Why Steve and Joy Powell - owner/manager/builder/cleaning crew chose Wolf Laurel

It's easy to get here. There are not miles of windy 2 lane country roads . I-26 intersects with I-95 so if gas tanks allowed - you could get here traffic light free. There are 2 airports Asheville, NC 35 miles or Tri-Cities, TN 50 miles. Both cities have great rates flying Allegiant Air.

Memory Mountain features over 200 acres to enjoy. You will not have to leave the mountain to fish, hike, bird watch, soak in a private hot tub, visit a chapel.

Extras: wi-fi, Directv (over 570 channels - local, movies, sports, Disney), free long distance land lines (cell phones are iffy here therefore land lines are included to ensure safety. Please enjoy unlimited calls out or in. Steve and Joy Powell (owners) live on Memory Mountain to assist all guest with any issue that may occur.

Level building pads here. This lodge is built on stem wall footers. There are no steep drops or stilts like most mountain cabins. The lodges are well planned to allow privacy and safety. There is plenty of driveway parking. Traffic is light because of the low home/acreage ratio.

Holidays! You can have it all away from home. Gifts can be mailed to the Powell address or store pick up is available at 2 very close Walmart's (Weaverville, NC or Erwin, TN). There are Christmas tree farms in Mars Hill to cut your own tree.

My family and I really enjoyed our winter mountain retreat. The cabin was perfect for our escape to the mountains for some crisp mountain weather, tubing and skiing. We especially enjoyed playing with Lobo. Will definitely be back.

Wedding Paradise

  • 5 of 5

My daughter was married at the gazebo by the lake and we had the reception at Lakeside cabin as well. The wedding party stayed at Waterfall and close family used the other houses. We had a wonderful weekend and Steve was very helpful and accommodating. We stayed in this cabin and everything was great. My only concern was that the stairs and access to the Lakeside cabin were not elderly friendly. We had 5 generations there and so we really had to plan for that.

Beautiful and Relaxing!!

  • 5 of 5

I cannot tell you how much our family enjoyed our precious time at Timber Wolf cabin… First, the Powell family were excellent hosts beginning even before our arrival and their communication with us was outstanding. Steve even called us on our drive to see if we needed assistance with directions! Our 10 year old son was completely enamored with Steve and Lobo and enjoyed catching hundreds of fish during our week stay. The property was breathtakingly beautiful and just perfect for our outdoor-loving family. The cabin well-maintained and stocked with anything you might need. It was clean, cozy and comfortable… felt like home! Even though we didn't want to leave, we did venture out to try a few of Steve's recommendations: hiking the Appalachian Trail and a trek to Asheville (which is a lovely town) to eat. Both are HIGHLY recommended! Steve and Joy are an excellent Christian family willing to share their stories and hearts. Our time there will be remembered forever.
