Watch the dolphins on the ferry to La Gomera, then drive for 1 hr 15 mins through amazing woods

and mountains,before arriving in Taguluche.This picturesque village of 40 houses hidden away between the volcanic mountains, offers a quiet, beautiful escape for anyone wanting to relax.

At the end of the road, park the car and walk down a stone footpath that winds through the palm trees for 200 m before you reach SUNSET RETREAT. Enjoy the completely private terrace, with sunbeds and outdoor shower, orange trees, mango and banana trees and rose bushes. The sunsets into the sea are amazing and the night sky offers stunning views (no light polution here)

This old tomato packing house, completely renovated, offers a kitchen, large bathroom and a bright living room. From the footpath you continue down to the sea, where swimming and snorkling is great. The village has a church, BBQ area, bar/restaurant, another sandy beach and many walks.

Completely unwind in the special atmosphere of Sunset Retreat. No cars or traffic, not even pavements or street lights, within 200m of this rural house. Once you arrive it doesn't take long to get into 'Taguluche Time'.

The days can be spent reading on the sunbeds in the completely private terrace, with outdoor shower to cool you down, or a short walk down to the sea for a swim. The food shop is in the next village, so go prepared with plenty of food to last a few days.(spices, salt and pepper,oil, filtered water ,tea, coffee and toilet paper provided ) The sunset and following night skies have to be seen to be believed. If you feel like exploring there are plenty of walks, of various levels of difficulty, but all have great views of the sea, volcanic barrancos and vegetation. There are 2 small beaches, one of rocks and the other of black sand. Take your snorkle or go fishing.

Any time of year is perfectly warm in the Canary Islands.

Notes:
A large house, well lit with super views, surrounded by fruit trees, and palm trees. Amazing sea and mountain views, this house is comfortable and intimate, away from any urban noise. Nobody over looking the terrace, and no neighbours for 200m. In ten minutes you can walk down to the sea. The area is volcanic and the foot path down to the house is not a man made path, but a natural footpath with rocky steps ,earth and grass to walk along. The walk is about 300m and uneven under foot. You should wear good trainers or walking shoes,and go carefully if you are not used to walking. There is no wifi service in the house, but if you go to the Bar/Restaurant in the village there is wifi connection. You have to ask for the code at the bar.

Wir verbrachten 2 Wochen im Haus "Sunset Retreat" in Taguluche. Das Haus ist sehr bequem und es gibt dort alles was man braucht. Die Aussicht von der Terrasse ist wirklich unglaublich und immer neu, egal ob es Abend oder Morgen, Tag oder Nacht ist. Ganz egal wieviel Streß und Hektik man mitbringt - die Stille und der Frieden des Ortes werden damit fertig. Die Natur dort ist so eindrucksvoll und überwältigend, dass man es erst nach ein paar Tagen wirklich erfassen kann. Sogar der Wind hat seinen eigenen Ton und erinnert daran, dass wir nur kleine und verletzliche Menschen sind. Wir werden wieder kommen! We have spent 2 weeks at Sunset Retreat in Taguluche. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. The view from the patio is really amazing, no matter if it is morning or evening, day or night. The peace and the silence there brought us down from every kind of stress we came with. The nature is so impressive and overwhelming that we needed a few days to get along with it.
Even the wind has its own sound and reminds you, that you are a small and vulnerable human being. We will come back!

We had a glorious time at sunset retreat: walking, lolling about in the sun, painting, swimming at the beach, being driven to the beginning of truly magical walks by Tito, the wonderful local taxi driver, and picked up, sore legged but proud at the end of them. Tagaluche is such a pretty village, from which a couple of great walks start, and la Gomera is just stunning. We'd all happily return. Thank you Jose and Barbara.

Total peace and quiet

Great place to really get away from it all. Comfortable and peaceful but always something interesting to look at. Friendly village but very quiet and a long walk up from the house. We went to La Gomera for the walking, which was sometimes rough and difficult. I would call it challenging but you don't have to walk. We also spent days lazing on the terrace,reading, which was wonderful.
Visited the bigger resorts on the island, which are not very big, and in January not very busy, but found some really good, and inexpensive, restaurants
It is very rare to find a holiday home that is really a retreat but this was it and the sunsets were spectacular.

This charming cottage is in an absolutely idyllic setting with fabulous views of the ocean, El Hierro and the beautiful ravines and cliffs that surround the peaceful little village of Taguluche.
Sunset Retreat has everything you will need for a comfortable stay and has been tastefully designed. The sunny patio and garden are spacious, well provided with garden furniture and are perfect for soaking up the sun.
There are wonderful walks and places to explore in and around Taguluche. The nice little bar in the village sells a few groceries-perfect if you want to avoid the long, if very picturesque, drive to the nearest small supermarket.
The property owners are very helpful and welcoming.
This is a great place for the perfect and peaceful get away from it all holiday.

A wonderful secluded retreat

We had a wonderful time in this rustic little cottage, perched on the side of the hill with stunning views and a virtually un-overlooked terrace. In the mornings we picked oranges to make juice from the small garden and soaked up the pure quiet and calm. This is a place for those who really want to escape- it is quite isolated and there is a steep footpath leading from the end of the village road to Sunset Retreat- but once there, it delivered everything we wanted. The cottage is comfortable and simple and leant itself to days and evenings on the sunny veranda. To be recommended and returned to!
