We have lived in the central valley all of our lives. We love family, fitness and creating memories in beautiful places. We have been in the interior design and Health club industry for 33 years. We enjoy life and feel very blessed to have found carmel Valley.
rob and susan farrens purchased this chateau / country house in 2012
I have spent the past 45 years vacationing in Carmel and Carmel Valley. As a designer, I have worked on many homes in Carmel and Pebble Beach; the beauty is simply unsurpassed! Our company recently opened six new health clubs within 20 miles or so of carmel valley. Our son attends Stevenson boarding school and we felt compelled to find a place of our own. Robbie is a national champion road cyclist and finding the best roads to train and enjoy were clearly in the Carmel Valley; hence the name 'chateau bicyclette!'
We fell in love with Carmel Valley because of the mild climate, relaxed atmosphere , the many wineries and exceptional restaraunts, and the relaxed, friendly sense of community it offers.
At first glance, we fell in love with the live oaks the canapies our farmhouse. We loved the beautiful travertine and cherry wood finishes. However, the mountain view backdrop was the deal clencher! As a family, were charmed and mesmerized. We never tire of the views, hikes and the out of doors. My 9 year old Daughter spends hours playing with her golden retriever puppy in the bent grass lawn and swinging on the rope swing under the mighty oak tree.
We booked the house to accommodate my immediate family... two young couples and my son. We all fit very comfortably and greatly enjoyed the outside space and its easy walk to the village and proximity to the lovely Carmel River trials.
we had a great stay at the house, the hiking and proximity to town was perfect. the yard with the pool and jacuzzi was great and the kids liked it. I am looking forward to a return visit.
We booked this for our annual girls tennis weekend and were blown away by this stunning home and it's setting.
It's hard for me to choose my favorite area of the home! We spent each evening in the expansive backyard enjoying the crisp, cool evenings by the fire pit. The hot tub was welcoming after hours of tennis. The kitchen and living/family room felt so warm and inviting with a fire burning in the fireplace. And the master bedroom was icing on the cake! Such a comfortable and spacious room to sit by the fire and relax. This home is masterfully decorated with touches you don't expect to see in a rental. We very much appreciated the items for smores and the bottle of wine Susan left for us! A very nice gesture! The amount of space was perfect for the 8 of us!
It was truly a treat to stay here and we hope to repeat our trip again next year!
Great location, close to Carmel Village. The backyard is well designed for relaxation. Pool, hot tub, fire pit, nice outside dinning area, lawn area, hammock and swing. The area is well fenced in so good for pets. You don't have to worry about them.
The master bedroom is wonderful. Large sitting area, comfortable king bed, fireplace. Good place to be by yourself with a good book, and a glass of wine, as there is a lovely wine refrigerator. The home is nicely furnish with good decorating flare.
We spent five wonderful days at this lovely home. It is everything it is advertised to be and more! We literally could not have chosen a better place for our family of 5 adults and 2 grandchildren. The décor is elegant yet comfortable. The highlight of the property is the back yard with everything needed for relaxation and enjoyment. The children loved the pool and spa, and we never heard, “I’m bored. What is there to do.” Instead we heard “We should stay longer.” The mountain scenery was awesome, and we very much enjoyed the Carmel River and great hiking trails just a short walk out the back gate. We found Carmel Valley so charming and were glad to be away from the crowds of Carmel and Monterey.
We stayed for 4 nights - the place was fantastic. It was clean, well-cared for and had great amenities. It is in Carmel Valley which was a great place to stay.
You don't need to travel europe to find this charming country french farm house nestled in a prominant wine region. 'Chateau Bicyclette' is settled in a quiet neighborhood with a backyard designed for family entertaining, with a picturesque view of the Santa Lucia Mountain range. Just newly renovated, the outdoors has a new hot tub, upper and lower decking, a sparkling pool, a larger grassy area surrounded by fruit trees and lavendar. A lovely live oak is the pivoting element , with a classic wood rope swing. There is a cedar play house, organic vegetable and herb garden and a holding paddock to rest horses between trail rides.
Dampierre little league park is accessed from the back gate. The Carmel river is just 50 yds away. Seasonal bridges allow access to Garland Regional Park where magical trails await to awaken your senses. Even in the middle of summer, when the coastal fog drops temperatures to 50 degrees, this corner of heaven averages 80 degrees and has lovely sunsets.
After dark, sit around the firebowl, bbq and enjoy the complimentary basket of somemores that come with your stay.
Our home is within 15 minutes of Laguna Seca raceway, 5 minutes from Bernadus lodge, 15 minutes from the refuge, and is within walking distance to shopping, winetasting and restaraunts.
