Growing up in Illinois, My husband and I reunited after 30 years and decided to make a fresh start. Deciding on Richmond, Kentucky, we were searching for the perfect place. Just come over the ridge and anyone will feel like they are home. A hairstylist and salon owner for 30+ in Northern Virginia, we decided to start with a hair studio in the countryside. Being so popular for a unique environment, we felt that we needed to share our home for those who need to get a way.
Joyce Green purchased this chateau / country house in 2005

Jordan Hill Farm originally was built in the 1800's. ( We have pictures for your enjoyment). The previous owner had a vision and rebuilt it to have the uniqueness of the past with bringing features such as city water to the comfort of today. Logs originating back to the 1800's along with the fireplace in our Frontier room, and spiral staircase, other features include our kitchen cabinets and other wood work in our home coming from the timber of the land.
A beautiful, warm, comfortable and spacious home with a fantastic kitchen (a stove made for cooks) - all surrounded by scenic rolling hills - it made the perfect spot for a large family holiday gathering. Joyce decorated the entire home just gorgeously including a unique tree. There were 16 of us including my Dad in a wheelchair who managed just fine. The hot tub was a huge hit and so were the horses. We were able to do a long walk by the creek and take many strolls. Jordan Hill Farm made our Christmas. Highly recommended!
What do you say when outstanding, fantastic, amazing and fabulous aren't enough. Everything and I mean everything was over the top from the time we arrived until the time we sadly departed. Our four night family Thanksgiving gathering for our family of eleven kids (ranging from 3 to 15) and six adults was everything we had hoped for and more. The home, the property and more importantly the owners made our experience a memory we will cherish for a lifetime. All of the kids want to know if we can come back every Thanksgiving.
Thank you Joyce and Joe for everything,
The whole Buckey family
The pictures of the house and property do not do it justice! What an amazing house and the surrounding landscape are fantastic. Joyce and Joe (and Elliot and Rigley) made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. There are plenty of things to do on the property as well as the surrounding area. Joyce was so helpful to us in providing us with lots of places to visit. We enjoyed our trips to Louisville and Lexinton (close enough for an easy day trip). We had a great time with our kids (2 teenages and a 11 year old) playing badminton, fishing, feeding and brushing the horses, relaxing in the hot tub or just swinging on the porch. What a great way it spend a week with the kids! We will definitely be back again to JHF! Thank you for such a wonderful vacation!
What a wonderful experience! A lovely setting, lovely hostess, lovely time, what else can we say? EXCEPT, our girls weekend included a variety of spa services and we're refreshed and beautified by Sonja and Joyce. A totally memorable experience.
People come and go throughout our lives. Some make an outstanding imprint. I would like to Commend the owners Joe and Joyce for welcoming complete strangers into there home to enjoy it as much as they do! My mother has been living off and on with Breast Cancer since 2009. As she is nearing the end of her battle, she asked for one last family vacation. The idea of renting the farm house seem to be the best option for our family. I was nervous but Joyce made me feel comfortable and excited. By the time of our arrival, mom was growing weaker. Joyce made sure mom was settled before showing us her home. We were flabbergasted on how much nicer it was in real life. The views were breathtaking. For a family that is use to camping, we had so much that we did around the farm and in the mountains that we didn't need to do anything else offsite. In the pictures of the kitchen it looked small, but in reality we had five people cooking, sometimes two babies and a 100+ lb dog undertow and still had enough room to move around. There were maps, brochures, children books on The Appellation Mountains, art books that would muse the artist and history books that would intrigue the history buff. If I had any questions or what I thought was a problem, Joyce would answer it or take it lightly and tell me to relax and have fun. She even would check in to see how mom was doing. Unfortunately we had to get the wheelchair out. For the most part we could move her around at ease. Older homes were built with wider door frames. There was a step to get in the house and in the bedroom on the first floor. The bathrooms are not wheelchair accessible, but we made do. Joyce also introduce us to a photographer friend of her's. Between mom getting weaker and me wanting a horse in the picture with us, I didn't think we could get the schedules to fit, but in the end it all worked out. Two days before the family portrait, Joyce washed the horses. When I came out of the bathroom (that was located in the first floor bedroom), I was frozen in the beauty of the love Joyce's has as she washed one of the horses. For me this was a beautiful moment that I will always remember. Oh! Mom sat in her wheelchair outside and watch for about an hour. The whole family had such a wonderful time and will recommend Jordan Hills Farm! Their imprint will be with us for ever. Thank You So Much for Sharing A Sliver Of Heaven!
We booked Jordan Hill Farm for a weekend golf get-away. This place is awesome! Beautiful accommodations and tranquil surroundings made it a perfect place to catch up with old friends. Easy access to Richmond and Lexington. Equally impressive were the owners, Joe and Joyce, two of the friendliest people you will meet. Truly a great experience.
Close and convenient to Lexington, Berea, Midway, Cumberland Lake, antiques and boutiques, movie theaters, EKU Performing Arts, special events in the area.
