Guestbook comments from the owner
It was only after booking this beautiful house that I learned its owner, Ali, is an interior designer - and believe me, it shows. What a gorgeous, comfortable, inviting space she's created! The property is secluded without being impossible to find, with its own pond and stream. Our dog had a blast exploring the woods and splashing around in the pond.

The kitchen and house were stocked with everything we needed for the weekend, and there are a bunch of cute towns with sweet cafes and restaurants nearby. It's perfectly situated for a weekend hiking in the woods, apple picking, and generally disconnecting from city life.

It's my understanding that Ali and her family haven't owned the house very long, but I saw pictures of it pre-renovation and it's clear that they've done a huge amount of work to make it so comfortable (and chic!). I would be thrilled to stay there again, especially in summer when our dog can fully take the plunge in that pond!

I am an interior designer living in Scranton PA. My husband, myself, and two children bought this farmhouse to create a restful retreat from our main home. I have taken the time and consideration to note what I like (and more so don't like!) on a vacation stay and have created an environment I hope you enjoy as much as I do.

Alison Duffy purchased this farmhouse in 2011

My knees grew week with I first walked the grounds. The ponds beyond the lawn are so beautiful with blueberry bushes right on the edge and the most perfect plantings abound. I love the view out the kitchen window of the neighboring field, lots of deer grazing about and a restful feel all along the grounds.

Bethel Woods literally minutes away. Second White Lake is a few miles down the road with lots of activity in the summer and great restaurants to sit out on the water (LOVE Benji and Jakes flat bread pizza). Another fav jaunt is nearby Narrowsburg with my FAV restaurant the Heron, which always has the most interesting crowd ( you might catch a glimpse of someone you would NEVER expect). Love to head to nearby Jeffersonville on a Sunday for pastries and shop Global Home and wonderful antiques. If fishing, boating, and lakes your thing.. LOTS to tap into just a drive down the road:)

Incredibly peaceful stay in a beautiful home

  • 5 of 5
My partner and I were so excited to head to this location as a much needed escape from the city. From the start it was great working with Ali. She immediately responded to our request and phoned us to explain the details of the home. On the phone she was incredibly friendly and accommodating, recommending restaurants in the area and suggesting activities. She was also attentive throughout our stay, ensuring we had everything we needed.
Ali has done a wonderful job decorating this home, with such warm yet rustic touches that make you feel welcome and comfortable. Her kitchen is very well equipped, we were easily able to cook some fun elaborate meals. As for the area, it truly was perfect. Our dog did not want to be indoors at all, she had so much space to run around. We took a few walks throughout the property and there are some beautiful remote small lakes with no people or buildings around. For the entire weekend we did not see anyone on our street, giving us the much needed break from the crowds in the city. Her home is located a few minute drive from a little cafe that has lovely baked goods and can prep packed lunches for hikes. Overall, we truly enjoyed every aspect of our stay. We hope to come back especially once the snow melts a little more and enjoy the backyard fire pit on the Adirondeck chairs.

Great place to stay if headed to Bethel Woods!

  • 5 of 5
This adorable little cottage was a perfect place to stay after seeing a concert at Bethel Woods! We made a long weekend out of it and took advantage of all the amenities at the cottage and in the area. Beautiful home on a private and relaxing piece of property! My boyfriend and I enjoyed this romantic getaway and had wine out back at the fire pit after an amazing dinner at Benji and Jake's just a few miles away. Ali was so accommodating prior to the trip and genuinely cares about her guests having a great stay! Amazing weekend! We can't wait to do it again!

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I highly recommend staying at this lovely, little farmhouse. The location is ideal and the surroundings are peaceful and serene. We stayed here along with our two little dogs. Our visit was for a long weekend to attend a concert at the Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center. The farmhouse is located about 4 miles away, making it very convenient for travel to the concert. The house itself is comfortable, clean, and inviting. It is beautifully decorated and has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Alison was very helpful and prompt with responding to any questions we had. She gave us several suggestions for good, local restaurants to try. We plan to return to the area for a visit in the near future and hope to stay at this lovely farmhouse again.

Lovely, Pastoral Farmhouse Vacation for Low-Key Fun and Connection to Nature + History!

  • 5 of 5
Stay here! It was such a lovely, relaxing, pastoral getaway for my small family. The farmhouse is very homey and comfortable; the two bedrooms upstairs are a good size, and the downstairs layout is just right, with artfully and thoughtfully arranged furniture and decorations. If you're there for just a weekend, you'll have plenty to do lounging around the house, sitting on the expansive lawn in the adirondack chairs, throwing stones in the pond, and hiking around the stream, which you will find by taking a right out of the driveway and walking down toward the second pond over there. There was a small, inflatable pool in the garage and we spent a lot of time just playing in that. BUT if you're there for a little longer, you might want to visit: Lake Superior State Park, which is only about 6 miles away and has a beach, picnic tables, playground, and boats to rent; Stone Arch Historical Park, which is also about 6 miles away and has a great playground, picnicking area, a pretty stone bridge, and a nice water/rock area that says "No Swimming," but is actually quite nice to wade around in near the small waterfall; the Bethel Woods Museum, just 3 miles away, where you can pay 15 bucks to see some great pictures from Woodstock, play in a tapestried-out bus, and watch a 21-minute video of the awesome performances-- if you time your trip right, you could catch a concert while you're there; Apple Pond Renewable Energy Farm and Education Center, which is about a half hour away but TOTALLY WORTH IT because you can book a private tour to collect eggs, milk a goat, and meet some really nice farmers; and Bubba's Restaurant, which you actually shouldn't go to if you're a gourmand or want a quick dinner, because the food and service weren't great, but there's a giant sandbox where you can eat, and it's right on the water, and there was a guy playing cover songs on guitar, so it was the nicest spot to let a small one play while you enjoy the view and music!

All in all, I would heartily endorse staying at the farmhouse. Alison was awesome at communicating before, during and after the trip, and the surrounding town, which may appear a bit barren at first glance, actually has a lot to offer. I think it's a wonderful hidden gem of a place to vacation-- and it didn't used to be so hidden! It's part of the Borscht Belt in the Catskills, which was a big vacationing spot from the 1920s to 70s. Go back in time to have a good time!
