Amazing VIEW, Spacious, Country Living, Hosts with Aloha

Private Ocean and Maui View Accommodations on a three acre farmstead

Executive Suite for the price of a studio * Enjoy the spirit of aloha in this private setting with fruit orchard and gorgeous ornamental and edible gardens accompanied by a magnificent view of the ocean and the nearby island of Maui. There is only one unit on the property therefore you have privacy and quiet. You will experience stunning sunsets, heavenly skies, and beautiful scenery. We are upcountry so the climate is delightful and a bit cooler than the hot coast, yet we are close to great snorkeling, swimming and the best beaches. Hawi is a quaint artist village offering many Eco activities, great hiking, restaurants, and live entertainment.

The accommodations include an over-sized bedroom, king bed and a private bath, a delightful courtyard, BBQ Area, large kitchen, garden setting, and an outstanding view. There is also a sitting room we call the Tea Room, which is adjacent to the accommodations with a computer and library for your use. The sheets and towels are organic and we offer natural toiletries. Cable TV and Wi-Fi Internet access are also included. A welcome fruit basket is provided and replenished daily during your stay. You are also invited to harvest whatever you can eat from our orchard and gardens during your stay.

Take advantage of your host’s, Donna and Kevin…. We have years of experience on the Island and enjoy sharing the special places we have discovered here. We will assist you in anyway that we can to help you have a memorable vacation on the magnificent Big Island. Aloha awaits you. You can choose from a variety of activities such as massage, yoga, dancing, hiking, ocean swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, healing horseback riding excursions, dolphin quests, zip line, and farm and garden tours (check out our form). Of course, you can always just hang out and read, write, paint, or meditate.

During your stay you can choose to enjoy a Culinary Class with a Farm-to-Table Meal. We also offer our Culinary Healing Arts Retreats, which you can read more about on our web site. Plan to spend some time relaxing and rejuvenating. Experience the farmstead and the bounty of using local and organic ingredients to prepare healing foods and beverages, while absorbing the beauty of mother earth and all her gifts.

We also do intimate Wellness Wedding Packages. This is a magnificent place to get married or celebrate any occasion. Call us for details.

About Donna Maltz

Aloha, from Donna and Kevin, the Host of Always In Season Farmstead. We have been coming to the island since 1984 and are finally full time residence in our gorgeous farmstead location. We ran the Fresh Sourdough Express Bakery & Café in Homer Alaska for 30 years and for 12 of those years we also ran A Memorable Experience,” an eco-friendly bed and breakfast and full service destination wedding location. We performed and catered over 100 weddings and accommodated people from around the world. Hence we now have our dream home and business in Hawaii. Always In Season Farmstead has enables us to combine our love for food, people and the planet into one. This is an awesome place to rest, relax, rejuvenate, get married, renew your vows, have a farm to table meal, take a culinary class and have some fun.

I recently graduate from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I have been trained in more than one hundred dietary theories and studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods. Drawing on all my experience and this knowledge, I now enjoy teaching culinary classes, hosting wellness retreats, and coaching entrepreneurs and individuals choosing to make a change. One of my passions is to help others create a personalized “road map to health” that suits their unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and goals encompassing soil-to-soul solutions.

We know how important hospitality is and we enjoy it. We love meeting people from around the country and the world and sharing all the magic that this island has to offer. So come for a few nights, a week, or longer, get married here, or renew your vows. We look forward to meeting you! Aloha Donna & Kevin

Why Donna Maltz chose Hawi

When we travel we always look for the out of the way places for a unique experience. That is what you will find at Always In Season Farmstead Retreat. We also look for Value and this upcountry Paradise offers you spectacular landscaped grounds and an Executive Country Suite with a kitchen, for the price of a Studio. Always In Season Farmstead sits in a park-like setting with majestic views. This upcountry Eco-friendly property will take your breath away. We compost, recycle, and are avid gardeners. At Always in Season, our home is powered by the sun. We are on three acres, yet if feels like 3000. Forest, pastures and ranch land surround us with a few other county homes in view. We had been living in Hawaii for 10 years before we bought this property. We choose it for the amazing view, cooler climate, and privacy. If you are looking for beauty in a tropical setting you will find it at Always In Season Farmstead. We love the fact that we can grow the best fruits and veggies here at this elevation. We also love the fact that there are very few bugs and so much beauty... we love the response from our guest when they arrive and the gratitude when they leave. We love that we are close to town, to the best swimming on the island, and to many great adventures.

Kevin and I have been professional chefs for over 30 years and we offer our guests the opportunity to take a culinary class and or enjoy a Farm to Table Meal.

Always In Season is a perfect venue for a small intimate wedding or to renew your vows. We offer affordable wedding packages with a catered Farm to Table Meal.

We look forward to meeting you.

Aloha, Kevin and Donna Maltz

Want a luscious Hawaii experience in a tropical setback setting, and enjoy "the real Hawaii" from the local point of view? If so, this is the spot for you. This is a place of serenity without the fanfare of resort, yet it's in close proximity to the myriad of island beaches, hiking trails and other adventures the Big Island offers. Our hosts provided us with the solitude we longed for, but were always available to give us helpful information. They themselves are fascinating and inspiring "keepers" of this gorgeous location, very committed to a sustainable lifestyle and caring of the entire planet.

Wonderful, heart-warming, welcoming retreat

  • 5 of 5

We honestly couldn't have been happier with our choice to stay with Kevin and Donna at their Always in Season retreat. This couple understand true and genuine hospitality and generously share their gift from their hearts. The rooms are spacious and inviting, the bed incredibly comfortable, and the kitchen is fully stocked for all of your cooking needs from simple to gourmet meals. Kevin and Donna readily share the delicious bounty from their garden, their insights and secrets to dining, hiking, swimming, and other activities beyond the regular tourist areas. Most of all, they share their love of life and their Island. We miss you guys already!

Above and beyond hospitality!

  • 5 of 5

Wow. I don't think anyone can beat the hospitality and customer service of Donna and Kevin. I felt right at home and would highly recommend the place to a good friend or relative. Especially to someone with interest in tasty, healthy eating and cooking -explore the library or ask Donna for a class and she'll design one for you! Located in upper Hawi the air is fresh and crisp with beautiful views of the ocean and green farm fields below. Only a 5 min drive to the delicious Hawi Farmers Market. Great kitchen for the home cook, internet for those who can't let go. Let it be a work-vacation single stay or a small family vacation home, after many year's in Hawi, they know the cozy, artsy town and its people and gladly give you recommendations. Roads have less traffic meaning less hassle driving to the beach. You'll beat the Kona crowd too, as some of the Big Island's nicest white sand beaches are relatively close, perfect for a few hours or a full day of swimming and snorkeling.

I feel conflicted writing a review, because I risk competing for my favorite Big Island hosts!

I've knicknamed this place Hale Aloha because everyone one we met on site and in the towns of Hawi and Kapaau exude the friendly spirit of aloha. You feel welcomed and at home; casual chit chat can quickly turn into deep and meaningful conversations. Our host anticipated every need and had it on hand. The pictures show exactly what you can expect, including the beautiful ocean view, green meadow and forested area. Complete tranquility in a beautiful mountain setting with caring hosts- the perfect place to relax and set out for nearby adventures.

Wow!! ... the minute we drove onto the property , I knew this was the type of place I would want for myself. I was totally in awe of the land, home and guest 'cottage" accommodations, location and surroundings. Having great hosts just made it perfect. I highly recommend this piece of "heaven on earth" for those who love nature at its finest grapefruits ever and avocadoes that make the Hass variety pale in comparison.

Absolutely , no hesitation to recommend Donna & Kevin's piece of paradise to anyone ..

Thanks for the wonderful memories ....

Hawi, is known as North Kohala’s biggest little town. It is the bicycle turnaround for the annual Ironman World Championship held every October, the best whale watching coastline, delicious eateries, brilliant artits and musicians, organic farming, unique shopping opportunities, wonderful alternative healers including massage therapists, acupuncture, naturopath’s, herbalists, yoga therapists and more . This charming historic town is situated on the northern tip of the Big Island rich with rich history and culture.

The Climate is a bit cooler than the hot coastline and we get our share of refreshing, revitalizing wind, which keeps the air some of the cleanest in the world.

A few miles north of Hawi is the fun historic town of Kapaau, home of the original King Kamehameha I Statue. Here you will find Kamehameha Park, which offers free use of great tennis courts, a public swimming pool and wonderful children’s playground. There is even a small user-friendly golf course for a nominal fee. Continue driving east on Highway 270 and you’ll literally come to the end of the road at the stunning Pololu Valley Overlook where you can enjoy a spectacular view and hike down to the valley. Keokea Beach Park is not to be missed as a wonderful place for picnic.

A few Miles south of Hawi are my favorite swimming and snorkeling spots on the Island. We will have to guide you to get to some of them. Mahukona Beach Park is my favorite place to whale watch and swim. If you want to fish, we can send you in the right direction. There are many historical sites and parks along the coastline to enjoy. Kawaihae is 17 miles away and offers great dinning and music at the Blue Dragon Restaurant, or you can enjoy Café Pesto’s cuisine. This is also where one of the islands most used harbor resides and where the old style Canoe teams launch their boats.

We have a great Farmers Market every Saturday under the majestic Banyan Tree. Terrific Art Galleries, excellent restaurants, and endless entertainment await you in the quaint villages of Hawi and Kapaau.

Guests can go on energizing hikes using the nearby trails. Kohala Zipline and other fun Eco Tours are 5-10 minutes away. Mahukona Beach Park and spectacular Pololu Valley are just a 15 minute drive away.

Always In Season is a 1 hour drive from the Kona Airport and close to just about anything this magical Island has to offer. We love assisting our guests with their island vacation.
