There is so much to explore on the North Fork. The sea-faring town of Greenport offers its own array of restaurants, shops and sailing adventures along with a 10 minute ferry ride to Shelter Island. A quick drive through it will take you to the South Ferry and offer easy access to Sag Harbor, East Hampton and Montauk.
My family settled in the North Fork in 1949 and we have lived or vacationed here ever since. Once a land of potato farms, we have watched it evolve into vineyards and horse farms which have maintained the rural beauty of this area. Wisteria Court will always hold a special place in our hearts as we had our wedding reception there. Since then we have enjoyed introducing our children and friends to this special place.
john plucinski purchased this chateau / country house in 1984
I purchased this from my parents who had owned the property since 1970 in order to keep it in our family. It has been the setting for numerous gatherings and vacations-- Christmas-tree trimming parties to Fourth of July BBQs.
This is truly a unique home, built by a candy manufacturer from Manhattan. Rumor has it that President John F. Kennedy stayed here in 1960. From when you see the green-tile roof and expansive wrap-around covered porch, to when you first climb the red-carpeted staircase, you will know that this is a home like no other.
AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!!!!! From the start, we had a fabulous experience renting this beautiful house! John was very informative about the details of the house. He communicated with me several times prior to our arrival. The house accommodated 14 of us very comfortably. The linens were provided to us, as well as basic toiletries, blow driers, cookware, plates, paper towels, wifi, tv's... The list goes on... All we needed was our own toothbrush.... We would love to make this a tradition with our girlfriends. In addition, the location is perfect if you want to go to wineries, outlets, or to dinner on the north fork! It was a quick walk to the bay, which was quite refreshing. We created irreplaceable memories with long time friends!!!!!
I've recently spent a week at this home for an anniversary get-together and I find it difficult to put into words how wonderful a time we had there. The bedrooms were inviting and the four immaculate bathrooms kept everyone happy with piping hot water. The home is a short walking distance to the beach and to the marina where we sailed from into the calm Peconic.
Shopping was nearby, but the home is tucked away enough to feel secluded from the world and the wraparound porch was something out of a Fitzgerald novel. The Hampton Jitney stops a half-mile up the road for folks coming from NYC or the airport. John the owner was courteous and highly informative. I cannot wait until we get a chance to rent this property again.
Rented the house for a bachelorette weekend. John made sure that everything we may have forgotten or needed was available (shampoos, paper towels etc). Very spacious and beautiful. Enough bedrooms and bathrooms for a large group of people. Loved the porch and large front lawn. Wish we had more time to enjoy it and the whole area.
Not too far from the city but far enough to feel like you're on a real vacation. Couldn't be any closer to the beach and a great restaurant by the water. Walkable bar that was enjoyable for late night. Vineyards aren't far and it was a lovely weekend. Would definitely recommend and come back!
Hi! I had a group of 13 friends who were all attending the same wedding in the area and the house was absolutely perfect for us!
It has a ton of space and it's amazingly well-maintained (for being an older property), organized, and well-stocked. The owner is very detail-oriented in the best way possible so we felt well-prepared to stay and respect the space, which made everyone's lives much easier!
Everything you need is right there and pretty easy to find. Our group had enough space that it never felt cramped - there's 4 bathrooms overall, I believe, which was great and there's enough separate bedrooms to allow for people to have their own privacy. The porch is also HUGE and a great place to congregate and chill.
The space allowed us to easily prep and cook meals for the entire group, which we loved. We enjoyed the 2 bikes there, the beach is about a 5 minute walk away - and the area has farmers markets of all kinds within a 1-2 mile radius. It's truly an amazing area. You definitely need a car to get around: it's in a prime area for vineyards and also the best pies in the whole world (I'm not supposed to use names but google the area for the best fruit & cream pies!)
The area can be a wee bit eerie at night but that just might be a result of me being a city person hehehe :)
Otherwise, if you don't have a car, you can also rent a taxi/limo from the Ronkonkoma LIRR station, which cost us about $90 (including a generous tip) for 2 people.
Well worth the trip and money!
Recently stayed here with a group of 11 women for a bachelorette party. The house was huge with enough bedrooms and bathrooms for everyone to be getting ready at the same time. John had given instructions to everything which made our time spent there relaxing and very easy.
The first night we BBQ'd and ate outside on the huge wrap-around porch. (Beware of mosquito's! Being NYC girls, we kinda forget about bugs! But the house offered a ton of citronella candles on the porch and bug spray which we definitely utilized) The second day we had a wine tour with RML tours. They were very accommodating and I highly recommend them. The last day we spent the day at the beach and since it was a 2 minute walk to and from the beach we didn't have to worry about beach bathrooms, making lunches or refilling our drinks.
Overall the weekend was perfect and I couldn't have imagined being in any other house. Cant wait to stay here again!
I recently stayed at this house for a weekend getaway with a group of 14 women. The house is a beautiful, historic home that is perfect for a large group. The location is ideal, right by a quiet beach and down the street from shops and restaurants. We spent most of our time relaxing on the large, wrap-around porch. I've rented numerous homes before, and I appreciate the attention given to making our stay as comfortable and convenient as possible. There were more than enough sheets and towels, and all instructions for the house were clear and easy to follow. There was ample parking and convenient for our guests arriving from both train (10 min drive from Riverhead station) and jitney (stop right down the street). I would absolutely recommend staying here, and will likely be back again!
Jamesport is in the heart of the North Fork Wine Country with 24 vineyards all within easy driving distance-- many of which offer music, tours and tastings. The Peconic Bay is just a two block walk with gentle surf perfect for families. The town beach and marina is a five minute drive, complete with a playground, showers , lit tennis and basketball courts. The area is perfect for biking to let you explore the inlets and beaches, spy on herons and egrets, or get some pleasurable exercise. With so many farms surrounding the area, there is a wonderful array of fresh produce, pick your own strawberries, blueberries, peaches and apples-- not to mention freshly roasted corn, pony rides and petting zoos.
