Originally built as a seasonal retirement home by my father, an avid fisherman, this house has been used by family for many years and we LOVE it. we enjoy exploring the family friendly, safe village of Quimixto with our children. We plan adventurous day trips into Puerto Vallarta, or other locations like the nearby zoo and the botanical garden. We then retreat back to the seclusion of rustic Quimixto and the luxuries of a real beach house apart from it all.
True nature lovers enjoy the ecology of the area with tropical birds, flowers, exotic fruit, marine life. We love getting to know the people in the village, learning spanish, and boogie boarding of course! After a stay in this beach house we leave feeling renewed and ready to get back to our work living and working on an organic farm in Northern NM.
Please inquire about our list of day activities we have enjoyed over the years while visiting Quimixto- we love to brag.
Jennifer and William Silveman purchased this house in 1998
Enjoy the relaxation and rejuvenation gained from a stay in this spacious & cozy 2 bedrm casa right on the bay of Banderas with all the amenities of home.
This reknown surfer beach and fishing village is the ideal choice for avid fisherman, retirees, family, honeymooners, children, artists, surfers, and those looking for a break from the rat race, to connect, unwind, renew, and collect oneself.
This fully equipped beach house, on the edge of the quaint village of Quimixto, is half an hour from Puerto Vallarta by boat and road. Easily accessible public water taxis run regularly and the house hosts charter personal boats for our guests.

Great on the porch, gets a little shotty towards the back of the house. Smart phones, or laptops/tablets, with hot spot 3G data package work fine for internet and email.

If you are looking to escape from a crazy busy life in the city, where you are commuting for hours or checking emails constantly, then this is the place for you! Quimixto is a small fishing village, about 35 minute from P.V by water taxi. Staying there for a week certainly showed us the 'true' Mexico, and we had fun getting to know some of the locals and their way of life. Be prepared however, as there are no doctors, no vehicles, few stores, no ATM machines. You have to come with all the Mexican currency you will need (unless you are willing to travel back to PV to restock your money and supplies). There is no internet (a huge benefit in my opinion!). The ocean is steps from the house (ensure you have a bowl to wash the sand from your feet before entering the house or you will be sweeping constantly!), bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper as the waves, dogs and roosters will wake you up! Quimixto feels very safe, it is very friendly, and we can't say enough about the hospitality of the caretakers, Raul and his wife Palita. You should learn some basic Spanish to converse with the locals, although we knew very little and got by. A great place for kids, Jen supplies beach toys, although I would suggest bringing life jackets as the waves can get very large. Overall, a great holiday, and I really appreciated the letter prior to arrival to help us get prepared for our trip. This is NOT an all inclusive, this is a getaway with a touch of adventure. If you want to experience the real Mexico, and are happy to live without the luxury, this is the place for you!
This place was exactly what the family needed to detox!
1) Far from the Madding Crowd
2) In fact, total disconnect; esp. from wireless and telephones
3) The charming beachfront house; loved the sound of the ocean at all times
4) The support of the owner as well as caretakers (Raul)
We will go back any time
Our stay was absolutely amazing with our family of 4! The house was exactly as Jen has shared in pictures and through conversation. She prepared me completely for bringing my family to Quimixto from the US from beginning to end. She even had the pack-n-play set up in the master for our 11-month-old when arrived!
The house hosts were exceptionally warm and absolutely fabulous while we stayed! Our 7-yr-old played with their son and niece during our week there. It felt like we were among family. They were resourceful and truly shared the best things of Quimixto, PV, and Yelapa with us!
Dos Cocos was a favorite of my husbands ;) He became fond of the owner very quickly. Martin served an exceptional meal for lunch on the beach for my family of 12 when they came to visit us for the day.
Visiting Quimixto was definitely the break we needed from our fast daily lives. The tranquil setting and quaint village paired with such great people made this vacation left my and I figuring out when we could return!
This house was absolutely perfect for our family of three, including a sea-loving 2 year old.
The house is well situated. It is right on the beach and has a small sea wall that forms a sandy enclosure our daughter loved to play in. We could see watch her building sand castles right from the kitchen which was nice. Just beyond the house is one of the best point breaks in Western Mexico. Everyone was very friendly. There are a ton of friendly local surfers and they were not territorial at all. We made most of our meals at home. Only because it was so good, we ate at the one restaurant at the beach. Behind the house is a small (clean) river and a pathway into the jungle and up to a pretty waterfall. There is great bird watching. There are 5 other houses on the beach and maybe 100 people in the village, total.
Who is this place not for? Well - there are no other tourists in the town. There are really no services (you can buy basic groceries and beer). It is isolated (you have to take a boat and there is no road to the village). Speaking Spanish is definitely a help. Apart from the sea and the surf, there is really no 'action'. We felt incredible fortunate to stay at Jennifer's house, but if you're interested in other gringos, a bustling beach scene or any nightlife that's not your own, this might not be the place for you.
We had a wonderful relaxing holiday at the Casa De Las Olas in Quimixto. The house is located on the beach in a quaint Mexican village. The home was very clean and welcoming when we got there. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked for cooking your own meals. It was nice to have a washer and dryer for our use. Tons of room for a family to stay (there was just the two of us). Fresh flowers awaited our arrival which was a nice touch. Our shrimp supper we requested the first night was excellent. We asked for another one the last night – Chili Rellenos and the meal was again excellent. They were reasonably priced too. Also really enjoyed "Coco's" the pub next door on the beach. We recommend the filet of fish and the margaritas ;).
The people in the village were friendly, helpful and welcoming.
Panga rides are readily available. Walked everywhere we needed to in the village. Loved the fact that there were no roads or vehicles.
We recommend the hike to Los Aminos and up to the waterfalls. Also enjoyed a visit to the Botanical Gardens. Otherwise we just relaxed at our home on the beach in Quimixto. We enjoyed walking into the village to purchase eggs and some ingredients to make home made salsa. We do recommend going into Puerto Vallarta one day to purchase major groceries.
This was truly a wonderful experience. It was like stepping back in time. The people of this quaint little village are so warm and genuine. I would say that if you have difficulty in walking or getting in or out of a boat you may want to take that into consideration. Also bring something to watch the DVD's as there is no tv or player available. The meal that was prepared for us our first night was very delicious. Also the food at Coco's next to the property was very good. The exchange rate there is 10 to1 and there isn't any access to an ATM or bank so plan accordingly. I also want to say go to Boca a small town south of Puerto Vallarta to board for your departure to Quimixto. It is less expensive. Something that was surprising was how loud the ocean is at night! If you are a light sleeper you may want to bring ear plugs. The local dogs that warmed our hearts did bark a lot at night. They felt it was their responsibility to protect us. ;) We loved the experience and know more on what to expect so we are better prepared when we return to this amazing place.

Quimixto is a fishing village that also thrives on small scale tourism offering horseback riding, scenic tours, fishing tours, small locally run cafe/restaurant, local food vendors, and mercados/ small grocery shops. Local cuisine includes fresh fish entrees such as ceviche, fish fillets veracruz, tamales and atole, pies, fresh coconut, fruits, oysters in the nearby village of Las Animas , and much more.
Come to Quimixto and stay in this lovely beach house with optimal privacy RIGHT on the beach. Enjoy exploring the village, taking in A+ beach time, world class fishing opportunities, & day trips by foot, or the frequently running public water taxis.
Each day a ferry comes into the village and the community comes alive with festivities including food stands, shopping, horseback and the offering of scenic tours, pictures with iguanas, strolling jewelery vendors, or dare to taste the local raceia in a coconut 'coco-loco'.
In the warm evening, take a stroll into town along the foot path for more low-key local life- have dinner at the local hamburger cart, see the delightful village in its true element with kids running around and townspeople visiting.
Visitors can spend the afternoon hiking along the coastal well worn path to the nearby village of Las Animas for a drink and a plate of fresh oysters from your choice of several restaurants. Las Animas also offers a zip line and parasailing- google it to make reservations.
From Boca Tomatlan you catch the 15 minute panga ride to Quimixto, day trips are possible to the zoo and the botanical gardens.
Beach combing, boogie boarding, FISHING, sunbathing, swiming, surfer watching, whale and dolphin watching from the porch, kite flying, frisbee... Truly a memorable experience and unique.
