictures. We all agreed we would rent this home again! Amy, thank you for opening your home to my family and thank you for being so responsive to our questions and needs.

Owner's Response: Thank you for such a thoughtful review. You and your family are welcome back anytime and hopefully our southern hospitality encourages you to make the move to Georgia! I'm sorry that you had to deal with even 45 minutes of an issue, but thanks to your quick diagnosis, the "crisis" was averted:)

Great place at the lake!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 stayed at the lake house mid-Summer. We had several guests visit and there was plenty of room for everyone. The décor in the house is some of the best I've seen out of the many places we've rented through VRBO. It was also very clean. The hugest Kroger in the world is a short drive away. We were in the lake every day and especially enjoyed the paddle boat and hot tub. I wish I was sitting in it right now! The owners are very easy to deal with and are quick to answer any questions.

Our New Favorite Place!

  • 5 of 5

We hadn't taken a vacation in almost 2 years. We live in Roswell, so we were worried that it would be a little too close and that we wouldn't feel like we really got away. How wrong we were! The house and location could not be more perfect! It's beautifully decorated and furnished and spotlessly clean. The back deck and hot tub were great. The perfect way to end each day. The dock and lake access are just a few steps from the back door. Even with the rainy year we've had, we swam in the lake daily and rented a boat a couple of times. We really can't say enough good things about this great home. We were sad to leave and can't wait to come back. We now have a new favorite place!
