Lake Almanor House Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedroom, 1 Bath. Great Hiking, Mountain Biking,

The home is currently closed for the winter. Check the 'Rates' page for dates the home is open and 'Calendar' page for Spring, Summer and Fall availability. All the beds, bedding, sheets and towels are new. The home backs up to the woods. You can literally hike, mountain bike, quad or motor cross ride directly out the back door and explore the many abandoned gold mines and other smaller lakes. It is important to know that this rental is ideally set up for four people. Five is possible if you brought an inflatable mattress or slept on the couch. The home is 1/2 mile away from a wonderful beach and picnic area. The address is 29529 Highway, 89, Canyon Dam, CA 95923. Great Cabin and a Great Location!

  • 5 of 5
We go to the mountains every year for a fishing trip and this has been the best cabin we have stayed in. The cabin had everything we needed and even though we didn't go until after Robert had closed his kayak shop for the winter he still left us a couple of kayaks to use just in case we wanted to try them. We are in our 60's and this cabin was nice and roomy. This would also be a great place for a family with a couple of kids because they would love the bunk beds. Even though it does not have satellite TV, Robert has a great selection of movies and if you just have to see the news he does have wifi. The location is also great for our fishing, like a mile away and since we can be a little forgetful there is a general store to pick up those things left behind. The price was also great compared to other places we looked at. I would recommend this cabin to any of my fishing buddies as long as they don't try to rent it when we want it....hahaha! The cabin also has a very comfortable bed! Thanks Robert for letting us use your well cared for cabin and I look forward to using it again next year!!!

Owner's Response: Wow Dave, Those are some pretty nice words! Thank you! Several reviews have mentioned kayaks and paddleboards. In case people are confused, I own the kayak and paddleboard shop which is located next door. It's only open in the summer but when it is, the guests have certainly enjoyed the convenience of it. Anyway, I would be happy to have you again next year. Again, thank you for staying at my place!!!

Post Earthquake retreat

  • 5 of 5
We had a delightful stay at this affordable vacation rental. We enjoyed the coziness, decor and wonderful setting in the trees. We also really appreciated all the lights in the living room by the comfortable couch and by the comfortable master bed. We like to read and your books were great. We did not have any troubles with equipment or such. We appreciated the fans to circulate the air so we were real cool and all the hooks for coats and clothes. We made quite a few meals in the great kitchen.

We were able to watch a few of the DVD, do our puzzle, do some hiking and swimming. The swimming hole at Indian Falls was fabulous. Additionally, we enjoyed eating at the West Almanor Golf Course. We ate lunch there on Tuesday and then went back on Friday night for dinner we were able to watch the deer graze while have a delicious dinner outside on the patio. Beautiful. Thanks for the local information, maps and guides.

Especially, thanks for a great stay. We would hope to stay there again.

Owner's Response: Ann, I'm sure experiencing a large earthquake in Nape to finding yourself in the mountains a short time later was a much needed change. Thank you for staying at my place and for your kind words.

All the best!

Great getaway!

  • 5 of 5
This was our first VRBO rental. I decided to plan a get away earlier that week for a long weekend before Summer came to an end. My husband and I had never been to this part of California, and thankfully the owner, Robert, was able to square away the details for our stay on such short notice. We spent most of our time exploring Lassen Volcanic National Park, and this rental was in a good location to drive to different areas of the park. The kitchen was great to have in order cook breakfast, prep our snacks/lunch, and make a home cooked meal after a day of hiking. The living room was also a nice place to lounge and watch a movie after our park adventures. We also took advantage of kayaking on Lake Almanor after hiking Cinder Cone. We just wish we had more time to spend at the rental and kayaking on the lake. This place was great, and we were sad to have to leave!

Ditto the other reviews

  • 5 of 5
We stayed there over Labor Day weekend. I don't really have much to add that the other reviews haven't already mentioned. It's nice, quiet, and comfortable if you're looking for a quiet getaway. Or it's a good jumping off point for exploring the region (Lake Almanor, Lassen Volcanic National Park, etc.) We didn't use the TV/DVDs - bring board/card games and teach the kids how to unplug and have fun. Stock up at the grocery store in Greenville or Chester and save money by utilizing the refrigerator/kitchen instead of eating out. Minor issue - the shower's on the smallish side (32" x 32" - the kind of shower stall you can buy at Home Depot) but large enough, and the earthquake last year knocked the shower door a little out of alignment. But still, a great value for the area!

Great Place with a Great Owner! Robert is an awesome guy providing anything we needed. Beach is secluded and peaceful. We did not want for anything thanks to Robert. We would highly recommend this home and we travel alot and use VRBO all of the time. Thanks for a great time Robert and being so flexible and delivering the kayaks and Paddleboards!!!

Great Cottage at Reasonable Price

  • 4 of 5
My daughter and I stayed here for a week and we had a great time. It's bigger than I thought it would be, the beds were so comfortable, just a quick walk to the lake and the owner Robert was so accommodating. He took the kyack to the lake for us and picked it up afer just texting him, he was there in 5 min, Cute cottage has a roomy, full working kitchen all cooking tools, and a great BBQ, on a nice patio out front. The background sound of the locomotive was faint, but relaxing. THere is a convenience store next store in case you forgot anything, also quick drive to Chester and The Peninsula so you can see the entire Lake in a quick day trip. The only improvements I suggest is adding a screen door to the front, and add a dead bolt lock on the door. It gets pretty dark up there, you can't see anything after the sun goes down so maybe that's just a little more security for me, otherwise the area is very, very safe. Thanks again Robert! We will be back next summer!
