Pahoa House Rental Photos and Description

3bd/2bath sleeps 6

Our NaloNalo Kauhale (hidden home) is perfect for your family! With 3 bedrooms and two full baths - our house is perfectly located for all your vacation & sight-seeing adventures! In a matter of 10 to 45 minutes you can be from the ocean play ground to the wonders of Kilauea! If you're a lover of golf the Hilo municipal Golf Course is a must play for the beginner or pro! As we are 30 minutes from Hilo - you're never far from anything.

Located in a secluded neighborhood in the Puna rain forest - this is the place to enjoy the best of Hawai`i for a family friendly price! With our 200 sq ft covered lanai - you'll be able to enjoy your meals or an afternoon hiamoe iki (nap) in the comfort of the relaxing tropical breezes.

As our house is newer - we've decorated it tastefully and tried to bring the feel of the tropics inside! We've also added custom artworks and photos from family and local artists.

The master bedroom has a queen bed, and ensuite bathroom. You'll also find a small sitting area to read or just relax and put your feet up. This room is large enough that you can also use the air-bed for extra sleeping. With access to the lanai - the master suite can be your personal retreat! On the other side of the house you'll find the other two bedrooms, and full bathroom.

The kitchen is fully stocked with all the comforts of home. All your cooking needs, plates, silverware, blender, microwave, toaster, rice steamer, coffee maker and more. The best part is the kitchen joins the dining area and living area to make a great room where everyone can hang out! Whether at the dining table, the kitchen bar - or relaxing on the couch - it's a great gathering place for your O'hana (family)!

Also available to you are washer/dryer located inside, satellite and wifi, phone, bbq, snorkel gear, ice chests, & games.

About Cindy Young

We first came to the islands in 2000, on an anniversary trip - and couldn't stay away! We fell in love with the big island of Hawai`i in 2005 and found we keep coming back!

Cindy Young purchased this house in 2012

Why Cindy Young chose Pahoa

We chose this area because it's close to all we love about this Island! The sound of the rain at night is soothing. The smells of the jungle around us and the quiet days are fabulous! We even love the sounds of the Coqui frogs at night! Our NaloNalo Kauhale will be the home we retire to in a few years.

The Wonderful Urban Jungle setting in Pahoa, Hawaii

  • 5 of 5

We went to Hawaii as a family of five comprising my 80 year old Mom, wife, and two teenagers (14 and 17). We travelled from the Hilo International Airport, to the home. The host’s instructions on how to reach the home (one needs a car to get there), are great. The location is idyllic, exactly as posted on the website, and better in life with a flower lined rural road leading you home, and the warmth and sunshine of Hawaii and fresh clean air as an awesome bonus. We stayed for the last whole week of March, 2015. The house is clean, and well furnished. The lanaii overlooks a wonderful, simply landscaped, picturesque front yard. Snorkling gear is in supply, and the basic amenities are all just like home. Even our 17 year old said the place was great! The host also stocked the coffee table with a binder of tips on what to see in the area. We visited Volcano National Park, some wonderful beaches, local snorkeling ponds, a botanical garden zipline (yeah, my Mom did it all at 80!), the big lava flow that threatened Pahoa, Waipo Valley, the old City of Hilo, Muana Kea Lookout Observatory Visitor Centre, took a day trip to Kona (west side of the island), and bought local market food out of Pahoa (just 10 minutes away). Whether you wish to just stay around the house and enjoy the setting, or to toodle about, a week is just not enough. We thank the Young’s for allowing us to rent their home. We would recommend this home to anyone without hesitation.

Beautiful home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We rented the house for two months. It has a well equipped kitchen/outside BBQ if you want to eat-in...or you are nearby Pahoa Town if you want to eat out. The beds are comfortable. The furnishings are modern and house looks like it does in the pictures (so you won't be disappointed upon arrival.)

The home is well maintained and was a big plus for our trip. We have stayed other places and been plagued by mosquitoes/spiders, so we appreciate the value of good window screening and maintained grounds. The owners are very thoughtful and have worked on making a perfect home away from home!

Best Value for Price and Experience

  • 5 of 5

Opening the front door I immediately had a big smile on my face. This home is even better than the pictures. I quickly noticed how impeccably clean the house is. If the decor of the house was not professionally done, the owners have very good taste. The decor just helps make you happier on your vacation! The floor plan is very open and easy to get to the lanai. It has everything you need and then some. It is so nice when owners anticipate all your needs. My daughter accidentally cut her finger and there were even bandaids. I cooked many different items and the kitchen had all pots, pans, dishes, appliances...everything you need. And everything is in excellent condition. The house is in a quiet area and tucked away, yet has very easy access to the highway. This is important because it is in a perfect area to stay while you visit all the great places on the east side of the island. Why stay in a hotel when you have all of this for almost half the price? I have stayed in many VRBO homes and this one is the best!

Owner's Response: Mahalo! We are so glad you enjoyed our home. Our goal was make sure those staying at our NaloNalo Kauhale were able to live the Hawaiian lifestyle and be comfortable! We hope you return again to the island soon -- until then A Hui Hou Kakou! (until we meet again)

Mahalo nui loa

  • 5 of 5

We planned five nights here after being on Molokai and it ended up being a great decision. The property is very well equipped from the kitchen to the beach equipment, coolers and all the extras. From the wonderfully spacious lanai we enjoyed many evening dinners. It truly is a home away from home and we absolutely loved everything about this vacation home. Absolutely cannot say enough good things about it or the great owners. I highly recommend staying here….just hope it is available for our next visit to the Big Island of Hawaii.

The house is just beautiful and has any and everything you might need. You don't have

a bunch of neighbors which is kinda cool. The town of Pahoa is lovely. Kaleo's has the best sauteed mushrooms I've ever had. The Malama (spelled wrong) market is fantastic. I wish I had known about it before we shopped at Wal-Mart. On the drive to the tide pools you get to travel down a lush green forest type of road. We went zip lining and did the ditch kayaking. It's slower paced in Pahoa than the tourist-y spots but still close enough to the tourist-y spots that people that like to "go go" will have things to do. I myself also just enjoyed the relaxation of the house and tv.
