4 Bedroom, 2 Bath, 2 Story Log Cabin

THE LODGE is a two level, four bedroom, two bathroom private family home that we rent for getaways for hunters, families and friends. There is easy access from outside to both levels for folks who like to avoid stairs.

Small business retreats, visiting 'the kids' at Luther College, fishing, hunting, biking or tubing down the Upper Iowa River are all possibilities while you are here.

THE LODGE is comfortable, family friendly and appointed with everything that you might need.

Families with babies will find a Pack 'N Play (bring your own linens) and dining chair booster seat.

Bring your own charcoal/lighter fluid for outdoor grilling with our park grill. Bedding and all linens are provided.

A land line phone provides access for local and emergency numbers. DSL internet access is also included. There is not cell phone reception at the house, so bring a long distance calling card if those calls are required. We are tucked into a cozy valley. Enjoy the peace and quiet. Two big screen TV's, one with DVD, may help you to relax. Gas burning fire places are located on both levels of the home.

Each of the two upstairs bedrooms includes a queen size bed. One bedroom downstairs also offers a queen size bed, and the 'bunk room' has two sets of bunk beds. The upstairs bath includes a jacuzzi tub, while the lower level has a step-in shower.

You will find the kitchen well equipped with utensils, small appliances, bakeware, cookware and serveware to create delicious meals and snacks. A comple line of barware awaits in the lower level kitchenette.

Outdoors, there is fire pit, a park grill and plenty of room for roaming and being inspired for painting or photography.

While this property is independently owned by our family, rentals and maintenance are managed by the Stortz family, owners of Highland General Store in Highlandville, Iowa. Contact them at 563-546-7722.

The driftless area in Northeast Iowa is one of very few spots untouched by glaciers. This property will remind you of being in the mountains of Montana, next to a burbling stream. Peace...........beauty............quiet.

What makes this cabin unique

Great fishing with NO Mosquitos! Hard to believe, but true. Wildlife watching is superb. Keep your camera handy. No cell phone coverage means that you can legitimately detach from the outside world because you are in the Land That Time Forgot! The porch swings and rocking chairs aren't a bad place to enjoy that fresh morning cup of coffee or a cool beverage in midday.

All prices are subject to change. A $50 per day deposit will be collected by charge card when you reserve your dates. If you cancel, the deposit is nonrefundable; however, you will have 90 days to rebook a stay at The Lodge. Missing items, excessive cleaning needs or damages to the property will be your responsibility and billed accordingly to your charge card.

We really strive to keep our home well maintained, so if mishaps occur, please inform us about broken or non-working items. Please do NOT try to repair perceived problems by yourself during your stay. Call Highland General Store to inform them of the issue.
