Sunshine Breakfasts

We stayed here for a week in December and had a lovely holiday. The owner Chris was very helpful and informative about the apartment, resort and local transport. We hired a car from the airport, and although a bit wary of making the journey actually found it very easy getting to the apartment straight down the motorway. The main reason we had a car was so we could go walking in the centre of the island which was truly spectacular and well worth the fairly demanding journey through the mountain hairpin bends! However if you are not going to do that,a car is not really necessary as you can get buses to most locations, including the capital from here.

The apartment had everything we needed and the view from the terrace is probably the best we have had anywhere. Each morning we had breakfast in glorious sunshine looking down at the bay. There is a supermarket at the bottom of the steep hill together with several restaurants If you want more options the major resort of Puerto Rico is only a couple of miles away - we walked there and back along the edge of the sea a couple of times during our stay.

Would definitely recommend for some relaxing winter sunshine with spectacular views.

FANTASTIC, RELAXING HOLIDAY

What a fantastic holiday. The apartment was as described; very well equipped with lovely, comfortable beds. The ceiling fan in the bedroom was quiet so we slept soundly. The terrace is large (accessed from the living area and bedroom) with an amazing sea view. Watching the sun rise every morning was wonderful.

On another review we read that travel companies had pulled out of Playa del Cura - their loss, our gain. It made for a very peaceful, relaxing holiday.

We shared a minibus from the airport right to the apartments which only took about 30 minutes.

There are plenty of buses from the bottom of the hill to other resorts with very reasonable fares. A trip to Mogan and its market is a must. It is a very pretty place and the market is huge. Amadores bay is walkable across some rocks and rough terrain. There is also a very pleasant cliff walkway from Amadores to Puerto Rico which took us about 30 minutes, walking slowly and stopping to take photos. On a clear day Mt. Teide in Tenerife is visible from Arguineguin (probably other placed too but we didn't notice).

The Spar supermarket at the bottom of the hill is well stocked and not expensive. Although we found the walk up the hill tiring at first, by the end of the week we must have become fitter because it was less of a chore. I walk with a stick (hip replacements) but I was OK with the slope.

The four pools were really nice. The top one being sunny into the late afternoon. I even tried the water slide.

We wouldn't hesitate to go back here and would thoroughly recommend it. The owners were informative, friendly and approachable.

Sunny relaxing break

This was just what we needed. Facing SE the balcony was in the sun from sunrise until late afternoon, and then we would walk upto the top pool and get another hours sun, with a coffee and snack from the pool bar/ cafe.

lovely views across the bay which was nice and quiet for a dip, or walk round to the next bay, Amadores different again, very busy with lots of amenities.

walk on 2 bays and you can catch the ferry to Mogan (the Venice of Gran Canaria) cruising past the apartment on the way. Then a bus ride back for a couple of euros.

We had 1 overcast day and caught the bus to the capital, not very impressed, but if you do, dont catch the 01 it takes forever, we came back on 91 more direct.

Great Spa shop at the bottom of the hill, and a brilliant restaurant above it, you don't need to go any further. The little shop on the complex sold the essentials, if you really want to take it easy but we enjoyed the exercise of the hill (only about 150 meters).

Wonderful Views

The the view from the terrace is spectacular. Gran Canaria resorts, in this area ,are built to make the the most of the gorge location. This apartment is at the top of a steep hill. The complex has lifts which take you very close to your apartment door and you can begin to enjoy the views from the moment you enter them. The apartment was clean and bright. It is compact but has everything you need for your holiday stay. The resort is quiet but Amadores beach is nearby and there is a pleasant walk from there along the cliff path to Puerto Rico if you want a livelier scene. We enjoyed ambling along Playa de Cura beach to the small bay nearby and quenching our thirst as the waves lapped on the pebbles. The sun shines on the terrace until mid afternoon and the sun shone for us almost every day. Puerto Mogan is well worth a visit especially at the end of the afternoon and early evening. It is charming and a lovely place to watch the sun go down. For a quiet relaxing holiday away from the crowds this is ideal.

somewhere sunny in february

Having visited the Canaries in February before I knew we were going to get better weather than Britain - it turned out to be splendid and apparently a "bad" week for Gran Canaria. It was a lovely little spot - so quiet and relaxing for some serious winter sunshine. The apartment is plenty big enough for 3 close friends, in our case family, and the large terrace in full sun til mid afternoon was an absolute treat. The swimming pools are cold - they are ALL cold, there seem to be more people swimming in the sea, which is also cold. Hiring a car seems like a good idea but I really wouldn't bother again - its expensive and the roads are not for the faint hearted and the buses are really cheap. Puerto de Morgan is a beautiful little town not far away with a lovely beach and charming houses and proper shops. The sound of the bar at the bottom of the hill with is live music didn't appeal and we worked our way through the large DVD and video collection, you might want to take your own if you like a good chick flick!

Altogether a really great week!

Fantastic

We had a wonderful 2 weeks in this apartment, which was exactly as described, the view from the balcony was really quite wonderful and waking up to see that each morning was just sheer pleasure.

The apartment contained everything we possibly needed.

Playa del Cura really is a lovely peaceful place to stay, we did find out the tour operators pulled out, why we don't know but it makes for a wonderful quiet place to stay perfect for a relaxing holiday.

We decided to rent a car for the 2 weeks we were there so we could get out when we wanted and go where we wanted. There really is so much more you can see by having a car i would highly recommend it although not essential.

We would most certainly stay here again.

Golf: You are spoilt for choice of golf course as there are 5 courses within easy reach of the apartment. The nearest being 2 minutes by car or taxi & is Anfi Tauro. Consisting of a 9 hole par 27 designed by Von Hagge & opened in 2001 with spectacular lakes mountain & sea views. The 18 hole par 72 opened in 2006 designed by Von Hagge, Smelck & Baril. There is full equipment hire, a driving range, golf classes, shop & restaurant/cafe.

10 mins by car is Meloneras course opened in 2006 designed by Ron Kirby. A 18 hole 71 par course that has 9 holes with spectacular mountain views & 9 with sea views. The 1st hole not being excessively hard but difficultly increasing with each hole. Here there is a putting, chipping green, driving range, full equipment hire & restaurant.

Approx 15 mins away is Maspalomas golf course,18 hole par 73 opened 1968 designed by Mackenzie Ross & surrounded by the dunes national reserve. Opened in 1968 it is an extremely long flat course with a practice green driving range full equipment hire, shop & restaurant/snack bar.

Salobre golf & resort is situated a little further away and is a 18 hole 71 par and 9 hole 36 par course opened in 2000 designed by Roland Faure. Here there is full equipment hire putting green, shop & restaurant/cafe.
