I am an interior designer living in Scranton PA. My husband, myself, and two children bought this farmhouse to create a restful retreat from our main home. I have taken the time and consideration to note what I like (and more so don't like!) on a vacation stay and have created an environment I hope you enjoy as much as I do.
Alison Duffy purchased this farmhouse in 2011
My knees grew week with I first walked the grounds. The ponds beyond the lawn are so beautiful with blueberry bushes right on the edge and the most perfect plantings abound. I love the view out the kitchen window of the neighboring field, lots of deer grazing about and a restful feel all along the grounds.
Bethel Woods literally minutes away. Second White Lake is a few miles down the road with lots of activity in the summer and great restaurants to sit out on the water (LOVE Benji and Jakes flat bread pizza). Another fav jaunt is nearby Narrowsburg with my FAV restaurant the Heron, which always has the most interesting crowd ( you might catch a glimpse of someone you would NEVER expect). Love to head to nearby Jeffersonville on a Sunday for pastries and shop Global Home and wonderful antiques. If fishing, boating, and lakes your thing.. LOTS to tap into just a drive down the road:)
It was only after booking this beautiful house that I learned its owner, Ali, is an interior designer - and believe me, it shows. What a gorgeous, comfortable, inviting space she's created! The property is secluded without being impossible to find, with its own pond and stream. Our dog had a blast exploring the woods and splashing around in the pond.
The kitchen and house were stocked with everything we needed for the weekend, and there are a bunch of cute towns with sweet cafes and restaurants nearby. It's perfectly situated for a weekend hiking in the woods, apple picking, and generally disconnecting from city life.
It's my understanding that Ali and her family haven't owned the house very long, but I saw pictures of it pre-renovation and it's clear that they've done a huge amount of work to make it so comfortable (and chic!). I would be thrilled to stay there again, especially in summer when our dog can fully take the plunge in that pond!
The farmhouse sits on really lovely property (perfect if you have kids who like to run around or a dog who likes to explore). The house itself is simple and has clearly been attended to & decorated with a lot of love. The antiques are great and my husband and I just loved the kitchen and the dining room.
The owners are super sweet and patient. I spoke with them several times for various reasons and they were nothing if not accomodating and helpful.
Overall, a great experience!
My partner and I were so excited to head to this location as a much needed escape from the city. From the start it was great working with Ali. She immediately responded to our request and phoned us to explain the details of the home. On the phone she was incredibly friendly and accommodating, recommending restaurants in the area and suggesting activities. She was also attentive throughout our stay, ensuring we had everything we needed.
Ali has done a wonderful job decorating this home, with such warm yet rustic touches that make you feel welcome and comfortable. Her kitchen is very well equipped, we were easily able to cook some fun elaborate meals. As for the area, it truly was perfect. Our dog did not want to be indoors at all, she had so much space to run around. We took a few walks throughout the property and there are some beautiful remote small lakes with no people or buildings around. For the entire weekend we did not see anyone on our street, giving us the much needed break from the crowds in the city. Her home is located a few minute drive from a little cafe that has lovely baked goods and can prep packed lunches for hikes. Overall, we truly enjoyed every aspect of our stay. We hope to come back especially once the snow melts a little more and enjoy the backyard fire pit on the Adirondeck chairs.
Upon arrival, you can immediately tell that Alison and her family have done an astounding job at decorating the place. Everything that you need for an awesome getaway is provided. Bring only yourself and a hunger for serenity. Alison is wonderful to work with. She's always very quick at getting back to you with answers to any questions that may arise. I would definitely recommend a stay at this beautiful farmhouse.
This adorable little cottage was a perfect place to stay after seeing a concert at Bethel Woods! We made a long weekend out of it and took advantage of all the amenities at the cottage and in the area. Beautiful home on a private and relaxing piece of property! My boyfriend and I enjoyed this romantic getaway and had wine out back at the fire pit after an amazing dinner at Benji and Jake's just a few miles away. Ali was so accommodating prior to the trip and genuinely cares about her guests having a great stay! Amazing weekend! We can't wait to do it again!
We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the house, the location was perfect for touring Bethel Woods, Yasgars Farm and Woodstock.
My husband and I highly recommend staying at this lovely, little farmhouse. The location is ideal and the surroundings are peaceful and serene. We stayed here along with our two little dogs. Our visit was for a long weekend to attend a concert at the Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center. The farmhouse is located about 4 miles away, making it very convenient for travel to the concert. The house itself is comfortable, clean, and inviting. It is beautifully decorated and has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Alison was very helpful and prompt with responding to any questions we had. She gave us several suggestions for good, local restaurants to try. We plan to return to the area for a visit in the near future and hope to stay at this lovely farmhouse again.
