About Karin Petersen

This was our family home with lots of great memories. The owner is a local resident who resides in the house most of the year. She stays in the small cabin on property during rental season, over 100ft away making it convenient for guest to reach her with any concerns, yet respectfully giving her guests as much privacy as possible.

Karin Petersen purchased this house in 1977

Why Karin Petersen chose Traverse City

Quiet area of the lake and it is conveniently located close to Interlochen and Traverse City. Neighbors are very nice.

What makes this house unique

We don't hire property managers and live elsewhere. We are owners who have lived here many years and take pride in the property. We know details about the house and the the area. Over the years there have been many guests here and we love sharing the experience of Long Lake and this area with others. With this in mind, the decision to offer it as a vacation rental is the perfect solution to afford keeping it in our family for generations and share it with new friends. We want to provide a vacation to our guests as though they are guests of our own.

You really can go home again

  • 5 of 5
in this very comfortable traditional lake home. If you want new and shiny, go to a hotel. This really felt like home. Host was very hospitable and welcoming. We spent very little time indoors as the weather was perfect and the decks overlooking the lake were mesmerizing. It was the perfect gathering place for family camping at Interlochen and some staying in a Traverse City hotel. A week just wasn't long enough.

Great spot for touring headquarters

  • 5 of 5
Two adults and our labrador made Karin's our headquarters as we explored Traverse City for the first time. We found it very centrally located for our trips around the area -- up the western and eastern sides of the bay, a visit to Interlochen, and of course, Traverse City itself. The cottage is well pictured and accuarately described. We spent many hours on the one of the two decks, having our meals or just sitting and watching the lake. We ususally had lunch out and our dinner on the deck. Karin was most accomodating and as a native is very knowledgable about the area.

Excellent

The property was very clean and well kept. The house is very beautiful and very clean and the views are amazing! The owners (Karin and Mike) are very friendly and they go above and beyond to make your stay pleasant. The amenities that they supplied were more than we expected! Turtle Creek Casino was a very nice experience! The double decks and hot tub overlooking the lake, helped make our vacation a very relaxing and enjoyable stay! We would definitely recommend! We will be back!!

wonderful vacation home

  • 5 of 5
My family and our dog had a wonderful vacation at this lovely house. We especially loved the multi level deck. We spent most evenings on the deck watching the sunset. The house was just as pictured and had all that we required. We took advantage of the row boat as well as the paddle boat which were provided.
