Holiday house San Saba, spacious and sophisticated apartment, is located near Via dei Fori Imperiali and typical Testaccio district, renowned for its traditions and cuisine. The apartment, recently renewed, is at fourth floor of an elegant palace with lift and faces green via San Saba. There are two comfortable and hospitable bedrooms, a double one and another with two single beds, a spacious and luminous living room, a practical kitchen, bathroom and entrance.
This is a clean, spacious, and bright apartment from which to explore and enjoy Rome. The kitchen and bathroom have been modernized and everything is in good working order. We especially appreciated the secure WiFi that allowed us to check e-mail and use the internet with our iPad. It is situated slightly off the beaten track in an authentic Roman neighborhood in between the Aventine and Testaccio. Nevertheless, the apartment is still only a 10 minute walk to the Colosseum, a five minute walk to the metro and several buses stop virtually outside the door. There are an espresso bar and two good restaurants right downstairs as well as many excellent restaurants in this area (see the Eat Rome app for details). The apartment owners are very kind, helpful, and trustworthy. We really liked the ability to pay for the apartment using our credit card with PayPal. We highly recommend this apartment to others and would definitely stay there again if we return to Rome.
The longer we stayed here, the better we liked it. It is most convenient to public transportation - the Metro and the train to Ostia. The restaurant at the ground floor of our building didn't have much atmosphere, but the food was great with fresh ingredients at reasonable prices. There are several attractions within walking distance, chief among them are the Baths of Caracala, Circo Massimo, the Aventine Hill and the Acatolica cemetery just behind the Pyramid. We are just a couple, but the roominess of the apartment was a real plus.
Ok, so the apartment is clean, well appointed, comfortable, and excellently located (close to sights and transport, but out of the main tourist zone) and the price is more than fair for Rome. What I want to emphasize, however, is the customer service of landlords. They were so sweet upon first meeting, eager to get us set up in Rome for a good stay, but they really went above and beyond later in our trip to Rome.
My husband and I decided to fly standby back to the states and couldn't get on the first flight - this meant coming back to Rome (easily done from the nearby train station), calling the landlords and having them come and meet us (again) to let us into the apartment for another night. Although they were coming in from the countryside, they could not have been more gracious and assured us that we could stay for a long as we needed and offered us any assistance we might require. Lovely people!
It was a lovely stay and I will recommend this apartment to everyone I know who needs somewhere to lay their heads in Rome.
This is one of the best apartments I've had in many years of staying in vacation rental apartments. I stayed here two weeks with a combination of friends and family.
The apartment is very clean and exactly as advertised. It has a good layout for multiple guests as you can close off the living space from the bedrooms for those who have different bed times. There is street noise in the bedrooms. Those who are light sleepers may want to use ear plugs. However, you are on a busy road with traffic so some noise is to be expected.
The bathroom is large with a shower in good working order.
All of the electronics and appliances work well - the air conditioning, the kitchen equipment, the electrical outlets, the television and the WIFI and the washer. There were enough dishes, placemats, cutlery and glasses.
The bedrooms have lots of storage space. There were extra towels, pillows and blankets available.
The apartment has been set up specifically for renters, so there is nothing extraneous like knickknacks to worry about and no personal objects in the cupboards or closets, and yet it has some comforts of home, like electric/manual shutters for all the windows as well as full length window shades. The owners supplied a hair dryer, iron and ironing board, broom and dustpan etc.
The location is very good for public transportation by bus and metro. There are good restaurants, an excellent gelateria, a supermarket, delicatessens, tobacco shop, newstand, fruit store, wine store, etc. all within a few blocks. The Testaccio market with all of its local food sellers (and shoe stalls) is a 15 minute walk and an excellent place to buy local food. And, Volpetti, one of the best food shops in Rome, is also a 15 minute walk away. The building is modern, and on a busy modern thoroughfare, but just a couple of blocks away you can find much quieter parks and some interesting places to just walk by. This is not the location for someone who wants to be within walking distance of say Piazza Navona. This was my 4th visit to Rome and this apartment was excellent for seeing a different side of the city.
If you are a walker, you can also walk to the Colosseum from this apartment without any difficulty.
The owners are extremely responsive and do their best to be helpful. They make a point of ensuring that the guests know how to contact them and are anxious to make the guests happy. They are also just very nice people!
This apartment was beautifully appointed with attention to detail. Immaculately clean, in a nice residential area. It was very close to a metro station which made it easy for sightseeing at the Colloseum, St. Peters Square and the lovey sights of Rome.
Our host Geno, was very friendly and helpful and a delight to meet.
There are execellent restaurants in the immediate area.
The only drawback was traffic noise which could be heard from bedrooms but not from the living area. This however did not prevent us from getting to sleep. We would recommend staying at this apartment.
My husbund and I recently spent three days in this apartment located in a lovely and quite place in the heart of Rome.
Colosseum, Roman Forum, Circus Maximus all within easy walking distance.
Confortable, bright, and very clean apartment well equipped.
Simple but adequate kitchen and bathroom. Nice bedrooms.
5 minutes walk from the closest metro
Surely would recommend it to anyone interested in visiting Rome.
