BEACH/PROPERTY - The property is on the water and has direct access to the waterfront - no roads or other barriers to cross. The sandy beach is at the end of the grass down a few steps, and features a bonfire pit perfect for roasting marshmallows and telling stories. The water is shallow for a long way out and excellent for children. Situated south of the Lee Point cove, the water is calm for floating the afternoon away. A dock, canoe, kayaks and sand toys are available for guest enjoyment. The water has a mix of smooth sand areas and some areas with stones/small rocks. Water shoes may be a consideration depending on personal preference.
BEDROOM/BATHS - The master has a king bed, and child size bed; second bedroom has a queen; and the third bedroom has two full/twin bunks. There is a twin in the game room, and a pull out queen couch bed in the family room. Two full bath rooms – one with two sinks and new tub/shower (2014); second with one sink/shower. There is an attic fan to pull in lake breezes and cool the bedrooms, ceiling fans in each room, and additional floor fans available.
AMENITIES – This is truly “home away from home.” There is a 'game room' with air hockey and foosball as well as a great selection of children's toys (Legos, Geotrax, Lincoln logs, Tinker toys, blocks, cars, doll etc). There are many board games, cards, children's books and a selection of novels and magazines for a relaxing summer read. You’ll have all the conveniences including Wifi, cable, phone, bed linens, pillows, towels, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, blender, griddle, toaster, waffle iron, toaster oven, tableware, flatware, utensils, cookware, bakeware, serveware, fridge, stove, full size washer and dryer, gas grill, and deck furniture. We provide body wash, hand soap, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, Kleenex, and napkins. There is typically a wide array of condiments and most common spices as well.
THINGS TO DO - The area hosts many activities; see the 2014 schedule below. In addition to the over 20 vineyards in Leelanau County, this home is less than 10 miles from the Leelanau Sands Casino, and close to local farm markets, shopping, excellent dining, golf courses, bike trails, art galleries and all of the many other attractions of desirable Leelanau peninsula. The Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes are very popular, and Fishtown in Leland is a great afternoon visit. Catch the sunset over Lake Michigan in Leland at The Cove and Rick's Café. Sample the wines of the Leelanau and Mission Peninsula wineries. Enjoy various outdoor activities or spend a few hours with the amusements at Pirate's Cove, or fishing at Veronica Valley.

About Mary and Brian
We live in the Detroit area with our 3 school aged children. We grew up in Michigan - one on the west side and one on the east, and have vacationed in northwest Michigan for the past 16 years. We have always loved the Leelanau peninsula and are so excited to have this home away from home. We've built great memories with family and friends already and look forward to building many more. Purchasing a home up north was a dream of ours and we love our place. We've been slowly improving it over time; rescuing the home from inattention, the beach from disrepair, and the yard from major overgrowth. It's been hard work, but a labor of love to create a place we think is special...and hope you do too!
Mary and Brian purchased this house in 2011
Why Mary and Brian chose Suttons Bay
We fell in love with the view the minute we walked in the front door and saw the view out the back windows (you'll see!). The large, open, casual and comfortable feel of the place was exactly what we were looking for. It's beautiful in the summer, stunning with color in the fall, and picturesque & cozy in the winter. We love the location with so many activities nearby, yet the quiet of being North of Traverse City. It's the perfect place to relax with friends and family.
What makes this house unique
It's great to be in an area where you feel 'away from it all' but also to have access to restaurants, retail, reasonable groceries, entertainment, wineries, a casino, and amazing outdoor beauty within a 5-15 minute drive. You can't ask for more!
